HOPEWELL — Former City Councilor Chip Capraro is among three people interested in being appointed to a vacant seat on the Finger Lakes Community College Board of Trustees.

Capraro, current trustee Jeffrey A. Friend and Canandaigua resident Steven B. Klen have submitted résumés to a search committee comprised of five Ontario County supervisors who’ll make the appointment.

The successful candidate will succeed longtime trustee Bill Bigham, who died last month after a bout with cancer.

Capraro, associate dean at Hobart College, served two stints on City Council.

“If I’m indeed considered, I would be honored to serve as a career educator,” Capraro said. “I’ve been deeply involved in my community. It would be a natural extension of my life’s work.”
