CIA Director John Brennan implored President-elect Donald Trump to put his confidence in the intelligence community and develop an "appreciation" for the effect his words could have on national security.
The CIA director and formal deputy national security adviser to Obama also warned Trump on Russia, saying he did not believe Trump understood the threat of Russia, while also saying he hoped the Trump administration would be able to see an improvement in the US-Russia relationship.
"I don't think he has a full appreciation of Russian capabilities, Russia's intentions," Brennan said, adding that Trump "does not yet" fully appreciate what embracing Russia might mean.
