Jury Awards $46.5 Million To Three Individuals In PCB Lawsuit

The three individuals are alleging that they absorbed PCBs through the course of their daily lives, by eating food, drinking liquids, or breathing air that contained traces of the chemical. The St. Louis jury awarded the plaintiffs, one of whom has died, $17.5 million in damages and $29 million in punitive damages.

Glyphosate Pretending to be Glycine: Devastating Consequences - Stephanie Seneff, PhD

Published on May 25, 2016
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the pervasive herbicide, Roundup. Glyphosate's inventor, Monsanto, has assured us that glyphosate is nearly nontoxic to humans. This is blatantly untrue. Glyphosate's toxicity is insidious, and it comes about mainly because glyphosate is a synthetic amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. When you replace glycine, an amino acid, with glyphosate, a synthetic amino acid, in a protein, often the protein no longer works as intended. Sometimes it can't be broken down and it accumulates in the brain, causing neurological disease. Other times, it is inactivated as an enzyme or it can't attach to a membrane. Glyphosate also pretends to be glycine at glycine receptors. Glycine is a neurotransmitter, but glyphosate fools the receptor and then doesn't behave as expected. This wreaks havoc on human physiology in multiple ways, leading to a nearly complete explanation for the strong correlations between the rise in glyphosate usage on crops and the increased incidence in a host of chronic modern diseases, including diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, ALS, adrenal insufficiency, anemia, spina bifida and autism. In this talk, I will try to keep the scientific jargon as simple as possible, while presenting an amazing story about biochemistry gone awry.

Putin Is Growing Organic Power One T-34 Tank-Tomato at a Time

“Russia is able to become the world’s largest supplier of healthy, ecologically clean and high-quality food, which Western producers have long lost,” Putin told parliament after the Turkish ban was imposed.
Russia last year joined dozens of nations in banning the commercial planting of genetically modified organisms and has since barred GMO imports -- putting Putin at the vanguard of an increasingly vocal global movement.
But the crowning achievement of his food strategy so far is grain. Russia overtook the U.S. this year to become the biggest exporter of wheat -- a milestone that followed bumper yields of corn, rice, soybeans and buckwheat.

U.S. lawmakers question whether EPA staff influenced WHO glyphosate review

One question that lawmakers are trying to answer, according to sources: whether EPA staff are allowing personal bias to color the agency's scientific review.
According to the committee's letter to the EPA, and reviewed by Reuters, lawmakers want congressional staff to interview four top EPA officials who were involved in one or both reviews of glyphosate, to better understand agency processes.

First crop of GMO Granny Smith non browning apples is set to hit the market in September. Dried apple slices are already on the shelves. The apples were created using a genetic engineering technique known as RNAi (RNA interference). There have been no feeding trials - human or animal - to prove that these are safe for consumption. The apples will be labeled "Arctic Apple" and are being marketed to children. How will you know when it's rotten? You won't. Watch the time elapse video to see what a rotten GMO apple looks like. Bunge adds non-GMO feed product to portfolio

“The most logical thing for us to do was to have a path to a larger program,” he said. “To do that we started with one facility – Crete is the only facility where we’re having non-GMO runs right now.”

Bunge has contracted acres in advance with growers to potentially increase amounts milled in the fall, said Ellis. It is planning for steady growth over time, but, several of the production decisions will be based on demand.

“We had to put a stake in the ground,” he said. “We’ve set ourselves up to have corn coming out of the ground on farms in Crete’s mill shed and Danville Illinois’ mill shed – that will be part of the steady growth to this.”

Bunge is also in the process of having another mill approved by for GMO-free production, he added.

In Memory of Dr. Mae-Wan Ho

Dr. Mae-Wan Ho (November 12, 1941 – March 24, 2016) was an unusual scientist, as she herself recognized. While GMO supporters and advocates criticized her, this was further proof that she was right about GMOs. Some say she was visionary, and many of the predictions she made about GMOs decades ago have – alarmingly – come to pass. Long before the human genome project announced their findings about their discovery of how genes work in 2001 (which fundamentally nullified the Central Dogma of biology), Dr. Mae-Wan Ho had already been talking about this for years. She published a book that covered this in 1998; a second edition appeared in 2000:

NAS Report Shows GM Crops ‘Clearly Not the Answer to World Hunger’

The report also found there was no evidence that GMO crops have improved yields. The report found “no significant change in the rate at which crop yields increase could be discerned from the data.”

Hansen concluded, “Despite industry claims, these crops are clearly not the answer to world hunger. It’s equally clear that consumers deserve an informed choice about the products in the marketplace.”

Scientist who discovered that GMO’s cause tumors wins lawsuit

A court has ruled that French Professor Gilles-Eric Séralini was correct when he concluded that GMO food, when fed to rats, caused serious health problems including tumors. reports:

Now, Prof. Séralini is in the news again – this time for winning a major court victory in a libel trial that represents the second court victory for Séralini and his team in less than a month.
On November 25, the High Court in Paris indicted Marc Fallous, the former chairman of France’s Biomolecular Engineering Commission, for “forgery” and the “use of forgery.” The details of the case have not been officially released.

But according to this article from the Séralini website, Fallous used or copied the signature of a scientist whose name was used, without his agreement, to argue that Séralini and his co-workers were wrong in their studies on Monsanto products, including GM corn.A sentencing for Fallous is expected in June 2016.
Second Court Victory Reached

This was the second such court victory for the professor’s team, following a November 6 victory in a defamation lawsuit over an article in the French Marianne magazine which categorized the Séralini team research as “scientific fraud”.

What few people realize about the original Séralini study on GMOs is that it was only retracted after a serious PR offensive from Monsanto and the Biotech industry, one that included the creation of a whole new position on the original Food and Toxicology journal: Associate Editor for Biotechnology.
The new position was actually filled by a former Monsanto employee who helped convince the journal’s author to retract the study.

Now more than 2 years later, these are the facts: Séralini and his team’s original study has been republished in a different peer-reviewed journal,Environmental Sciences Europe.

They have won two key lawsuits against those who have attempted to ruin their reputations; and a recent peer-reviewed letter even asserted that Séralini and his team may have been right after all on their discovery showing tumors in lab rats fed GMOs.

In other words, the jury is still out on GMO safety to say the very least, just as countless independent scientists have warned, and Séralini’s study stands as yet another cause for concern with the ongoing GMO experiment.
It also shows the lengths that the Biotech industry will go to in order to discredit any independent science that clashes with their own version of science.

Who Approved the Genetically Engineered Foods Coming to Your Plate? No One.

The debate over genetically modified foods is about to get a lot more heated in Washington, D.C.
DuPont Pioneer’s new waxy corn hybrid and a Penn State plant scientist’s “anti-browning” white button mushroom are the latest additions to a fast-growing pile of new genetically engineered crops that have so far avoided any government regulation.

New gene-editing techniques like CRISPR are making this possible, and they are underscoring the fact that the regulatory system hasn’t kept up with the breakneck pace of biotechnological innovation.

It’s not for lack of trying. Last summer, the White House called on the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Food and Drug Administration to “modernize” the federal system for regulating “products of biotechnology,” including crops. In line with that, in February the USDA informed the public of its intent to change its system for regulating genetically engineered organisms.

TAKE ACTION! Ask your Member of Congress and Senators to remove the Monsanto Promotion Act. Tell them you don’t want your taxes to be spent on corporate welfare or industry propaganda, especially not to promote Monsanto’s GMOs!
