There were lots of wrecks! Some good defensive driving by Gordon in that first wreck. I can't believe he made it through all those cars!

I have to agree likewise. Alot of 3 and 4 wide racing, a few big wrecks, not to mention lead changes where anyone could be the winner, makes for some very exciting racing IMO. Maybe Dunmmy2 should try watching a race, might even like it. It isn't as simple as driving around in a circle, those guys get a workout in those cars. And if my love of racing makes me a redneck, so be it.

I'll bet you're able to suck the air out of a room without even trying. What race fan cares what you think about racing? If you don't like it, don't watch; just go off to a corner and pull the wings off flies, and be happy. Heck, if you eat them, I'll be happy, too.

I watched an interview with Scott Riggs and Tommy Baldwin Racing yesterday. They just pulled this team together within the last month or so and got their first sponsor while at Daytona! It'll be pretty interesting to see how well they do.

Rain threatens start of Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Rain is threatening to delay the start of the Daytona 500.

Intermittent showers were expected to move across Daytona International Speedway a few hours before the start of the NASCAR race, which could potentially delay the green flag. It takes about two hours to completely dry the 2 1/2-mile superspeedway after a rainstorm.

NASCAR officials, though, were hopeful the season-opening race would be completed Sunday even if the entire event had to take place under the lights and in prime time.

Local forecasts called for a 70 percent chance of rain and scattered showers all afternoon and throughout the evening.

ok .... it got rained out and I have a question for those who were watchin..

when Vicker went to block Jr, did he tap Jr as he was coming down
then when Jr cames back up he clipped Vickers. Vickers doesn't say anything about it cept that something should be done to Jr. Jr said Vickers clipped him as he came down then he(Jr) clipped as he was coming back up.
What did you all see.

Vicker's made a legal move but a dangerous one. Jr. had lots of time to back off and get back on the track. But no he drove like his dad and wanted to bully himself back in. There's blame on both sides but you got to be smart about it. For all of his money, endorsements ect Jr. has to have some brains, but sometimes he's as dumb as a post.By the way Red, Busch drives the No. 18 M&M's car. Martin drives the No. 5 \:D

I'm just glad Edwards got out of that car to run. That was an awful wreck. When you saw it in slow motion that fence didn't look like it was going to hold. Can you imagine the people sitting there?

I know, but I never noticed any of those people acting freaked out or anything---after watching the replay quite a few times, I started looking at the people rather than the car. That was one amazing wreck!

I always gripe about restricter plates at the beginning of the SS races, but by then end my griping has lessened ;\)

Thank goodness everyone ended up ok today. Lots of wrecks. And a big CONGRATZ to the rookie and his first cup win!!

It's hard for me to watch NASCAR anymore. I like all forms of racing from Formula One to local DIRT. But the pre race announcers, the Digger cartoons and Bubba The Love Sponge as Grand Marshall? Is their demographic 12-14 year olds? They can't find anyone more deserving of being a Grand Marshall than Bubba the Love Sponge? Golly!!!!!

I will listen to the SIRIUS broadcast during the next race I watch. See if that's any better. I can't take to much more of Digger, DW and his Boogities!!!

I don't mind DW, but the digger crap is just plain stupid.

Was the Budweiser car on display somewhere today? I took this pic this morn at the Waterloo Holiday Inn.

Ok - I understand and agree with your issue with the Digger cartoons. I refuse to watch pre-race because I don't want to see anymore of that...but have you ever heard Bubba the Love Sponge? I am all for Freedom of Speech, everyone having the right to listen to whatever they want, and respecting that people have their own personal preferences, but no 12 year old of mine will be listening to Bubba. However, I can say that he is a big Nascar fan and talks quite a bit about it on his show each day. Anyone being able to bring that much publicity to the sport is deserving of some recognition from time to time.

I have never heard of Bubba. Don't know anyone that listens to him. I have Sirius. Listening to Howard, I've heard he does toilet humor and made a porn star cry. Howards not much better. I just think there are so many other people that could be given that honor. I'm not sure it's an honor, but will go with that.

If Freddie Lorenzen's LaFayette Ford #28 rolls in, wake me up.

Real race car drivers make right turns and race in the rain, so that leaves these red necks out.
It also explains why some of the NUTCAR drivers hire road racers to drive for them at Infineon and Watkins Glen.
