Hopewell, N.Y. One person was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester by a Mercy Flight helicopter after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 10 and Routes 5 and 20 just after 3 p.m. today.

As of about 4 p.m. the eastbound lane of Routes 5 and 20 was closed as state police investigators surveyed the scene and firefighters from Canandaigua and Hopewell swept up the shattered glass from a heavily damaged red Pontiac Grand Am.

The sedan had apparently collided with a large flatbed truck in the intersection. The truck was parked further up the road and had only a cracked headlight.

A Mercy Flight helicopter landed in the nearby parking lot of Finger Lakes Community College and took one of the drivers to Strong. Police at the scene would not identify the person or speculate on the extent of the injuries.
