NY is a greedy state, how do people afford to live there with all the different taxes as they are? Now he wants to create more

I see no problem with taxing soda. For me it will be no big deal, I hardly ever drink it. Maybe it will encourage people to drink more water. Hmmm, I don't see anyone complaining because they pay for bottled water or a monthly water bill to their local water authority.

It's so Patterson can tax us for whatever he wants. TRD, you dodn't care because you drink much soda, ok... Nobody cared 10 months ago when they decided to tax cigarettes if they didn't smoke. Nobody cares until they tax something they use...

It's all about the money, don't believe anything else... If you do want to swallow their act that is for health, that is even worse than saying I am greedy idiot of a Governor... We are supposed to be free, why can our government tell us we have to be healthier or be taxed? It goes against what our country was founded on...

Great tidbit AS, I had no idea this was the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party... The smug look on patterson's face like we NY'ers will sit here and take these idiotic taxes is disgusting. I don't think he understands he has bought himself a lot of trouble over a stupid tax!!!!!

Stand up and tell your wanna be supreme leader Pattrson to shut up, we have a voice and will not take being taxed to the bone!!!

Impeach Paterson!!!

How much money is this tax on soda gonna bring in? How much is the Lawsuit gonna cost NY to defend and settle a lawsuit that Coke and Pepsi file?

Since 2003 sugar has undergone the same assault as tobacco. The “purists” label it the “white death”. The WHO wants it to be no more than 10% of the “normal” diet. The same will befall any type of sweetener. Is it being taxed because it is healthier for us? No, it’s because we will pay it. Like any other tax. Find something people like or need and tax it. Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. My arse

Knew I moved down south for a reason!! That state is just a big toilet bowl starting to swirl out of control with their taxing everything... their only solution to all the greedy wealthy ones out there - and the low and middle class will suffer before any of the high class have to. SO SAD!!

Not only do I have to give up my Skoal now I have to give up drinking Pepsi. What's left? Maybe they will start to tax our "gas" like the new cow tax. NY is getting a bit out of hand. People already leaving in droves, now they tax our soda pops!!

BE GLAD TO GIVE OUR CLASSIFIEDS TO YA!! http://classified.hamptonroads.com/ JUST HAVE TO MENTION ONE MORE THING TOO... NOT TALKING ON OUR CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING WAS "VOTED OUT" BY THE PEOPLE HERE. WE ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE AND TALK AT THE SAME TIME BUT NY DOESN'T GIVE THE PEOPLE THE OPTION TO VOTE... THEY DICTATE WHAT YOU DO THERE!
