What school group or other organization does this benefit?

This is a dinner sponsored by an outside organization. The Geneva Football Boosters Club had filled out the proper paper work last winter to do the same thing. BUT were denied the chance by Dr. Young who let an outside organization hold a fundraiser instead of a booster club that takes care of the same student-athletes he supposebly is in charge of. How about that he chose somebody else over his own students. How's that for leadership, I would say pretty crappy.....

What nobody has a comment to make about this? Everybody gets there knickers in an uproar about the silliest things dealing with the school district. But now nobody cares that our Super allowed another organiztion to benefit from using our school cafeteria when one of our booster clubs originally wanted to do the same thing? Go figure, only in Geneva. Maybe I shoud start a thread on how overpaid everybody is....

I really don't care... ...but who is the Ziti dinner benefiting, not who is holding the fundraiser? See fundraiser is the key word there... ...You make it sound like some company is coming using the kitchen and the dinner to make a profit...

Can I see him letting a company for this over students? Of course...

I'm sure a company coming in has staff experienced in cooking in commercial kitchens, and most importantly is insured. If they let the booster club do it, who do you think would be on the hook for medical bills if little Billy the football player hurts himself in the kitchen while cooking???

The dinner was put on by St. Stephans/Desales schools by parents and young children were serving? So what is your point !!! My point is he allowed a private school to come in and use Geneva facilities and benefit by this over his own student-athletes. The Booster Club probably lost between $1500-2000 dollars last night. The Booster Club had filed the proper paperwork months in advance,St. Stephans did not. BUT HE STILL ALLLOWED THEM TO USE THE FACILITIES AND BASICALLY TOLD THE BOOSTER CLUB. TOUGH LUCK !!!!! Thanks Dr. Young

You have confused money that was estimated to be earned with money lost... Simple mistake...

Instead of whining about Dr who, you could have helped the boosters rent out another kitchen (legion, red cross, VFW, YMCA) and hold a dinner anyway and re coop the money "lost"... Guess it is just easier to put the blame on someone else...

There is always a ziti dinner on election night at the High School by one organization or another. The people who cook for the school are the ones that use all the equipment and cook the ziti. Club 86 donated the sauce and meatballs. A request was put in by this organization a long time ago before anyone else and was okayed before the booster. How do I know because I happen to be one of the cooks. If their request was put in first it would have been them.

They pay taxes? I thought they were tax-free, being owned by a church? Hmmm.

I wasn't criticizing the church - just surprised to think the school would pay taxes on anything. It was an open question, not a slam. I'll leave the slammin' to you, King.

It is time for the Football boosters to stop whinning. Complaining about overlooking our own kids when they themselves stopped other boosters from using school property for fundraising for years. The Football boosters denied other sports boosters and other groups from using the concession stand at Loman field. Seems somewhat disingenuous.

The Football boosters do a great job supporting our kids, but they are not the only group that does so. The school is part of the greater Geneva Community and should be there for all to use when possible.

Thank you.

If the church pays taxes or not, who cares. How much taxes does the Geneva public school the football players go to? Exactly, both school's parents pay school taxes... Whats the big deal? Because a parent pays school tax and their child doesn't go to public school, but pays tuition at a private school, their child looses the right to hold a fundraiser at the public school they help pay for to a kids just because they go to that public school? I don't see the logic in that... (that was not directed to you Judy)
