Any opinions? I'm tired of paying VZ $82 monthly for 150 minutes average usage. Ten cents a minute sounds pretty good right now. Any one ever use them? Can you port your old phone number(s)? How is the coverage? Any dropped calls?

I have been using Net10 for about 5 months now. Coverage is excellent. There are areas around here that i could never get service no matter what carrier i had. I can with this phone. I also love the fact that a bill never shows up. Its prepaid AND you get a free phone. $30 for 300 minutes AND a phone. I also love the fact that Wal-Mart has them. Txt messages are only 5 cents too. The only hook is you have to get a 300 minute card every 2 months so if you really monitor your minutes it will be a minimun of $15 a month. Not a bad deal at all. If you are a big talker or texter, its not the phone for you. But if you want the convenience of having a cell phone without a big bill, this is definitely the one.

I have a tracfone for emergencies but seldom ever use it. I have to buy 60 mins every 3 months (I think, maybe its 2) for $20. I have a tone of minutes built up I'll probably never use. But, I like the phone and will keep it. Coverage has been no problem the little I use it.

I also have an AT&T GoPhone that I pay $25 for 3 months of calls. 25cents a minute, but its ok by me, I also seldom use it and it rolls the minutes over so right now I end up having over $284 in minutes.

Ahh... but the bad thing is with gophone you HAVE to refill your balance every 1-3 months for them to roll over... If your balance expires tomorrow, it's not like you use your $284 you stocked up... That goes as well...

if you pay $25 every three months and have a balance of $284 you are paying to much...

You are not using it so why pay for it? You need to find anther carrier that its your needs... Or buy a $100 AT&T card once a year ($100 dollar cards are good for a year)...

Not really, if I used it often then it would be OK. Whats the difference if it is $25 every quarter or $100 annual. It still rolls over, if I decided to use it every day. I always renew every 3 months and have never lost my minutes.

Yea but rolling over to what? Your really never using that balance because you have to reload money to keep it active... If you have a balance $284 you are wasting you money... You don't use $25 in 3 months when would you ever use $284 in 3 months? If you decide to leave gophone you will loose that balance...

It's not like you are ever going to use that balance it makes you feel better to see it roll over, but it is just wasted, because you have to add another $25 that you are not going to use all of if you wanna keep it...

Both of my sons have prepaid phones. One has Net 10, the other Verizon. The Net 10 always lasts longer. ALOT longer. Verizon charges you daily for usage on top of the texting and talk fees. Net 10 also gives bonus minutes for the first couple of refills. Usually an additional 100 mins. I do have to say that we are going to look into the new Cricket $25.- unlimited everything plan. Sounds to good to be true and I am really reluctant of putting teenagers on a plan. Nor will I just hand them luxuries that they can live w/out. But like I said, it might be worth looking into.

I also have a Net 10 phone...love it! Minutes are cheap, never dropped calls, and doesn't charge 'double' minutes for roaming like my tracphone did. When you refill your minutes it just keeps pushing the date back before you have to add more. I just added minutes and now not due for more until September of next year so far! 150 minutes for $15..I am refilling my child's tracphone at $18 and change for 60 minutes...definately changing that phone out..(especially for a teen that wants to text friends --less expense to us!)
