Im looking for someone that will come into my home every now and then to watch my children while I go shopping, dinner, out or whatever. I remember when I was a teen my weekends were booked. I watched kids all the time. I dont know any that really do this anymore. The ones I do know I would not have babaysit. Does anyone now one with some good references????

Do you have any neighbor's that you can trust? Older kids of friends that have shown responsibility and can be trusted?

Wow never had a sitter huh??? I remember doing it all the time as a teen. I wonder if kids just are not doing it these days or they are too busy with other stuff.

Another thought would be a senior citizen. There are probably seniors with "empty nest" that would love to be around children. When I was a child my parents had a senior citizen that used to sit with us. It was neat because both "grannies" were gone and it was like having a grandmother. She used to read to us, etc. I am sure she could use the little extra money too.

No it does not. Like I said my weekends were full and so were my friends. We were always sitting with kids. I dont want to start a debate ot make it seem I want to leave my boys home to party, I would just (like most parents) some adult time. I dont know a lot of people and thought someone with references might be interested.

They have Grandmas, but if Im going to be late I dont want to wake the kids to come home and dont really think its right to ask an older person to come to my home when they would be more comfy at theirs. My 1 yr old would live that. We joke saying he can pick a Grammy out of any crowd of people.

When my brothers and I were growing up, my parents were out working so I (being the oldest) stayed home and did everything. I was 8 when my youngest brother was born and of course back then, you could leave your 8 year old home alone. Don't get caught now....good luck in finding someone! I have a family member who is 19 and works only parttime @ Walmart. I'll ask her if she's available but I doubt it since she does have a bf and anyone having a teenage daughter knows that bfs take the #1 spot over anything else.
