The Geneva Boxing Team took the gold and silver up in Canada at the St Catharines International Cup. Aleem "Hammer" Whitfield took the gold in the 165lb weight division by defeating Ryan Baulk from the Canadian team 19-5. Whitfield boxed flawlessly, using his jab to keep his opponent away then coming inside with devestating body shots. Whitfield did not try to knock out Baulk like he did against his first opponent but rather put on a boxing clinic that would make any coach proud. In the other bout that we took the silver, Tony "All In" Brinson came out strong against Calum Johnson, the champion from Scotland. Using his speed and footwork he kept the bigger opponent off balance. The score was tied going into the second round. In the later rounds Johnson kept throwing a big barrage of punches towards Brinson. Tony kept up with him but fell short in the end. After the match, Johnson complemented Tony by saying he was amazed at how fast his hands and feet were and he never fought someone this quick. So all in all we had another great tournament and another title to go on the wall. We will be hosting a boxing match in November. Look for the card sometime in October.
