Anyone ever make omelets this way ???

ZIPLOCK OMELETS Good when you're alone or when all your family is together. Best feature is that no one has to wait for their special omelet ! Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs into the quart size Ziploc bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake.

Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Cut the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed. Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; Everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece. Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 13 minutes, you have a nice omelet for a quick breakfast!

Aren't these awesome, we do these when the kids come home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do them the night before and then everyone has a wonderful breakfast of their own, with coffee cake, coffee, hot cocoa and anything else, that may pop up on the menu. Even if they are not here the night before, I know what they like to get it ready for them. Such a wonderful invention.

Awesome,Highlander.

I need to try this as Hubby likes omelets alot. Thank you for the tip.. Also if you just want a scrambled egg fast, mix an egg and alittle milk , salt & pepper in medium styrofoam cup. Does very nice job. But boy this ziplock tip is just great.

Have a great day... Chance..

Wouldn't it be easier to tell her how to make them night before. Just curious. Seems like dry ice and by the time you send it...it would be easier. JMO.

Oh POOP indeed! I just gave this recipe to my niece as my contribution to her Brunch Recipe book for her shower yesterday...and 1/2 the other people there took down the recipe, too! Now I have to contact everyone to NOT do this! Sigh \:\(

Try UNICHEF® nylon bags for roasting, steaming, boiling, or freezing. For planning ahead, or meeting emergency rushes, foods can be cooked in the bag one day, and be ready to heat and serve another.

All UNICHEF® nylon bags meet applicable FDA regulations and are NSF and Kosher approved.

I am not sure where you could buy these specific bags, but maybe the local stores carry something comparable that also meet the FDA guidelines.

I wondered too what was preventing the regular ziplock bag to "not" melt.

I just got off the phone and the bags and liners can be ordered from the website or at this address/number. I talked to a rep. named Ray and he said the liners and bags have minimum quanitys. The liners come 100 to a case and the bags at 500 to a case and you can specify custom sizes. Perhaps as a group you could make an order if you had enough people interested. Not available retail. Ziplocks were not available.
