I decided to switch from The Host to Silent Thunder by Iris Johansen.

I requested White Oleandor from the library. Thanks Della Just got an email that I can pick it up Tuesday. Finished Silent Thunder by Iris Johansen--it was good, but not as good as most of her other books. Not one of my favorite authors,(I HATE his endings!) but I'm going to start The Guardian by Nicolas Sparks--it's a very quick read.

I just read The Guardian a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. I know what you mean sometimes you just want something to pass the time! I do think you'll enjoy White Oleandor.

My friend is going to Salem so I just reread The Crucible \:\)

I've been reading mystery books for the last few months, so picked up something different today. "A Summer Affair", by Elin Hilderbrand. Not the type of book I'd like to read on a regular basis, but enjoyable. Already 1/2 way through it.

Started White Oleandor yesterday afternoon. I'm probably 75 pages into it. Even the beginning is disturbing, but so far, a good read nonetheless.

I only got about 1/3 of the way through The Guardian. Knowing how badly I DETEST Nicolas Spark's endings, I put it down to read WO. I NEVER do that! Once I start a book, I have to finish it before I start another. I'll pick it up when I finish this one. And then again, maybe not. I also picked up Absolute Power by David Baldacci yesterday. Can't wait to read that one!

White Oleander was an amazing book!! My other favorite that I read a few years ago is I Know This Much is True, by Wally Lamb, phenomenal!

"I Know This Much Is True" was my first choice, but since it's summer, the 900 pages were too much and I had "Big Russ and Me" sitting here waiting to be read...then "Wisdom of our Fathers", then "Silent Thunder" by Iris Johansen and now "White Oleandor"! I'm usually a 'winter' reader, way too much going on in the summer to make time to read, especially a 900 page book. So I'm holding onto that one till the snow flies.

So far, White Oleandor is very disturbing. I haven't gotten to the amazing part of it yet, but I'm working on it.

Has anyone read James Patterson's SAIL? I love this author, but I read the book cover jacket and it didn't intrique me the way most of his novels do.

Read it a couple weeks ago. I thought it was good, if a little predictable(sp). A departure from his usual stuff but worth the read.

Just finished Phantom Prey by John Sandford. Another good one from this author but not as strong as some of his others in the Prey series.

I love the humor writers, Dave Barry (my favorite) and Carl Hiaasen. Dave spares no one, not even his conservative Presbyterian late father. Carl has some freaky characters. Interesting and fun.
