Need new ideas for my crock pot- tired of the usual stews, chilis, and soups. Any ideas?????

Have you tried roasting a chicken in your crockpot...or a pot roast or bbq or country style ribs?

I've done a whole chicken fryer in mine, (oval style) I put in with a jar of salsa, a can of diced tomatoes, garlic cloves, cumin, oregano, chili powder, bay leaf, salt and pepper. I put on in in the morning, when I get home from work, I add a drained can of black or pinto beans for a chili chicken that just falls apart. Serve over noodles or rice.

That sounds delicious!

Chicken Enchilada Casserole

1 lg can cream of chicken soup
1 16 oz Sour cream or plain yogurt
2 sm. cans diced green chilis
2-3 cooked boneless/skinless chicken breast diced/shredded

Shredded cheddar cheese
Round tortilla chips

Mix first 4 ingredients together then layer in the crockpot
soup mixture/chips/cheese

Cook on low 4-6 hours

I have a large crockpot and double this recipe. My family and coworkers love it

CROCK POT PIZZA

1 1/2 lb. hamburger (browned & drained)
2/3 of 16 oz. box spiral macaroni (cooked & drained)
2 (12 oz.) pkg. shredded mozzarella cheese
1 sm. can mushrooms (chopped & drained)
1 c. chopped onion
2 (16 oz.) cans pizza sauce
1 (3 oz.) pkg. pepperoni

Combine in a big pot everything but cheese and pepperoni. Layer this and cheese and pepperoni in a crock pot. Finish with cheese and pepperoni on top. Cook on low temperature for 5 hours. Serves 8.

I spotted this on a search and thought it sounded good but not a "dump and go" recipe. I wonder if the pasta would overcook?
Anyone do anything similar?

Easy, All-Day Meatloaf and Vegetables

Makes 6 servings

4 large, or 6 medium potatoes, sliced
6 carrots, sliced or bag of baby carrots
1/4 tsp. salt
1 & 1/2 lbs. ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup cracker crumbs
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup finely chopped onions
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. dried marjoram
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Place potatoes and carrots in slow cooker. Sprinkle with 1/4 tsp. salt.

Combine remaining ingredients. Mix well and shape into loaf. Place loaf on top of vegetables, making sure that it doesn’t touch sides of slow cooker.

Cover. Cook on Low 8-10 hours.

I have a nice book of crock pot foods that my mother made me. I could post one a day probably. It really has some great recipes.

chuck roast with onions, stewed tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, and potatos. Makes its own gravy. Mix some corn starch mixure in to thicken.

I've done pork picnic, boneless ribs, pot roast, beef brisket, and a corned beef brisket in mine.(as well as chili!!)

The family LOVES the corned beef fixed in there instead of doing the old "boiled dinner" thing with the corned beef, cabbage and other veteables. Comes out much more flavorful that way! I start mine EARLY in the am on high, like as soon as the kids are off to school! ( need make sure everything is cooked nicely by dinner time!)

That reminds me...some female chef on food network just did a Morocan Style beef brisket in her slow cooker. Sorry I can not remember her name. You may be able to find the exact recipe on food networks's recipe site.


She seasoned the brisket with a "rub" made with sea salt, pepper, coriander, and cumin. Then let that rest for about 20 min. She then added potatoes, carotts, red onion, and apricots to the meat and topped it off with a bottle of red wine. Cooked on high (for like 7 hours) and served it with jasmin rice or cous cous.

CROCK POT RIBS

3/4 c vinegar 1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 ketchup 1 teaspoon salt
2 TBSP 1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 TBSP worchestershire 1 garlic clove minced
1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 TBSP vegetable oil 2 LBS Pork Spareribs


Combine the first 9 ingredients in a slow cooker. Cut ribs into serving size pieces and brown in an oiled skillet. Add browned ribs to sauce in slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until tender.

Dug the Crock-pot out earlier this week to do a potroast.
Going to experiment a bit today with it.

6 frozen boneless chicken thighs
a packet of taco seasoning
a cup or so of medium salsa
chopped bell pepper
chopped onion

I'll toss in some chopped olives too..
We'll see how it all comes out in 8 hours....

Now if I can figure out how to do jerk chicken in the slow cooker...hmmm I have all-spice somewhere...

6 chicken breast boneless,skinless
6 slices of swiss cheese
1 can of mushroom soup
1/4 can to 1/2 can of water
add to crock pot in that order,
cook on low

I'm doing pulled pork in the crockpot today.

Chicken salsa came out great. I did add chopped olives instead of bell pepper. Served with rice.

I do this one with pork chops too, yummy

With Chicken I like to use spaghetti sauce to be different, I think it's a generic version of Ricks recipe LOL
