Ok I'm guessing there's probably a recipe on this thread some place but I'm not gonna look for it since it's long gone so I'm asking if anyone out there has this recipe? I've searched all my cookbooks and nothing. I know there's broccoli (obviously), bacon, raisins, and a few other things along with some kind of dressing. What's the dressing? Thanks!

Isn't it basically coleslaw dressing?

here is what I make .... I could eat the whole bowl myself ...

2 bunches of Broccoli(5-6 cups)
1 med red onion chopped . I use what ever onion I have
1/2 cup rasins (i use black rasins, DIL uses white)
10 - 12 slices of bacon ,fried and crumbled

dressing
1 cup mayo
2 T balsamic vinegar (DIL uses red wine vinegar)
2 t sugar.
mix well

seperate florets from broccoli stalks. combine salad ingredients in a large bowl. Mix with dressing mixture.Chill and serve
I add match a handful stix carrots also(about 1 cup or so)

(Save remainder of broccoli for something another use or freeze for later.)

I seem to be the only one in my family that will eat it. Our neighbors up the street from us came down Sunday for a cookout and she brought a spinach salad very similar to the broccoli one. It was awesome (minus the onions)!

You could also add strawberry or raspberry jam to the dressing.. very good

Okay, I don't mean to be, well, mean but can someone PLEASE explain to me the attraction of putting something sweet like sugar or jam or (God forbid!) Miracle Whip on a food as otherwise yummy as broccoli??? I don't get it. If you want dessert, then have dessert...but a vegetable salad should be savory! Sigh...Okay, that's off my chest now...

Carry on.

Well of course...But I just had to get that off my chest...like I said. I feel better for having done so and you aren't prevented from actually putting strawberry jam on broccoli.

Jam on broccoli? Yuck! Sounds-gross! No thanks. I'll just keep my salad plain.

I don't see what the big deal is...last night I watched a show and the chef had homemade bisquits, butter, cappicola, and strawberry jam as a mini sandwich.... Expand your horizons
