I don't know what it is, but my desire for
NFL football has diminished in recent years.
Like college basketball vs. the NBA, I'm
thinking the college game is fresher and
more exciting.

SWFLG and I agree on something. While I'm not crazy about watching sports on TV (I'd rather go to a game than watch on TV) I do prefer college over pro.

Same here. I find football games on TV boring and even have lost the desire to watch SU football at the stadium(not just because they suck I just find it too slow). College basketball to me is full of emotion and is fast pace and I never seem to get enough of it...

Agree about the NBA. It's become a joke. I'm more a fan of the college game too lately especially the hardwood game. There are a few NFL matchups though that pop up that truly are don't miss, not like the one that started this thread. ESPN has to be asking themselves, "Why us? 1-5 versus 1-5?? Arrgh" They do seem to get a lot of "dog" games don't they. At least Joe Theismann is there to call every play the best one he's ever seen. Gimme a break Joe. Call 'em like they are. A good play is only a good play. Sheeesh!

steeler fan here also, since the early 70's too....another big test this week with another undefeated team, the Eagles. hopefully they broadcast this game instead of the "Boring Bills"....Next Monday Nights game ought to be a high scoring festival Colts and Vikings. also, playing Fantasy Football makes watching the games more exciting, i'm in my 16th season of playing, it's a hoot.....biggie

Have some decent matchups this weekend. Good looking games are:

Philly v. Steelers at 1:00 (probably won't get it here)
Vikes at Colts on Monday night.

Only other decent looking game (as in competitive and exciting) might be the New England at St. Louis game at 4:15 mostly because the Patriots are a good team but there's talk that they might be "exposed" after getting handled by Pittsburgh last week. Interest in seeing of they rebound against a "decent" team like St. Loo.

The rest of the games are dogs bit I think the Bills might surprise this weekend. Don't they usually give the Jets trouble in Buffalo regardless of the records?

I LOVE the NFL. So much parity. Every game is a toss up. My advice... bet every underdog all season long. You'll love the NFL too.

Another tip that will get you to enjoy NFL football more is to buy yourself a High Definition TV. There is nothing quite as beautiful than ESPN's Sunday Night game or Monday Night Football in HD. Beats being at the game.

Did you see that left handed shuffle pass from Manning to James near the end of the game. Amazing reflexes. This guy Manning looks like the best prepared QB I've ever seen. Heard he studies film a lot but WOW what a performance last night.

That whole Colts offense brings back fond memories of Kelly, Reed and Thomas. The 3 cogs in the Bills machine of old.

Steelers and Cleveland (best game)
Baltimore and the J-E-T-S!!!
Vikings and the Packers
BILLS and the Pats (Buffalo could surprise again)

The rest of the games are dogs.

Saw they lost in OT right. Didn't see the end. Bad clock thing again with the coach? He did that last year. 6-3 now and going the wrong way for the JETS.

If he's half the quarterback big brother is he should do fine. I hope he does well and brings some consistency to the Giants. Gets his first game against who? Oh, Vick's Falcons. Good time to shine and knock off a front runner.

Week 13 games that should be good watching, in my opinion:

5 stars - Denver at San Diego
5 stars - Green Bay at Philly

That's it! The rest are either very predictable or dog matchups. Feel like Ricky Williams has robbed us of an annual classic Bills Dolphins game, that selfish jerk.

Biggest "must miss" game:

SF at STL (6 wins combined)

OK I can sleep well now. STEELERS won.. I believe that Patriots, Eagles and Steelers are 11-1 now!! That was a nail bitter and what a boring game b/w Philly and the Cheese Heads.. Do they all have homefield advantage now or do they need to have more games before deciding that?

Wow what a day of football!! GO BILLS! love that fish squishin!
The JAN. 2nd Bills v. Steelers game is shaping up to be HUGE for
Buffalo, if we can win the next three. If Pitt keeps winning, I wonder if they will play the first string come that game, if they are already in the playoffs??? Potentially a Huge game for the home team! GO BILLS!

Yeah the squishin' of the fish was quite an amazing feat! I do like the Bills but am a die hard Steeler fan and I get stuck in the corner at my parents house when the teams play each other.. My parents are originally from Pa. but have moved up here since then they like the BIlls!! If Pttsbgh keeps winning it is hard to tell what Cower will do.. It should be a great game though!!

Steelers can't afford to lose a game or they lose home field to the Pats. If both run the table Steelers have advantage based on head to head win so don't expect them to lay down with second stringers agaianst the Bills at season's last game. If Buffalo wants it they're going to have to earn it on 1/2/05.

And Gio, that's "IGGLES" not Eagles. I told a bunch of friends from Philly that "booed" when McNabb was drafted that they would learn to like him. Now he walks on water there. Good for Donovan McNabb.

Patroits have only one challanging game left the rest of the way against the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. Rest are cupckaes (Cincy and S.F. at home and the 'Fins on the road). They should finish 15-1.

Steelers have Jets and Ravens at home and visit the Gints before they finish in Buffalo. Their schedule is tougher than the Pats.

Ahem, Steelers and Pat's are 12-1.. WHOO HOO.. Eagles are tied with the Redskins right now and don't know about that one yet..If the Eagles pull it off, then it will be the first time in history three teams are 12-1..

I don't know about anyone else but this is looking good...

Eagles did win!
That means it is a record for three teams to go 12-1.. That has never happened before or so they say.. Three teams were 11-1 and that was back in 1984 and now they just broke that one..
Sorry Della.. They will get it together soon...

Ok maybe Buffalo, Phili, and I don't want them to but Monday night I might say the Pats..I have been known to be wrong once in a while though..LOL not often enough...

Ok well I'd bet with the Giants cause they were embarassing last week, plus they traditionally play well on saturdays.... sorry QOP. Looks like we'll all be going to bed early Monday night... Will Peyton Manning get his record against one of the best defenses?? The two other night games look like good ones. Depending on which Seahawk team shows up the Jets could be in for a battle, plus they like to self destruct this time of year anyways. My other winners; Panthers, Chargers, Vikes, Bronco's Eagles, Packers, Texans
Oh and, GO BILLS!

You could very well be correct, but I don't know.. it ain't over til it's over right?? LOL and there are lots of teams that looked embarassing and keep doing so.. Remember the Steelers a few years back and in the early 80's when Knoll was getting ready to retire? I think that maybe all three teams will win and give everyone something to talk about .. hee hee hee

So Steelers and Eagles are 13-1
Pats lost..uh oh..
Do you think that the Eagles are going to go downhill too without TO? I hope not. I hate seeing people get hurt especially the last parts of the games..
Any bets on Super Bowl yet? My boyfriend will be driving Limo down there - too bad I will be starting a new job, I would have drivin limo down there myself too...:) Any one interested in a forum football party?

The Eagles have made it to the Championship game without TO 3X's so I think it will (again) fall on McNabbs shoulders! Unless they fall apart like in the past, there is no team in the NFC that can compete with them imo. So I pick Philly to be the NFC team... AFC hmmm still debatable, Pittsburg looks tough and we now see that the Pats are beatable. Indy looks good but I think their D is weak.(of course i'm still hoping for a long shot wildcard team) Party? I'll bring the jelloshots!

YES I do.. I have been watching since I was knee hi to a grasshopper.:) I thank my dad for teaching me all about the downs, quaterback sneak, offsides etc. One time long ago when there were not all of the expanded teams, I could name all the teams and the quarterbacks who played for them.. I love the games!

Hey I like the Bills too, but my heart lies with the black and gold prince. my parents are originally from PA. and I was raised watching and learning about the Steelers and next week should be a win win situation..

Now it looks as though the Steelers are the only team left with one loss..Philly's game last night- well they did only play the 2nd and 3rd stringers..
Next weeks Bills v. Steelers game shaping up to be huge! The Steelers do not need this win as they already have home field in the playoffs but the Bills need this win.. I would love it if Pittsburgh won, but would be happy to see the Bills win too...
Any bets on Superbowl yet? I think that I know the AFC but who from the NFC conference will go??

THis week is HUGE for da Bills, I'd honestly like to see Pittsburgh start their first team so we can beat em proper... but I'll take a win anyway I can get it and if Cower sits the starters, so be it. The Steelers at "The Ralph" is always an intense rivalry game, there's always tons of Steeler fans who make the trip.... but we gotta win it first and Denver needs to lose!
Buffalo can clinch playoff berth with:
1) BUF win + NYJ loss, OR
2) BUF win + DEN loss or tie, OR
3) BUF tie + DEN loss.

I stick with the conference my team was in (AFC over NFC), then, unless I have a REAL problem with a team in my division, I stick in my division, AFC north.

Therefore, as a Bills fan, I rooted for the
J-E-T-S...JETS JETS JETS!!! yesterday and I will continue to root for them even if they match up against New England (down the road).

That play Eric Barton made was one of the dumbest I have EVER seen in professional football. Absolutely brainless. If they lose, he's would never be back in JETS uniform again...EVER! He got lucky when they won.

AFC:
JETS in the upset, sorry QOP! (shhh I really thing they may get crushed!)but I gotta root for gang green!
Colts in the upset...hmm will it REALLY be an upset if the Colts win?? I think not, maybe only because they are the visitors...
NFC:
Eagles, if like NFL Todays dude said "some receivers show up and actually catch the ball"
Falcons .. this one is the toughest to call imo.

Not "my" team QOP, it was a sentimental favorite, but what a great game! and I was surrounded by Steelers fans so that made it more fun! Best game of the entire weekend, no doubt, by the end I was cheering right along with the Pittsburg gang! Steelers vs. Pats! Go Steelers! Eagles vs. Falcons Go Eagles!

Fight Eagles fight, score a touchdown 1-2-3.
Hit 'em low,
Hit 'em high,
And we'll watch our Eagles fly.
Fly Eagles fly on the road to victory.

I was that after we came home from dinner the score was so high against the Steelers, I knew then it was over and it wasn't even halftime yet. So I let the little lady watch Charmed, and I went to play with the woodstove in the barn. I sure like the idea of getting into a warm truck in the morning.

Yepper! they booed him on national televison Philly idiots! I want him to win just to shove it in there faces! I've thought about finding a chat room for Eagles fans just to remind them of that! Go Donovan!
It should be a good game, I think the Pats are on a major roll right now, and IF the Eagles stop them it will be just barely!

Last night I went away thinking there is no way Philly can beat N.E.

Then this morning I thought maybe, just maybe.....NE actually caught a big break against Pitt when that idiot committed the holding on 3rd and 17. If they stop them there, who knows. Pitt had all the momentum at that point.

Anyway. If the eagles can make the stops on third down that Pittsburg couldn't, then we might have ourselves a ball game. That and IF Owens comes back and is able to contribute.

Holy Cow, this is Super Bowl Time, and we haven't had a jibe in 6 days ?

All the TO talk is good for the Eagles, it has taken all the attention off the team. But, but, then Freddie Mitchell had to go and open his big mouth !

When will they ever learn,
when will they ever learn
