Bianchi Pleads Guilty To Election Law Violation
posted by Greg Cotterill on Tuesday June 26th 3:26pm

Seneca County Republican Chairman Angelo Bianchi was charged Monday with violating election laws.

Bianchi plead guilty Monday night in Junius Town Court. Court documents accused Bianchi of collecting political donations totaling $5,450 from individuals and depositing the money into his personal account. Bianchi then used the money to make political contributions. The money was collected between January 2004 and December 2004.

Junius Town Justice Brian Laird fined Bianchi $100 and gave him a year conditional discharge. One of the conditions of the discharge is that Bianchi step down as the Seneca County Republican Chairman. He has until January next year to resign the leadership position.

State Police investigators would not comment on the case, instead referring questions to Steuben County District Attorney John Tunney. Tunney's secretary said he was unavailable until Thursday.

If I didn't see it on the front page of FL1, I would wonder if you were making it up, Festus! Man, you are quick. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Too bad they can't gather the whole lot of politicians and make it a party.

Is that All? Break the law and it costs you $100. A seat belt violation is more. Some deterrent!

Having to step down is his big punishment. For a man like Angelo this is everything.

I agree. The biggest punishment is publicity for a man like him.

The biggest punishment is removal from office. The SCRC By-laws make provisions for the removal of the Chairman based on "Any County Committee member or the Chair, Secretary or Treasurer of the County Committee may be removed by the County Committee for disloyalty to the party or corruption in office, upon petition upon written charges filed with the Secretary, after notice is given and a hearing has been conducted."

"corruption" shall include, but not be limited to, the taking or omitting of any act regarding or relating to the Party or any of its committees for money or other personal material benefit."

A link to the SCRC By-Laws is here: http://www.electrespect.org/bylaws.htm/

Now we shall see if the current SCRC can do the right thing and remove AB from his Chairmanship prior to the court ordered deadline. Hopefully they will do so before the Primary.

It takes 10 current SCRC members to initate the county committee agenda of discussion of the removal of the Chairman.

The fine should have been a multiple of the amount illegally placed in a personal account. That might get the attention of those who are engaged in such illegal acts.

Congratulations CASEY
Soon you will be the County Chairman, Town Supervisor, Most likely the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, The head of the Sewer and Water Districts. You are the MOST POWERFULL person in Seneca County. The head of Elect Respect.
I can't wait till I get a chance to shake your hand.
Will you be running against Nozzolio next year?
Or will you finish your term as Chairman of the Board.

I agree with your statement. It is about time for Angelo to go. He should have been out years ago. The only thing that concerns me is does he have enough buddies on the committee to hold influence of the committee? A $100 dollar fine? Isn't what he did considered stealing? Regardless, if any of us did what he did, rest assured, we would have been hit harder. However, just seeing his name in the news is reward in itself. Maybe, more will fall like ghost1's post said.

That fine is a joke! Yes he has plenty of influence with many people still on the committee, don't ever doubt that! He has been talking about stepping down now for 2 years do to health issues. This isn't as BIG as some on here have made it out to be-SC/Corruption fighter.

Don't you think he is still LAUGHING that he had to pay a $100 fine? Yugh, let's bring on all the "little men" that dance around him to make sure he thinks he is important. It is not over until he is OUT of office. This is just the beginning of the embarrassment that SC has supported for representation for our futures.
What a FREAKING JOKE!

So all the 'corruption' and over a year of investigations amounts to a misdemeanor and a fine?

I wonder what this special prosecutor cost the taxpayers. Probably a lot more than Bianchi donated illegally.
