This is happening on a laptop that has windows XP. HP pavillion zv5000 harmon/kardon. Another number on laptop is: zv5320us

When I am at a site, say here, I create a shortcut to my desktop. Then when I go to click on the shortcut from my desktop, I get a pop up saying this:
-----------------------
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Creat an association in the folder options controll panel.
------------------------
Okay, I tried but just not understanding and or getting it. Any clue how to make this work? There is one on the laptop for yahoo and it brings me right to there. Weird.

Why would you put a shortcut on your desktop for websites? Just save them in your favorites.

Because I would only have to click on the shortcut and I'm there. If I used the favorites, it would be 3 clicks then I'm there. \:\)

How do you create the shortcut? DO you right click on a page and select "create shortcut"?

Yes, something must be turned off for this. I am able to do it but then it won't work.

You are able to add the link but you are correct that you wont be able to do it unless you make sure you activate Active Desktop then again it might not work right even.

There is a yahoo mail icon on the desktop and when I click on it, it takes me there. But when I add others, they won't take me there. Oops, already said that. The "show desktop" is on but I do not see any "active desktop". I dunno....not really important but whenever something is off, I try to find out why.
