Study Finds Trend Among Imprisoned Vets

By MATT APUZZO

WASHINGTON -- Military veterans are more than twice as likely to be in prison for sex crimes than are people without military experience, the government reports. Federal researchers cannot say why.

A study being released Sunday by the Bureau of Justice Statistics compared the populations of inmates who served in the military and those who did not. Veterans are less likely to be incarcerated, researchers found, but nearly one in four veterans in state prison was a sex offender, compared with one in 10 nonveteran inmates.

"We couldn't come to any definite conclusion as to why," said Margaret E. Noonan, one of the study's authors.

The numbers mirror a trend seen in military prisons, where populations have declined but sexual assault remains the most common crime.

You're always so quick to point it out when military veterans become sex offenders! Why not point out all of the good things these sex offenders do?

You're not permitted to state facts on these forums, when it might possibly cast aspersions on a few of our troops. When you, even obliquely, call some acts by any troops, or veterans, or their spouses, families, and even shirt-tail relatives, mistaken or wrong, don't you realise that you are calling into question the behavior of all of the troops, and indeed, the morality, integrity, and worth of all of those who have ever served, including Lincoln and Washington? I don't care if this study of publicly available statistics was published by the Federal Government; it is obviously a sneaky, wrong-headed, far left LIE! You extremists never miss a chance to LIE and smear our troops!

Have you ever, even once, stopped to consider the possibility that some of these brave offenders committed some of their offenses over there, instead of here, and thus saved some loyal American women and children from unspeakable acts? Stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it, COMMIE!

Something else to think about, smarty: Most of these patriotic Americans offenders are CHRISTIANS, and some were even boy scouts. They've certainly and collectively eaten more apple pie and driven more Chevies than you've ever even thought of; how DARE you impugn their goodness!

Why do you support the enemy all the time?

We have discussed this problem before on the forum. Several posters said they would not want their daughters in the service which is too bad because the average female recruit is better qualified than the average male. They rarely need waivers to enlist women.
The problem with sexual assaults arises from the reality that the military services are Never Never Land for little boys. Little boy behaviors such as constant profane language, excessive drinking, treating all women (including prostitutes) as prostitutes is acceptable. These behaviors are not easy to turn off when the troops are in a non-troop enviroment.
