Iraq may demand timetable for U.S. to get out
By The Washington Post and McClatchy Newspapers
BAGHDAD A majority of Iraq's parliament has expressed support for a proposed bill that would require a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from Iraq and freeze current troop levels.
Much like what Democrats have demanded in the U.S. Congress, the Iraq draft would create a timeline for a gradual departure and would require the Iraqi government to secure parliament's approval before further extensions of the U.N. mandate for foreign troops in Iraq, which expires at the end of 2007.

What's wrong with this picture? The Iraqis want us out of Iraq; The American people want us out of Iraq; The world wants us out of Iraq; but bush2 doesn't want a schedule because it would play into the hands of the insurgents who don't know his term runs out in January 2009. Can we keep it a secret that long?

What's wrong with the picture? Uh, could be that the oil/military/"reconstruction" contractors that Bush has promised Iraq to won't be able to keep siphoning billions out of that country... I mean, really, let's be serious here. Bush knows that if nothing else, we're leaving Iraq after the next elections, because he's destroyed the republican party and pretty much guaranteed a democrat president. Why wouldn't he just leave Iraq now, perhaps saving a tiny SHRED of possibility that his party might retain control of the white house? We know it's not because he really believes in this thing. But what we know he does believe in is the unadulterated right of corporations to rip people off and to make trillions of dollars off the suffering of others - and this Iraq thing has been the most profitable move toward that in years. I think he's just holding out for these scumbags to make as much money as possible before they inevitably have to give up. It's pathetic that human beings - on both sides - are being killed for this, and that some of them actually believe they are fighting for "freedom."
