That name Wedggie makes me think of Eric Wedge. Any link there?

(I'm another Sox fan btw...a transplant from Boston)

Welcome! Just watched the clubbing of the Yanks (11-4) in the Bronx.

GOOOOOO! SOXXXXXXX!

No connection, however I watched Eric play in the late 80's as a young Sox catching prospect, at Elmira.
Was impressed by his hustle and his desire to learn his craft. I wasn't surprised in the least when he became a MLB manager. Smart, tough scrapper!

I saw him play in Pawtucket myself. He had a good arm, and a decent swing too. Didn't realize he was managing now. Since I'm now living in Yankeeland, baseball hasn't been the priority it once was with me. ;\)

At one time I lived in New Britain, CT, about a half mile from Bee Hive Field where the AA New Britain Red Sox played. Don't think I saw Eric there, which makes me think he jumped a level. However, I did see a number of future ML players there, including Mo Vaughn and John Valentin. The manager was Butch Hobson. I also saw Albert Belle (Joey Belle then) playing for the Canton/Akron Indians and Deon Sanders playing for the Albany Yankees. The SOB stole 2nd and 3rd base within three pitches, and hit a home run too (in a park with a fence that was damned near 450 feet!). I had no idea who he was at the time, but I sure got an education that day!

Posada asked him to break it in for him! Unlike Big Papi, TB's head is more "block" shaped.

How 'bout the babe he's with! Looks like he's really zoned in on what ever she's yapping about!

He looks like he'd rather be dead!

The Sox keep-a-rollin'! The series in Toronto was supreme! Historically, the Sox seem to struggle when playing at Skydome but not this year! Keep goin', guys!

Beckett out-duels Peavy for 11th win. 11 and a half over the 3rd place, sub .500 Yanks! A-Dog looks marvelous, though! \:\/

Taking a trip to Cleveland next week on vacation to see the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I thought also that "Maybe the Indians are in town? If so, I wonder who they're playing?" Turns out they are in town...and playing the Red Sox! I bought myself a bleacher seat. \:\) First time I've bought a ball game ticket online and printed it...

Wedggie, the Jake was excellent! What a great ball park. This is the kind of ball park the Sox need to build to replace Fenway (yes, I know that's sacreligeous, but it needs to be replaced). To me, it appeared to be half the size of Fenway, but it seats 10,000 more! The secret is the grandstand. They are taller and seat more people, whereas in Fenway they go back rather than up and seat far less. My seat was in the bleachers, and it was an excellent seat to watch a game from. The usher explained that we were actually closer to 2nd base than some of the grandstand seats. And not an obstruction in the entire ball park.

You were absolutely right about the fans too. Great fans the Indians have. As it turns out, the Red Sox lost the game 1-0. Wish I had been there the next night though when they won 14-9. My game was a pitcher's duel between Beckett and Carmona, whereas last night was a slugging fest, which I find much more enjoyable.

Two nice surprises I wasn't aware of. Eric Wedge is managing the Indians, and just got a contract extension of three years. And the 1st base coach is Luis Rivera!

Great fans and a great ball park. If I lived in Cleveland, it wouldn't take much for me to become an Indians fan...

Glad ya enjoyed it, my brother!

Tough loss, that 1-0 game. Always hacks me off when they follow it a double-digit barrage the next night!

I feel similar about the Jake being a facimile of what could be possible in Beantown someday. With all that extra seating, maybe us poor shlubs might be able to go to some HOME games instead of traveling to Toronto, Cleveland, Baltimore,etc......!

BTW, that home run that Gutierez hit landed about 20 feet from me in a patio area called "Home Run Alley." I was in the left field bleachers with a great view of the game.

I couldn't help but notice the difference in ticket prices. My bleacher seat was $14.00 had I bought it there at the ticket office instead of online. At Fenway...$23.00. The best seats at the Jake (right behind the plate) are $60.00. At Fenway...$105.00! I'm sure the reason for the difference is the limited seating at Fenway, and as you said...the real fans have a hard time getting a ticket if they have a chance at all. The Sox need to do something about Fenway. What they should do is play somewhere else for a year (maybe a college stadium) and swallow the loss of ticket sales...and rebuild Fenway onsite a la Jacobs field. I really think it would be worth it in the end, and would time time turn a profit for them.

Not much being said in here..hmmmm...gasp..shades of 1978!! This is so much fun to watch....especially the silence from the loudmouths that non red sox fans have had to endure all year are quiet. Memo to red sox nation..objects in mirror are closer than they appear!
