I will be starting the Chantix again in 5 days \:\)

Why 5 days? Why not today? I've actually been out for a few days b/c Lifecare screwed things up. I've gotta get my refill tomorrow. But I'll start right back in!

Last time when I ran out,it was 4days without Chantix,so Rhonda had me start from the begining with 5mil instead of 10mil.She said starting off with the full force would kill my stomach..so I have 3 days left at 5mil then full swing again.

Don't ever give up.. Just keep trying and when you are ready you will know to try again.. Did they tell you that you can also be on the patch and on the chantix too? I am proud of anyone who can fight any addiction whether it be cigarettes or any other drugs.. KUDOS!

I have been hanging tough at a pack every 3-4 days. UGH! I want to get to the point when I say, "I just don't need to smoke anymore." I know that time will come, just not soon enough. And my biggest problem is that I forget a dose now & then when I work overnights...

Honestly, for someone like myself who just plain LIKES to smoke, there was never going to be a time when I could say "I just don't need to smoke anymore". I think for me the addiction is the LEAST difficult part. I like it - I like the act of smoking. "Needing" or "not needing" I don't think is part of the equation because after almost four months I still want one. Not as often, but I still want one on occasion, especially when we are hanging out w/ friends. Luckily we only have one friend who smokes! LOL

Does the craving for a cigarette ever get easier BH? I never had any desire to smoke. Even back in the days when I drank, I didn't feel the need to smoke. Although I can say, I certainly liked to have a few drinks. Now, I have pretty much no desire to even have a beer.

I can't speak for BH but as for me, the cravings lessen but don't go away. I like to smoke as much as I like to eat! The physical act of smoking is enjoyable to me...it's social, it's stress-relieving, it's a way to "break" your day when you need to...but it's bad for you and that's the long and short of it. You can pretend for as long as you want that you'll quit but eventually you have to, or you'll spend your whole life thinking about it and never doing it. For me, seeing my cousin die of cancer was probably what tipped the scales, although I continued to smoke for another six months or so. She had ovarian cancer and she didn't have a choice - I do. I could never forgive myself if I put my family through that again because I didn't have enough willpower to quit smoking. Obviously I am aware I could still get cancer, but I had to do what I could to reduce my risks, and quitting smoking was #1.
