Unfortunately, it's not just kids. There are plenty of adults who don't pick up after themselves either. Even worse are the people who dump personal garbage, tires, furniture and appliances along the back roads throughout the forest. It's always a good idea to have a few garbage bags in the vehicle so you can help out by picking up cans and bottles, but it's also important to take note of "dump" sites and report them to the forest service office, even if you just leave an anonymous message. You can also just mark the spot on a forest map and leave it at the ranger station. They have too few staff and too many acres to cover, so the sooner they know about illegal dumping the sooner they can take care of it. They've actually lucked out on occasion and been able to track down culprits from personal info left among the garbage, so don't move it--just report it. And, by the way, if you see something/someone doing something suspicious report it--if not to the forest service to 911. It's our land after all.

Isn't that a great camping spot? I'll be out there fishing this weekend, so I'll be sure to take a garbage bag with me.

Why does that not surprise me? Chained to a tree and it disappears. Idiots.

So, did you catch any brookies? Believe it or not, with all the fishing I've done, I've never had them!

I couldn't get away from the office yesterday.:( Maybe I can sneak up there some morning this week. It's a good thing that the temps are dropping over the next few days. Brookies don't do well in warm water. You'd like them much better than other trout. They have a milder flavor.

I hope that whomever swiped that picnic table had as much fun carrying it out as I had carrying it in! I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it did. It's the same type of people who cut through the pasture fence to trespass during hunting season because they're too lazy to climb over. Hey, the forest service has tons of money to replace stuff, right?

Give me a call if you do go this week. I generally can make time in the mornings and would love to go! What do you use for bait?

Sure! I just use worms. Some people use corn; others use minnows. They'll bite on just about anything--being accustomed to being fed daily. \:\)

That's funny, there are a bunch in our new pond too--little ones though. I know of another pond to the east that has them as well. Must be that someone has an overabundance of goldfish! ;\)

Haha! Think they have any more they want to get rid of?
I'm not so sure my lily is going to make it though... last year it was halfway out of the water and I tried, but couldn't budge it. Someone set it really well ;\) Now the pond is so full I can't get to it to move it out further in anticipation of summer. (Not that I could move it anyway)

By fall, I'm sure that there will be more available. You could always just cut the pot (when you can get to it) and set the lily free! Your hubby would love it! They're pretty hardy though.

Hahaha! Yeah, we know what he thinks of "our" shenanigans! I hope the lily comes back, I had beautiful blooms last year.

The youth fishing derby was well attended yesterday after my hike drove down potomac road and saw at least 30 cars parked.

The place was packed this weekend, I went for a hike and was jealous that I did not get the chance to camp this weekend.

Just to thank the town of Hector for the good job done on the roads, much better than they were.
