I know football is still going and baseball playoffs are in full run but I cant help but get excited for this year's squad.

Any thoughts out there? Paul Harris real deal, all hype or too soon to tell? Mookie, Roberts, Nichols is this the year they shine consistently or will it be the same old same old? What about Devendorf? Will he be a star or just a punk? Josh Wright has the speed but will he have the control? Matt Gorman????

I have been reading some articles on Harris but have not had a chance to see any video on the kid. I cant help but think he will be a huge asset to the team.

His vidos are all over U-Tube.

Check the Syracuse.com SU Basketball forums for more info on the team this year.

We won't really know anything until the team starts playing but I'll take Harris over McNamara anyday.

Nice article in this week's Sunday Post Standard on Eric Devendorf
putting in extra hours during the off season. Sounds like he's ready to 'shine' on the hardwood this year!!!!!

It will be good to have 3 starting shooters. 4 if you count Roberts.

Now we just have to hit foul shots as well.

I ran into Eric D. at the football game last weekend. I told him a was a "big fan of his" and that I couldn't wait for BB season to start. His reply was "uh, yea". I laughed all the way back to my seat. I still love the kid!

Two things that bother me.

1) He wanted to go NBA this year.

2) He has an awkward jumpshot.

So does not being able to hit shots from the outside( unlike the rest of the SU squad that can consistently) hurt SU or does his other skills make up for this supposedly 1 weakness of his. And assuming his jumpshot improves to where its no longer an issue does he play one and done like melo did breaking up any rythmn found with the rest of the squad.

and he missed..... and he does struggle with his jump-shot.

Sloppy start really does not do it justice. When will the big guys learn to rebound????? They were outrebounded by an undersized(6'-7" tallest player)division II team. AND THEY ALLOWED 86 POINTS!!!!!!

Well Coach B has said over and over if SU did not come out to play right from the start they would eventually get burned when they played a good team. Down 20 points for 3/4 of the game!!!! Then to turn it on with 5 minutes or so left and to only lose by 3????? I really thought they were going to pull it off. The noise level in the dome was awesome....

How about Mr. Nicols BLOWING a wide open breakaway layup that would have given them the lead with about 20 secs left.

Blowing? More like reaching into the jaws of victory and snatching out defeat!!!!!

What about all those missed second and third chance points. Roberts and Mookie both missing tip ins that they should have just dunked.

found this quote on Dickie V's blog. I really do not like the man.

"...Talking about phenoms, I have said it before and I will say it again … if Paul Harris of Syracuse works on his shot, and becomes a more efficient shooter, he will be the total package. He is tough physically and mentally, is aggressive, has the great body and the mentality of a winner. Harris just has to work on his shooting the rock." Dickie Vitale

way to go Captn. Obvious....

any ways the Baylor game was awesome. SU beat them on everything. Points in the paint, points off of turnovers, points on fast breaks they beat them on every thing. It was very satisfing to finally see them all play the way they can.

I like that it seems Jimmy B is proving a point. Mr's. Harris and Devendorf haven't seen the starting lineup or the court in the first 5-10 minutes of the last few games. Wonder what Jimmy is up to?

Even on the rebounds and turnovers, 35 and 11, which was surprising. 90% on free throws and wow! it would have been nice if they had gotten to the line a little more in the second half.

Good win today against Nova. the three seniors played really well. Hopefully they can keep it up. Harris looks like he may be getting pissed due to lack of playing time.

Very good win. Even with Devendorph struggling offensivly the others step it up. Harris is not the boy wonder some people were making him out to be. He is making freshman mistakes and still has much to learn. I do not think he is getting pissed. He seems a smart kid eager to learn and bide his time, at least that is how he comes across in his interviews.

great win...I just wish they had a deeper bench, there's alot of games left and a 7 man rotation could wear them out come tournament time, i mean theres another 6 guys sitting on the bench after the 7 man rotation, get someone to step up and play some minutes...there going to need them some times especially if they sustain an injury or suspension of any sort

wtf? up by 19 in the first half and they barely pull it out?? I'm wondering if they pass out sleeping pills in the locker room and at the concession stands, at half time? They should have blown that team away last night.. wa it jsut me or were there no cheerleaders at the game last night? The crowd seemed even more asleep than normal in the secondf half?.

As much as I enjoyed the first half the defense was not there. Cinncy still scored 34 points. SU kept turning the damn ball over. They got EXTREMLY lucky the second half.

IMO...boeheim is to relaxed with the players, yes they do seem to win for him, but they do get very sloppy in games, and when they come off the floor he just takes in stride, maybe coach knights way of doing things is a little extreme but the kids seem to get the point and don't make the same mistakes constantly. also missing free throws is absurd, but it happens at all levels, i've always been a free throw shooter who uses the backboard to make my free throws, makes it a whole lot easier, making it swish is prettier but making crucial free throws wins games...i'm just babbling i know, ah well enough said

Yes, lucky indeed......

I have 2 points of contention regarding last night:

1. Why is Josh Wright so terrible? He's supposed to be our best ball handler and floor general yet he regularly gets his pocket picked, throws the ball away, leaves his feet with nowhere to go, etc. etc. He was a total liability the entire time he was on the floor in the second half.

2. Why is Paul Harris not playing? Specifically, Nichols hits 2 free throws to pull within 1 point with 30 seconds left and Syracuse is set up in their press. Surely there would be no better player on Syracuse to be out there in the press than Harris.

Perfect point 1 Don. Not sure what is up with Josh Wright. He still scares me with the ball. Notice what happens in crunch time, Devendorf brings the ball up.

I still think Harris did something to get in Jimmy's dog house. There's a reason he's keeping him back.

My main question about this team is what happens to Nichols from time to time? He just disappears offensively at times. Don't get me wrong, I love those 5 minute stretches where even his 30 foot turn around jumpers drop, but dang. He gets into those zones at times, then doesn't seem to do much else in the game. He still plays great D, but goes away on offense.

and Coach, put the pipe down, Roberts is worthless? Roberts is so athletic, he works hard on both ends of the floor, and they will probably only go as far as he can take them in the tournament. He's such an important physical presence on that team.

From what I have read and seen about Harris he tires quickly and makes mistakes. For example he fouled the pitt player while taking a 3. He takes 3s himself when he is not hitting them in practice and is struggling durng practices. Now of course that is coming second hand as I have never been to a practice and I was also told that SU practices are the worst ones run.

I do not think Josh is real terrible its more he is so damn quick he is already moving before he thinks. I am not saying that right am I? I think he is still developing - it is sort of his first time at the helm....

Please tell me Coach B did not say that? Robert brings so much energy to the team as well as defense and rebounding. You must be referring to some one else right?

Why is it that ESPN and Time Warner have such a hard time televising the SU games?????? The freaking channel is black again!

I had gotten through to TW and they said it was a technical problem and that their techs were working on it. Funny - that is the second time it has happen for an SU game.

Syracuse, spanked AGAIN. I have always said JB is a better recruiter than a coach. He didn't coach his way to ONE national championship he recruited Carmelo.

"The fans booed the cheerleaders."

http://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/weblog/

And PLEASE don't give me the Hall of Fame BS!! Most of his wins are from VERY weak teams they play outside the Big East.

"Syracuse’s largest margin of defeat at the Carrier Dome was (and still is) 24 points in an 85-61 loss to Seton Hall in the 1997-98 season. On Tuesday, Notre Dame led by 28 points with 14 minutes left in the game at 75-47."

Not to mention he looks like he is bored at every press conference . Except of course the one he fired the F Bomb!!!

Another disappointing lose at home. I was very disappointed when the fans started booing at half-time.

Oh and here we go again with the crap that Coach B. is a bad coach. people who are dumb enough to make statements like that obviously have no clue about the game. So I guess Coach Calhoun must also be another crappy coach huh?

The Notre Dame loss is not unexpected. They are a very good and ranked team. I didn't expect the Orange to win this one anyway. It would have been nice.

The problem is losses to St John's and Louisville, two games that they should have won especially the Louisville game. They nearly blew the game against Cincinnati. To me this is the game that started the doubt in their minds.

There is a lot of talent on this SU team, but they mentally take themselves out of games. It has been like this for the last couple seasons. Teams put pressure on them and they collapse.

They have some teams coming up that they "should" beat. Let's hope they get it together, because you can bet it's in the back of their minds with the recent collapse in their play.

Drexel is not a bad team, they are 16-5 overall and 8-3 in their conference. Drexel was one point away from upsetting UCLA in the pre-season NIT.There are no easy D1 teams any longer.

I can not say it enough. Any team can beat any team at any time in DIV I basketball. Early outs to the NBA for the "big" schools(lost of talent) vs "small" schools who have players staying all four years(experience0. Coach B has been saying that for several years now but again what does Hall of Fame status, 30+ years in Div I basketball and one of the all time winningest coaches know about the game.

WOW!!! Some very angry folks here!!! I SAID he is a better recruiter than coach. I DID NOT SAY he sucked. He has been successful, but if it wasn't for recruiting Carmello, they would have been out in an early round like they usually are.

This thread has been quiet lately.

I guess everyone has given up on this season. This team is on the bubble right now. Just six games left in the regular season. They could have a regular season with less than 20 wins. Currently 16-8 (5-5 Big east) This team is in trouble.

The only game that is probably a lock to win is the South Florida game.

02-11 St. John's 13-10 (4-6)
02-14 at South Florida 12-11 (3-6)
02-17 Connecticut 15-8 (4-6)
02-24 at Providence 15-7 (5-4)
02-26 Georgetown 16-5 (6-2)
03-03 at Villanova 15-7 (4-5)

They have already lost to St John and Connecticut. They need to win these and that South Florida game.

Those other three will probably all be losses especially the way they are playing. Sure they beat Villanova but the next game is away and Nova is playing much better now. Georgetown is a much better team than people may realize.

The Big East tournment would help them get to the tournment, however Gerry isn't here this year to pull out another miracle at the Garden.

Their current RPI rank is 61 and dropping.

It will be NIT time if they don't turn it around now.

I wonder if all those Gerry bashers from the last few years have figured it out that he really didnt have that much to work with. This years group of seniors is the most underachieving group that i think we have ever seen at Syracuse. Their can be comparisons made to that of Shumperts Senior year, but by all accords this group should do much better than they are. Watkins and Roberts combined for 6 points and 8 rebounds Monday. Jimmy may have overexagerated a little bit, but i think he was spot on when he said "This team wouldnt have won 10 bleeping game without Gerry Mac." I wonder how much longer Thugendorf is going to just throw the ball away. He had 6 TO in the last 2 and a half against Uconn. That is almost one a possesion for the 'Cuse in the last five minutes. While I havent given up on this team, they are frustrating to watch. I live outside of Time Warner country now, and have only seen the games that are national on ESPN.....4 times. I havent seen this team win yet this year. Very frustrating. I have had to resort to One Shining Moment on YouTube. This group needs to pull it together over the next 6 or we are NIT bound.

Coach....

I don't know if I would call them underachieving, I would say they are inconsistant. Not just from game to game but from half to half.

I didn't see the UConn game the other night but have seen most of their games this year.

There are times they play like a street ball team.

Thugendorf.....that is funny.

Three Big East wins in a row gives them life for the Big Dance. I think if they can manage to win two out of three to end the season they are in. That will put them at 10 and 6 in the Big East and most likey a top 6 finish. They already surpassed last years win total in league games. Rautins has been playing well and HArris seems to be coming along. Roberts has regressed again.

I agree red.. It seems this team (and all teams for that matter) play well when they have a legit spot up 3 point shooter like Rautins. Good to see him getting significant minutes and playing well on both ends of the floor. Also, Harris has been making much better decisions and is the strongest freshman I think I have ever seen. He's what, 6-4? Plays like he's 6-10 on the boards and can play like he's 6-2 out front (other than the jumper thing). I agree about Roberts as well. He seems to disappear in games.

Next point, anyone else think Nichols will be a first round draft pick?

Nichols first round pick? Hardly. I would be surprised if he is even drafted.

Yes he is leading the league in points. However you have to look at his whole college career.

Gerry didn't get drafted and his overall stats are above his.

Nichols may get lucky and impress the scouts in the NBA summer league and be a late pick but I doubt it. I see the D-League or europe in his future.

Nichols is one of those guys NBA scouts drool over. He's got the size, shooting ability and defense that they love. I just have a feeling he's going to get some run. I see his stock as being higher than Warrick. Just a hunch though.

I think Nichols will be drafted. 6'9'' and can shoot from distance. Very good athlete. G-Mac may had a much better college career but Nichols is a much better pro prospect. G-Mac is not real athletic, not very tall and not a great pure shooter. He was a very good shooter but not great. He took a lot of shots. I believe Nichols is shooting a higher percentage from the 3 pt line this year than gerry did last year and can rebound and defend better.

2007 Mock draft

Interesting, they have Nichols as the 33rd pick, that is early 2nd round. Watkins is the last pick at 60.

12 underclassman in the top 15.

Nichols overview

Pay attention to his weekness, especially this last part.

Quote:
Will need to work on his shooting mechanics, right now he takes too long to release his shot … When catching a pass, Nichols will gather his feet and bring the ball from below his waist and then shoot. This delay allows the defense to recover so improving on this would be a bit benefit … Despite being bigger than most of his opponents, Nichols has little to no post up game … His passing ability is average due to his lack of court vision …

I like the guy, but I don't think he is a 1st rounder

Yup, I checked that site out, I think they are right on with his weaknesses. The good thing about his weaknesses are some of them can be fixed. I don't want to sound like a homer, but I watch him and wonder why he isn't the stud he could be all the time. Oh well, see what happens on the 24th, got a while before the next game. Should be able to win 2 out of 3 and that will probably be enough to get them an NCAA bid.

Monday is a big game. Too bad Georgetown will take this one.

I mentioned it to some friends last season, who also follow S.U., regarding Georgetown and I felt they were going to be one of the top three in the Big East this season. One of them agreed.

They are playing up to what I said.

Sure I'm an Orange fan, but I just don't see them pulling this one out. This will probably be a low scoring game, say 63-59.

The Nova game next weekend will be close but I think SU wins that one.

That is probably the best defensive game SU has played all season.

How do you guys feel about the fans (mostly students)
storming the court at the end of the game ?
A few media 'talking heads' feel SU fans
embarrassed themselves last night.

I thought it was a tad bush, but it was senior night, so I guess they can have their moment. They did it a few years ago when they beat UConn, I think it was senior night as well.

I think what was more embarrasing is the actions of Doofendorf. I wish he would shut up sometimes and just play ball. He's got the ability to be a very nice player, but he kills it with his over the top idiocy. He really overshadowed a nice win with his celebration at the end of the game.

Embarrassed for storming the court????? Hmmm Disappointing season, talk of SU not going to the big dance, bashing the seniors, SU bashing in general, 10th ranked G-Town Hoyas in the Dome with a Thompson at the helm and a Ewing on the court, Hoyas on an 11 game conference winning streak and you just spanked them???? Damn straight you storm that court! If for anything else to apologize for booing the boys 4 weeks ago....

I like Mr Devendorph. Is he a thug? Yep. Is he gonna bite off more then he can chew one of these days? Possible. Could he show a little more class? Definetly. I still like the kid though....

I did not care for the new uniforms. Too vanilla. Not sure what the colors on the sides of the shorts was all about. As to the dance despite what Digger Phelps keeps trying to spew they are in , maybe only a 9-12 seed, but they are in. This team could have fell apart 3 weeks ago. Instead they got hot at just the right time.

Those new white uni's suck! They should have "Syracuse" on them not "Orange".. I wonder how much $$ the University is getting to wear those ugly things. I hope they didnt pay for them. They best beat ND today to complelety ensure a spot in the dance imo.

They are in the tourney. They were pretty secure after they beat Gtown, regardless of what any of the analyst say. Their is no way they are not in.

You are right coach they are in.

The thing for them now is to try an impress the selection committee . A couple of wins in NY would help them as far as seeding.

Right now they are a 12th or maybe 11th seed.

Get to the Big East championship game and they should move up to 8 or 9.

Win it and they could be a 7th seed.

They won it last year, in worse shape then they are this year and were a 5, if they win it this year, they should be a 5 again.

It's a moot point now that they lost today.

If they did win coach, I don't think they would have been that high a seed.

This may be one of the deepest NCAA fields we have seen in years.

Ok, I have had a few hours to think about it. Regardless of if the committee was right or wrong, doesn't this sum up this senior class perfectly? Don't get me wrong, they've been good players. But they came to SU with a ton of hype and other than the Big East championships they haven't done much.
I'm still ticked though.

Seeing Duke get in and to be a 6 seed to boot I've lost all confidence in the selection process. Cuse is a better team than Duke. Syracuse played well late in the season and knocking off Georgetown should have proved to the selection comittee this team deserved to go to the tourney. I think they just raised the bar. The 20 win seasons are no longer a lock.

I have had a while to let this marinate, and im still amazed. How do teams like Illiois, Purdue, and Arkansas get in? Syracuse was not even mentioned on the bubble. Even scum bag Gottleib had them in the tourney. I don't even want to fill out a bracket. Jello, i guess you were right....i don't know how you were right, but you were right. The funny thing is, that it looks like the NIT was'nt expecting the Orange either. They are a two seed in the south. Not a One seed. It seems as though they have taken Arkansas place in the NIT. So flipping pissed still.

BONED!!! I'm not even filling out a bracket for the first time in many years. WTF was this committee looking at? I agree with Tech guy. If Duke got a #6 seed then so should Syracuse...identical records! I didn't realize the PAC 10 was the most dominating conference in the country. Stanford made it with an 18-12 record, so it has to be! Screw the tournament and the morons that selected the field!

Not to make light as I am very disappointed but if they had played better, which they were capable of, all year then it wouldnt have come down to picking and choosing teams based on criteria other then basketball skills.

Dont get me wrong, I am floored about the team not being in the dance, I'm not a JB basher either, but you have to wonder about the early games against teams like St. Francis and Penn, Northeastern, Canisus, Holy Cross. Could those games be considered the "weak" opponents that didnt give the 'cuse the votes?? I cant believe the scummy Duke team got in, they've sucked the last few weeks, Villanova a 9th seed? WTF? Arkansas at 21-13? Miami OH at 18-14 WHAT? puhlease! grrrrr

ok forget I mentioned Holy Cross .. at 25-8 and a number 13 seed.

They need to get rid of all the automatic bids for small conference schools that just go out and get crushed in the first game. Can you imagine being a # 1 seed and having to play Syracuse as a # 16 seed? Would make the tournament much more interesting and competitive.

All the major colleges play schedules comparative to Syracuse. Duke did not play a road game out of conference. They also have an ACC/Big Ten Challenge. You do not get to play in a preseason tourney every year. Cuse does play in one though because of Coaches vs. Cancer. I am very disappointed in the whole process right now. I would feel somewhat good about this if everyone including Gottleib had said they were on the bubble. The fact that it came as a complete shock to everyone. Bilas was on Mike and Mike this morning still very angry that Cuse did not get in, saying that it was Ludicrus. So fricking frustrated.

Not to bash those of you that a posting here. Like you I am disappointed the Orange did not make it. However some of the teams mentioned, especially those above earned the right to be there. I don't think some of you realize that some of them won their conference tourney's and received automatic bids. Miami, OH, Holy Cross and Penn being just a few of them. You have to remember there are actually only 34 at large teams.

Now that is the problem with SU not getting in. They beat some of these teams along with some big conference wins.

Villanova had the big wins, stength of schedule and the non-confrence wins.

The two teams I have a problem with are Stanford and Arkansas. They don't belong in the tourney. Especially the Razorbacks, their only get there because they make their conference final against Florida. They had only three key regular season wins. These are the teams that should be going to the NIT , not SU

As far as Duke, I do hate them and the seed is too high. They should be no higher than a 9 or 10 seed.

Florida State deserved to get in for that matter.

some quotes:
"There's no way I can figure this out and understand this," said Jim Boeheim, the glum Syracuse coach who spoke for the SU legions whose March has suddenly lost an awful lot of its zest. "If I think about it from now for the next 10 years, I'll never understand how we're not in."
The arithmetic of the matter does seem to support Boeheim. Nineteen of the 65 clubs in the pool have more losses than SU's 10, and 17 of those 65 outfits have fewer wins than the Orange's 22. Meanwhile, there are a lot of them that aren't 5-5 against the tournament field . . . and aren't 7-3 in their last 10 games . . . and haven't knocked off a No. 2 seed (Georgetown) by two touchdowns in the last 14 days.
So, Boeheim was properly upset on Sunday. And somewhere Joe Jacobs understood.
"I would imagine that we're one of the few, if not the only team ever in a BCS conference with a 10-win (in-league) season that did not get in the NCAA Tournament," Boeheim said. "I have no way of knowing why we're not in the tournament. It's beyond me.
"I don't agree with all the experts. But every single one of them had us in the Tournament. Every single one. No one of all the people who prognosticate these things had Syracuse out of the Tournament. Not one."

Eleven of SU's 32 foes did have losing records. The Orange did get bumped off by middling non-Tournament collections such as St. John's (16-15), Wichita State (17-14), Connecticut (17-14), Oklahoma State (22-12) and Drexel (23-8). Syracuse's 22 triumphs did come against competition with a combined winning percentage of just .522 (353-323). The Orange did begin the campaign playing fully 15 contests before venturing out of the state, and on only 12 occasions all season did it suit up beyond the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome."

sigh........

I've been chomping at the bit all day long to get home to post almost an identical response. I agree with this whole heartedly. This tournament should be about the BEST teams in the country. In most cases your 13-16 seeds from the lesser conferences get blown out every year, essentially giving the higher seeds that play them a bye. Granted the cream has to eventually rise to the top but this is no test for them.

I just saw JB on PTI and he was plugging again for an expansion of the field. I'm not so sure I like that idea as much as I do placing the BEST teams in the country in this tourney. I think this tournament would be much more interesting.

I will say it again...Wichita State, Oklahoma St, Holy Cross, Penn and a few others were tough teams to play. Just because they do not come from "power" conferences does not make them bad. Syracuse should have played more consistent and not put themselves in a posisiton of flipping a coin.

Absolutely. Jimmy B. will just have to try harder next year. He acts as if SU deserved a spot soley because they are SU. It's a shame, but stuff happens.

you're right, under the current system had Syracuse played a little better and squeaked out another win they probably would be in. But realistically speaking, do teams such as Texas A&M C.C., Miami (OH), Winthrop, Davidson, Jackson St., Florida A&M/Niagara, Wright St.(Wright St.?? c'mon), Weber St., Eastern Kentucky, Oral Roberts, Belmont, Central Conn. St., Long Beach St., Albany, North Texas, Pennsylvania, among a few others, have even an outside chance of winning this tournament? Hell no. Does Syracuse? Hell yes. Not very likely, but a heck of a lot more likely then the teams I just mentioned. This is the point I'm trying to make. The top 64 teams in the country are not playing in this tournament.

The Zags, George Mason, St Joseph... were not all these teams once considered unlikely tourny teams??? Wasnt it Albany who gave UConn a big scare not too long ago? And what team did Pitt almost lose to this year? Buffalo??? What was the team that SU lost in the first round to two years ago, Vermont?

I would like to see the NIT champ play the NCAA champ. One crack for all the marbles. It might add a little meaning to the "other" tournament.

I tried to purchase 3 tix last night online but it errored out on me. They're only available at the box office. Right now it looks as though there are just seats available on the opposite end of the student section 114-115 I think. I'm holding out until tomorrow. We're thinking they may sell out the 1st section and will open the second section for sales, this way I might be able to get mid-court seats in the second section. I'm only a couple of blocks away so I got my running shoes on just in case If not, end seats will have to do.

I ended up with end seats in the student section. That is where I use to have seats before it became the student section. Oh well.

The boys did not seem very motivated to play. Eric was a scoring machine but he even lacked his usual swagger....

I kept expecting Roberts to thump his chest and get jacked up..with the not in our house attitude.. they got lucky, whoever put that invisible cover over the other basket did them a huge favor , and kudos to the crowd.

Got to love Scumleib, on College Game night last night, they were showing Cuse Highlight, and they got to Harris Dunk, Scumleib says" How did that not make gym gems, oh yeah this is the NIT"....what a freaking scum.

I have to say, the joint was jumpin for sure. What a crowd, what a game and it was nice to be part of history, but I still prefer my front row seats in front of my 61" screen and free parking!!

I was able to snag a seat in Sec 109 Row M amd my son was in Sec 124 Row G. Probably the closest we'll ever be again for a lot of years to come. It was awesome.

I didn't think they sold seats in that section for hoops games. Man I'm looking at the seating chart and you were a country mile out. My dad also went and he was sititng in SEC 310 right at mid court and I ended up eating a ticket in the seat next to him. I could have sold it on the way in but the guy was only going to give me $2, plus I didn't want that shady character sitting next to my dad, lol.

Guys, what's the secret for parking around there? I got there an hour before the game and still had to go up to Skytop and catch a shuttle. Then they wouldn't let me back down to Comstock afterwards and I had to take 481N to the thruway 4 exits east of my normal 690 exit. No traffic but it was way out of my way. I didn't get home until 11pm.

Any predictions on tonight's matchup with Clemson? They have their work cut out for them that's for sure.

Some interesting game notes:

Clemson and Syracuse have not played since the season opener of the 1960-61 season. Clemson won that game in Kent, OH by a 78-67 score behind 23 points from Choppy Patterson and 19 points and 19 rebounds by Tommy Mahaffey - remember those guys?? NOT

Clemson is 9-20 all time against teams currently in the Big East

Clemson has held the opposition to 7 of 32 shooting on three-point shots in their two NIT games

Syracuse is shooting 37% on the season behind the arc

It was a barn burner alright - the last 3 minutes anyway. Cuse looked like crap the first 30 mins. Nothing was going their way, not to mention everything was falling for Clemson and they were getting an awful lot of the bounces. Would have liked to see them advance. Oh well.

Doing what Josh always does. Not understanding where the play is. Nicholas was to his right and asking for the ball. As usual Josh doesn't see the open man, doesn't look at the clock. He panicked.

To be honest with you, I don't think Rautins took a shot that I could remember. I thouoght for sure they were going to feed him for the last shot. I was under the impression that's what he was brought in for at the end. Why WAS he sitting on the bench almost the whole second half anyways?
