Ok I lied, I had to do it before I could go to sleep or it would haunt me. To straighten out Zone Alarm Double click the ZA icon near your clock in the taskbar. Then click on the word firewall/ ant the bottom of that window you will see ADD click that then click Host\site /you will then get a text box up that has a few fields The Zone should say trusted /the next one down is Host name type forums.fingerlakes1.com in that box/ The next box is description just type FL1 in that box. You then can click lookup and the FL1 IP will appear. Then click OK/ Then click apply. Then you are up and running.

Thanks Doc, that helped!!

For my ZONE ALARM ver 4.5.538, I also had to go to PRIVACY, SITE LIST, right click next to FL1 for MOBILE CODE, OPTIONS, and UNcheck REMOVE PRIVATE HEADER INFORMATION. Now I can post without shutting ZA down!

what's a zone alarm?

JF
Zone Alarm is a shareware <free > firewall. keeps bad people off your computer. its pretty good. i really like it.

it blocks hackers from getting on your pc , closes open ports .makes you invisilble to ping requests. it also displays inbound and outbound traffic. and you have to give permission for programs on your pc to access the internet < very handy>
to stop and help diagnose trojan horses.

The directions for Mcafee firewall/Security center are simple....If you are having problems you are running older then v5.0 you dont deserve to post and risk infecting us all. Mcafee does not have the user privacy feature that the other companies have therefore the feature that blocks is not part of the program.

You mean it doesn't load with the rest of your programs when you turn your computer on?

Nevermind. Even if you put it in English its still Greek to me. All I know about computers is how to find a husband online. Met two of the cheaters that way and I think i've learned my lesson maybe lol
