I am searching for my birthmother whom I do not have a name, but I do have a significant amount of information about her. I was put up for adoption through Seneca County Department of Social Services in 1981... but I was born in Geneva General Hospital... I'm pretty confident my birthmother was from the Seneca Falls/Waterloo area... Please if anyone lived in the area around that time, and might have known a young woman (19 as of my birthdate 04/24/1981, but turned 20 later that year)... please contact me...

Marie, start posting in Reunion sites for the adoptees and BirthMoms. My mother had read my posts in those sites and she knew I was searching.
Reunions however fraught with strong feelings, can be healing, and bring positive help to everyone if you're careful to respect her feelings.
Good luck.

i agree with E. Mouise. My MIL was just found by the daughter she gave up for adoption about 23 or 24 years ago (and my MIL had been searching for her for years).

my mother is also adopted and hoping to get teh case file opened - due to health issues (and she is over 50 - no doubt the original parents have now since died?)

i wish you much luck in your search

don't give up hope on her parents being alive or not, Thena. Had my mother's health been better yes, I can promise you I would have tossed everything I owned to the curb to meet her and say thank you.
She did the very best that she could do in a horrible time(postwar Germany) and I will always respect that.

Never give up hope... You never know... maybe the unfortunate has happened, but there might be family, siblings, out there looking for you... That would be awesome! I believe I will find my mother someday... My siblings might be too young for me to search for, but I believe I will meet them some day too!

From what I've been told, nope I was the only child...now on my birth father? I don't know....I feel strongly here he could have made a difference, he chose not to; and I'm not opening that pandora's box. I doubt they would welcome me.

I'm sorry for that... I don't think I am going to try to look for my father either... He denied I was his child but continued with signing the papers and giving non identifying info about him and his family... If that is how he felt then, I don't think I really need him.

I agree...when the guy basically just tosses the baby aside (as so many do) it isn't a surprise that few of us really care to look for any info on him.
My birthmom's friend confirmed what the adoption papers said, I suppose I could....but why? I would rather not put up with that stress. No point to it at all.

I found my father when I was 26. He turned out to be someone I just could not bring myself to like, partially for reasons similar to yours... But I'm glad I met him, because now I know; case closed. I'm the kind of person who would have been nagged by the question if I hadn't settled it, but not everyone needs that kind of closure.

My birth mother was a very uncomfortable part of my life with my adoptive family all along, poor tortured thing. She and I finally got things worked out, a couple of years before she died.

Time heals.

Yes, it does Abu. Sadly the messed up side of my adoption were the adoptive parents. They were truely needing psychiatric help all the years I knew them. Never happened.
Sad that back then even the screening didn't catch that, but I survived.

Gert, go to adoption reunion sites and register in there. IF the child knows he's adopted he maybe will be curious enough to register also, and with sufficient information on both sides a reunion might be possible.
Bear in mind, there's many factors that can affect reunions so move carefully and slowly so all parties can be calm.

I guess my adoptive parents were alright. At the age of 27 I am just now starting to have a relationship with them. I was treated as the black sheep, however I dont think there was anything that I could possibly ask for or need.

maybe marie you have been so worried about your birthmom that you were afraid to love your adoptive parents... for reasons unknown ....your adoptive parents loved you or they would have never raised you .. it isnt easy to raise a child they have sacificed alot for you ....good luck in finding your birthmom ...
