The most important part of Soleimani's killing, isn't his killing (as big as that is), it is the deep US intelligence penetration around Iran's most important military leader that it revealed. Signals and human intel. This is going to spook the Iranian camp the longest.
Clearly not expedient, just convenient for his sick and demented conduct of hastily carrying out his actions and suffering the consequences later. In the not to distance future, he'll return to his original assessment of doubting and calling the intelligence a bunch of wackos. A little bit of dajavue that a Republican president hastily got us into war but never considering the cost overall.
