How much do you want to bet that the trucks going to the galvanizing plant will enter and exit through the Hamlet of Romulus, despite the promise that they will be directed to 96A.

my memory doesn't need to be refreshed, I've known about the galvanizing plant way before he bought the property. When the incinerator battle was still going on it distracted the public eye, and it slipped right by your all seeing eye.

My comment was that the PUBLIC was not told, but I guess insiders might have known.

Are you saying that the bid proposal is wrong? Martin told the IDA that these are the proposed uses. And the IDA said they were approving it to promote tourism:

1. Future white deer tours headquarters.
2. Future restaurant to provide meals for all Seneca Dairy personnel.
3. Future access to a campsite on the depot which will include bunker cabins.
4. Future playground for campers from Deer Haven Campsites along with potential access for Sampson campers and possibly the public.
5. Access to our future planned Mini Golf site.
6. Site of our future museum featuring a timeline of the region pre depot until today.
7. Temporary office space for our companies as they grow.

OK, I have been waiting 4 days to be proved wrong. So I guess the documents I got from the IDA are correct and Earl isn't "flipping" the property?

They voted to ask the Governor to disapprove the Hillside sale.

The Hillside project is on the IDA agenda tomorrow for a proposal of granting a property tax exemption of $97,000.

From my reading of the application and the cost benefit analysis

There will be NO JOBS created in the foreseeable future

Deer Haven Park will invest $45,000

There will be a benefit to the State and Region of $27,000.

The IDA is proposing to exempt Deer Haven Park on $97,000 in taxes in return.

There is a further description of the plans, but that seems to be wishful thinking, at least to me, with no explanation of where the money is coming, very few jobs created and a timetable of "in the next 10 years."

If the IDA approves the inducement on 11/5, there will be a public hearing, (not that they actually have to listen.)

The questions raised and criticisms of the process are valid and legitimate. That said, the Hillside Campus is a serious financial burden to the IDA and something needs to be done sooner rather than later to move the site on to the path of redevelopment. A national search wasn't likely to being a developer to the site.

Heard they're putting in migrant housing there. Did the IDA consider what, if any, impact that will have on social services and other county agencies?

But a local search (as far as Rochester), during a pandemic, was absolutely guaranteed NOT to find a developer. I think it was designed to "find" Earl Martin.

Actually this was confirmed at the BOS meeting tonight. There is a former dormitory at Hillside that, of a sudden has lights on all night. When asked about it, the IDA Director confirmed that Earl had applied to the IDA to use the building to lease to a contractor for migrant housing. Of course, they never checked to see if the use was allowed under the new Varick Zoning Code (it doesn't seem to be.)

Much shock and surprise among the BOS.

Guess they planned to "share" when it was a done deal and approved by County Health and State Labor and Homeland Security.

Hillsides water initially came from Post 1 Romulus. The water had such a long distance to travel from Post 1 to the back side of the base, that the water sat in the pipes. The aging water system of the base contributed to the bad taste requiring Hillside to have drinking water trucked in. The same with the state police substation/fire training area. The water was not drinkable so water coolers were put into place.
The buildings at the time Hillside was in business, were in tough shape. The buildings were renovated to some extent to accommodate Hillside but many of the buildings were not used and were in bad disrepair.
