The president lashed out at George Papadopoulos on Tuesday, after court records revealed that the former campaign aide pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI – indicating that he is cooperating with Mueller’s investigation.

President Donald Trump said he dropped Paul Manafort as his campaign chairman because of Manafort's involvement with "certain nations," according to excerpts of an interview published Saturday.

"Well, it was a friend of mine who was a businessman -- a very successful businessman and a good person, and you know, Paul was not there very long," Trump said on Sharyl Attkisson's syndicated show "Full Measure," which will air in full on Sunday.
He continued: "Well, I think we found out something about he may be involved with all -- with certain nations, and I don't even know exactly what it was in particular. But there was a point at which we just felt Paul would be better off -- because we don't want to have many potential conflicts."

The President also said he doesn't currently plan to fire special counselor Robert Mueller.

"Well, I hope he's treating everything fairly, and if he is, I'm going to be very happy, because when you talk about innocent, I am truly not involved in any collusion with Russia," Trump said. "Believe me, that's the last thing I can think of to be involved in."

Trump’s approval rating is far lower than any president in 7 decades of polling

A majority of Americans say President Trump has not accomplished much during his first nine months in office, and they have delivered a report card that is far harsher even than the tepid expectations they set for his tenure when he was sworn into office, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News survey.

Fewer than 4 in 10 Americans — 37 percent — say they approve of the way Trump is handling his job. His disapproval rating has reached 59 percent, with 50 percent saying they strongly disapprove of the job he is doing. Although the ratings have changed little in the past four months, both represent the worst marks of his presidency.

Enough Evidence to Bring Charges in Flynn Investigation

evidence to charge Michael Flynn, U.S. President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, and his son, NBC News reported on Sunday, citing multiple sources familiar with the investigation.

NBC News said Mueller’s team is looking at possible money laundering charges, lying to federal agents, and Flynn’s role in a possible plan to remove an opponent of the Turkish president from the United States in exchange for millions of dollars.

Mueller is increasing pressure on Flynn following his indictment of Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, NBC News said.

Flynn served 24 days as Trump’s national security adviser but was fired after it was discovered he had misrepresented his contacts with a Russian diplomat to Vice President Michael Pence.

The NBC report said that lawyers for Flynn and his son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked with his father, declined to comment as did Mueller’s office.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross shares business interests with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s son-in-law, a connection that he failed to disclose earlier this year during his confirmation hearing for his Cabinet post, NBC News reports.

Ross’ link to Putin appears in the Paradise Papers, a leaked trove of millions of financial documents made public on Sunday by a partnership of media organizations and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

Ross, a billionaire industrialist and a close friend of President Donald Trump, continues to hold a stake in a Russian shipping firm controlled by a Russian oligarch, Putin’s son-in-law, and other members of Putin’s inner circle, according to the documents.

Daniel Fried, an assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs under President George W. Bush, told the Guardian that Ross’ ties to Putin’s “cronies” could undermine U.S. sanctions on Russia.

In January, ahead of his confirmation, Ross agreed to sell some but not all of his global assets that posed a conflict of interest to his future position. He also agreed, as required by law, to recuse himself from matters in which he would have a direct financial interest.

Ross’ spokesman told The Guardian that his stake in the Russian firm would not conflict with his duties as commerce secretary and that Ross “recuses himself from any matters focused on transoceanic shipping vessels.”

Ross is only the latest high-ranking member of the Trump administration who failed to disclose ties to Russia or Russian officials.

Flynn's son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked closely with his father, accompanied him during the campaign and briefly worked on the presidential transition, could be indicted separately or at the same time as his father, according to three sources familiar with the investigation.

If the elder Flynn is willing to cooperate with investigators in order to help his son, two of the sources said, it could also change his own fate, potentially limiting any legal consequences.

The pressure on Flynn is the latest signal that Mueller is moving at a rapid and steady pace in his investigation
