Kevin Brown for Jeff Weaver...That trade keeps looking worse and worse. Interesting how no other team was interested in Brown last year during the offseason. Everyone knew the truth about this vagabond except the Yankees.

This team better learn that youth and young players is not a curse.

Rumblings from Mt. Steinbrenner

Quote:

``Enough is enough. I am bitterly disappointed as I'm sure all Yankee fans are by the lack of performance by our team,'' Steinbrenner said in a statement issued immediately after the game.

``It is unbelievable to me that the highest-paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk. They are not playing like true Yankees. They have the talent to win and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around.''

Money doesn't buy happiness. It's a game, each and every night and if your group doesn't have any youthful exhuberence then they become mundane...just like you George.

I see them staying under .500 for a while and coaching heads roll. Mel first (c'mon Mel it's your fault that the 30 something pitching staff doesn't stay healthy) and then when Torre says if he goes I go, Joe goes. I give it a month and then George hires a puppet like the old days.

Where's Sparky Lyle when you need him. I'm really disappointed in what they've let this team become... OLD AND TIRED.

This team, so far, is definitely frustrating the loyal fan.
However, one is to be reminded:
The baseball season is not over until the Jets have 4 games under their belt !

------------------------

^^ Jets 2nd round, 47th pick ~~ Kicker - Mike Nugent !!!! ^^

but ....

all aspects of this team sticks right now. Everyone's feeding negatively off the other. HELP, where is the positive going to come from ? We need ONE BIG PLAY, one BIG motivating FACTOR to get them all going.

Last year it was a Sierra homerun, who's it going to be this season? A superior Randy Johnson outing ???

P.S. For Boston, it was a right hook to the ... well, you know what sparked them !

You yankee fans crack me up. Your team is exactly where they were this time last year. Didn't they win their division?

It's friggin' April.

If you guys tank THIS year, what's going to be the cryin' jag you'll be singing?

My prediction is that your $100M rotation is going to blow up, the bullpen will wear out and MO will have forgotten how to even spell SAVE.

Jeter and Matsui are your only steady bats that hit when it counts (Re: a-Rod). First base is a joke and Shef can't live a charmed life forever.

Face it. George has been spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave the past five years and still no rings! Develope your young talent and give 'em a chance. The new kid from Columbus hit the ball pretty good yesterday.

Maybe Joe won't try to outsmart himself and let this kid get more playing time at 1st.

....it's still April....

Good game for A-Rod last night, one he'll long remember! But, we do need him and the team to be more consistent !

I think Andy Phillips brings the youthful exuberance to the team you're looking for, Eddie, as did/does Chien-Ming Wang in yesterdays game. He pitched seven strong innings, allowing only two runs on six hits with two walks. I really liked his coool demeanor !

The problem is, the only reason these "kids" are playing is because of Veteran injuries. In a sense, they are proving themselves; so, what happens when Sierra & Wright get off the DL ???

I can't believe they brought Sierra back. The only reason he should see any time at this point is to give someone a day off occasionally and pinch hitting. I am thinking maybe 75-100 ab's this year. That's it. How can they invest in him?

Ok.. here it is.. George's solution to happiness.
People to trade (only if you can get young talent in return!):
Mussina
Brown
Williams (sorry Bernie, but it's over, but you were classy all the way)

People to Trump (fire, release, get rid off.. whatever!)
Giambi
Stanton
Sierra
Brown (if you can't trade him)

Let Phillips play first, with Tino being the back up. Put Bubba in Center and call up some guys to fill vacant roster spots.
You can't continue to play with the remnants of the 1998 all star team. They are old now. (even though they are all still pretty much younger than me...)

Let the adventure begin (continue):

Cano is being brought up to play 2nd (gettin' younger), Hideki is moving to CF, and Womack to LF. , while Bernie 'rests' on the bench.
