A new analysis of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report found that Donald Trump and his team told a staggering number of lies to investigators and the public.

CNN found that the Trump team was caught in 77 lies by the Mueller report — and those lies took many different forms and had a number of disparate outcomes.

“Some of the lies that CNN found Mueller prosecuted as crimes — like in the court cases against Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, who admitted to lying to the FBI, and Michael Cohen, his former lawyer and fixer who admitted to lying to Congress,” the report noted.

Many of them did not, however, lead to court cases “since they were told by the President or his communications staff to the American public, at press conferences, in interviews and in official statements.”

Trump club workers forced to do unpaid ‘side work’ — and a current White House aide is implicated: report

The Washington Post reported that workers at the Trump National Golf Club Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, New York were instructed to clock out but stay on and work until their tasks were complete.

“It was that way with all the managers: Many of them told us, ‘Just clock out and then stay and do the side work,’ ”Jose Gabriel Juarez, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who worked at the country club for a decade before leaving last year, said. “There was a lot of side work.”

Juarez was one of six former Trump workers who told the Post they were “cheated” out of the same promotions, vacation and health insurance packages as their legal counterparts. He was also one of two who claimed they were told to do the unpaid “side work,” with another two ex-employees who “said managers made them work 60-hour weeks without paying them overtime.”

Constitutional law expert Laurence Tribe says it is a “new ballgame” for Congressional oversight after the bombshell report that special counsel Robert Mueller wrote a letter to Attorney General Bill Barr complaining about the public summary of his investigation.

“The summary letter the Department sent to Congress and released to the public late in the afternoon of March 24 did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions,” Mueller told Barr. “There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation. This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations.”

Tribe, who has taught at Harvard Law for half a century and argued three-dozen cases before the Supreme Court, offered his analysis on Twitter.

“Mueller says AG Barr misrepresented the ‘context, nature & substance’ of his probe. What else is there? Barr is a total disgrace and a phony,” Tribe wrote.

He had advice for Barr.

“He must now testify under Rep. Jerry Nadler’s rules, then resign,” Tribe said.

What we should care about is that he is still in charge of @TheJusticeDept. Bill Barr should resign and then apply to be the next White House press secretary, where he can lie all he wants.

I note with interest AG Barr’s 4/10 Senate testimony. “Q: Did Bob Mueller support your conclusion? A: I don’t know whether Bob Mueller supported my conclusion.” Now it appears that Mueller objected in this 3/27 letter.

Bill is right. The whole point of the Special Counsel regulations was to provide the public with confidence about an independent investigation, and to force sunlight if the AG tried to interfere. We know the latter has happened. There is only one branch of govt now that can act.
