Imagine how the @GOP would be screaming if Kim Jong-un ran circles around Hillary like he’s currently running circles around Trump. Or imagine how the GOP would be screaming if Hillary were Putin’s errand girl like Trump is currently Putin’s errand boy.

Just imagine.

The only reason Trump wants to win the election is to keep himself and his family out of jail. I think he misses his old life and hates this job. He doesnt care about this country or his knuckle dagging base (who he has nothing in common with). But he doesn't want to go to prison

People know how much I loathe Donald Trump. But this pathological sociopathic liar calling Cong. Adam Schiff a Con Man is the height of malignant narcissistic projection. Adam is a decent honest straight shooter. Trump is a soulless snake oil salesmen. That’s the truth.

REPUBLICANS SAY TRUMP JUST KIDDING ABOUT SEIZING ABSOLUTE POWER

The G.O.P. says Trump is exercising his “dry sense of humor” when he says he wants two extra years. But what if he’s serious?

The long national nightmare that is Donald Trump’s presidency will be over in January 2025 at the very latest—or so tradition would have us believe. But what if that isn’t the case? What if Trump doesn’t accept the results of the 2020 election? What if he refuses to leave?

That’s the alarm some Democrats have begun to sound amid tweets from the president in which he appeared to suggest he’s owed more time in office because he was hamstrung by the Russia probe for the first half of his term. “They have stolen two years of my (our) Presidency (Collusion Delusion) that we will never be able to get back,” Trump tweeted Sunday, after retweeting a message from Jerry Falwell Jr. in which the false prophet made a semi-joking call for “reparations” for Robert Mueller’s investigation.

The White House and Trump’s allies on Capitol Hill insisted the president was kidding. “The president has a sort of dry sense of humor,” Republican John Cornyn told The Washington Post, in what must surely have been an example of Cornyn’s own dry sense of humor. But Democrats weren’t laughing. “When you look at people who have used authoritarian practices that have brought down democracies, they have used excuses to stay in power,” Senator Ben Cardin told the Post.

“It may be in jest, but you still don’t do that in jest.” The so-called joke fueled concerns that the president would not accept the results of the upcoming 2020 election, as outlined by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an interview with The New York Times on Saturday. “He would poison the public mind,” she said of Trump, had Democratic victories in 2018 been by a narrower margin. “He would challenge each of the races; he would say you can’t seat these people . . . So, as we go forward, we have to have the same approach.”

Trump’s allies, though, have expressed outrage at Pelosi’s suggestion, accusing Democrats of fear-mongering and refusing to accept election results themselves. Kellyanne Conway called Pelosi’s remarks “tone-deaf and ironic.” “They’re trying to suggest he’s some kind of monster,” Rudy Giuliani told the Hill. “They should stop.”

Of course, Democratic fears aren’t completely unfounded. Trump has shattered political norms at every turn, and suggested in 2016—when he was widely believed to be headed for defeat at the hands of Hillary Clinton—that he might not accept the results of that election. “I’ll keep you in suspense,” he said in response to a debate question as to whether he’d acknowledge his loss if Clinton won. Of course, Trump did win, yet he’s still contested the results, frequently complaining that supposed voter fraud kept him from winning the popular vote. Given his disregard for political norms, and the fact that his most controversial proposals often begin as insinuation, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he at least sees some truth to Falwell’s pitch.

On the other hand, the notion that Trump would seek to extend his term is likely extreme, in no small part because he appears too incompetent to go full authoritarian. Still, there’s real danger to Trump sowing doubt about the legitimacy of elections, even if he willingly returns to his life as a reality TV bozo and unsuccessful steak salesman. Trump has already lent legitimacy to myriad conspiracy theories. His repeated claims of victimhood have led to violent threats, including the attempted bombings by MAGA fanatic Cesar Sayoc last fall of dozens of Democratic figureheads. It’s easy to imagine baseless claims about the legitimacy of the 2020 election riling up his most unhinged supporters.

Moreover, though Trump is unlikely to make good on any threat to extend his presidency, it’s disconcerting to imagine what Republicans would do if he did. The G.O.P. has stood by as Trump shatters norm after norm, offering handwringing and toothless statements in response to his most outrageous conduct. Can anyone confidently say that Republicans, who have been unwilling to stand up to Trump for two years, would rally if he actually proposed tacking on two more? So far, Trump is only joking. But Pelosi and the Democrats are steeling themselves for the possibility that what began in jest could morph into another break with precedent. “We have to inoculate against that,” Pelosi said of the potential for Trump to challenge the results of a possible Democratic victory. “We have to be prepared for that.”

‘Reckless, impulsive, self-destructive’: Psychiatrists warn Mueller report gives more evidence Trump is mentally unfit

Three psychiatrists have written an editorial for the Boston Globe warning that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election shows more evidence that President Donald Trump is mentally unfit to hold office.

The psychiatrists — Dr. Bandy X. Lee of Yale, Dr. Leonard L. Glass of Harvard Medical School, and Edwin B. Fisher of University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill — argue that Mueller’s report provides a disturbing new window into the president’s behavior, which is frequently marked by impulsive emotional meltdowns.

“The pattern that emerges of the president is one of rash, short-sighted decision-making, without consideration of consequences,” they write. “Reckless, impulsive moves that are self-destructive, despite the intention of self-protection, are characteristic of dangerous impairment. They impede Trump’s capacity to prioritize national security.”

They then quote from sections of the Mueller report that illustrate these behaviors, including his efforts to dangle pardons to potential witnesses and his effort to get Mueller fired as special counsel.

They say that his ordering former White House counsel Don McGahn to get rid of Mueller should be seen as especially alarming given how inherently self-destructive it was.

“In a post-Nixon era, and especially after the experience of firing Comey, a rational, non-impulsive person with reality-based decision-making would hesitate before pursuing this path,” they write. “He apparently believed he could use all the powers at his disposal to have his way, and almost delusionally expected impunity. Such a mindset of false beliefs in freedom from consequences is extremely dangerous when coupled with power and is great cause for alarm in the US presidency.”

Mitch McConnell Virtually Begs Democrats To Stop Investigating Trump

After ‘case closed” flopped, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell turned up on Fox News in a tone of virtual begging for the Trump investigations to stop.

McConnell whined to Hannity

McConnell said, “I think the case is closed. I think the controversy has been concluded. I don’t think the House thinks that and I think they’re going to try to stir this up, but enough already. I mean, we found out from the Mueller report that the Russians were deeply involved in it. There were something like 18-20 indictments of Russian companies and Russian individuals who were trying to get into the campaign and mess with it. I think it’s over. I think it’s time to let it go and move on.”

Republicans love to feel victimized, but McConnell did not sound like a strong leader who was defending an innocent president. He sounded like an unpopular Kentucky Senator who is terrified that the White House and his Senate majority are going to be gone by November 2020.

Mitch McConnell already got his Russia bribe

The Russians made sure to take care of McConnell with a $200 million payoff in the form of “investment” in the state of Kentucky. Sending Mitch McConnell who is even less popular than Trump out to complain the Democrats need to move on is one of the dumbest political strategies that the nation has seen in a while.

Trump has few defenders, and with Democrats in control of the House, McConnell has taken on the role of being the president’s congressional cover-up contact. Saying case closed doesn’t make it so. The investigations are going to roll on, and there is nothing that McConnell can do, but sit back and watch the facts wash Trump out to sea.

Donald Trump is caving

Palmer Report » Analysis

Considering Donald Trump’s severe and worsening mental problems, it’s entirely possible that he’s now convinced himself that the redacted portion of the Mueller report makes him look good, even though his own people have no doubt been telling him all along that it’s ugly enough to destroy him. Whatever the reason, despite his bluster, Trump is in full-on “cave” mode. We’ll see if it lasts.

There are telltale signs that Trump is leading a cult – and marching his followers toward oblivion: columnist

On Friday, author Douglas Rushkoff wrote in a post on Medium that President Donald Trump has mastered the art of creating a cult-like following among his base.

Rushkoff explained that it is hard to grasp how Trump still has supporters after multiple scandals and outlandish lies but noted that his base is not like normal political supporters.

“But if the Trumpists’ commitment seems surprising in the wake of ever-mounting scandals, that’s because mainstream journalists still haven’t grasped the Trump phenomenon for what it is: a cult.” he wrote.

“But Trump’s particularly loyal core constituency — his ability to joke that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose the support of his base, or to convince surrogates to endorse an ever-changing assortment of conflicting facts — suggests a more intense, cultish loyalty than we have seen before,” Rushkoff added.

He then went on to explain that there are telltale signs that Trump is leading a cult and compared him to cult leaders in the past.

“Cult leaders often demand testimonials or statements of loyalty from members, delivered in front of their peers or, better, family members who are not yet initiatedTrump’s followers are routinely asked to support increasingly difficult claims — or what members of mainstream consensus reality would call lies,” he explained.

“The parallels to the cult of Trump are obvious. For instance, anyone who has sat through the parade of testimonials at a cult dinner shouldn’t have been surprised to see Trump’s newly formed cabinet to compete to demonstrate their gratitude for being in his administration. This was the equivalent of his cult’s inner circle,” he said.

“Ultimately, we can all agree on one thing: At least one half of us are in a cult, being told a pack of lies and marching toward oblivion,” Rushkoff concluded.
