https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/msnbc-h...s-getting-away/In an opening segment on White House intransigence when it comes to answering press inquiries, MSNBC host Joy Reid busted the president for a rhetorical trick that allows his duck questioning and lie indiscriminately.
According to Reid, Trump’s habit of interrupting questions with repeated “excuse me’s” allows him to not have to explain himself when he makes an obviously false statement. Sharing clips of the president doing exactly that, Reid explained, “Two words Donald Trump loves to hit the media with: not ‘no collusion’ or ‘fake words,’ but ‘excuse me, excuse me’.”
“It’s a phrase or rebuke Trump uses to avoid topics he doesn’t like and shut down reporters who ask questions he doesn’t want to answer,” she continued. “‘Excuse me’ is how Trump tries to put reporters in their place.”
“This week he used it to cut off reporters before a press gaggle and it worked,” the MSNBC host added. “Rather than have to answer questions about whether White House counsel Don McGahn lied to Robert Mueller or whether he would let him testify to Congress, Trump was able to redirect the conversation by repeatedly making reporters stop talking with, ‘excuse me, excuse me’.”
Reid also scorched White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders for ducking the press — noting that the best she could do was meet the children of some reporters earlier in the week after it was rervealed taht she admitted to lying to special counsel Robert Mueller.

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/trump-r...e-wall-problem/Trump rambles incoherently in border interview: Dems should ‘get off their ass’ and ‘solve’ my wall problem
David Edwards DAVID EDWARDS 28 APR 2019 AT 12:23 ET President Donald Trump on Sunday accused Democratic lawmakers of sitting “on their ass” instead of capitulating to his demand to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The president made the remarks during an appearance on Sunday Futures with Maria Bartiromo, who was broadcasting from the border area.
“What we need is new laws that don’t allow this so when somebody comes in, we say sorry you’ve got to go out,” Trump opined. “We don’t need a court system. We have a court system that has 900,000 cases behind it. In other words they have a court which needs to hear 900,000 cases.”
“How ridiculous is this?” he added. “This has been building up for many years and it’s just a system that Congress can fix, Maria, and they don’t get off their ass and it’s the Democrats that can solve it so quickly because we have all of the infrastructure and I’ll have the wall up, by the end of next year, most of the wall will be up.”
“Do you see that happening in 2019?” Bartiromo asked, referring to bipartisan legislation.
“Yeah, Lindsey [Graham] has been great,” Trump opined. “We have a package of things that we’re asking for, and we’re actually going for a much bigger package than rather than those little things which are not little at all in terms of their importance, but we’re making a plan where we’re really talking about immigration laws at a much larger scale and we also have a plan for people coming in because we have so many companies coming into the United States because of my plan and because of our tax cuts and the tax plan, it’s really tax cut and jobs plan, we have so many companies — you know it better than anybody.”

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/trump-b...-crimes-report/Trump believes the Supreme Court will give him a ‘get out of jail free’ card for ‘all’ his crimes: report
TBogg TBOGG 28 APR 2019 AT 15:33 ET According to a report in the Washington Post, President Donald Trump is of the belief that the Supreme Court — which contains two of his own appointees — will keep him from having to face jail time.
The president is banking on a longheld tradition that sitting presidents can’t be indicted, with the Post noting that Trump tweeted “I DID NOTHING WRONG. If the partisan Dems ever tried to Impeach, I would first head to the U.S. Supreme Court.”
According to the report, Trump is likely wrong on the legal aspects, but that hasn’t kept him from believing he might get a helping hand from a conservative court.
“Constitutional experts immediately derided Trump’s faulty legal analysis,” the report states. “But the more striking message, the day after the court considered the administration’s plan to put a citizenship question on the 2020 Census, seemed to be Trump’s consistent theme that he views the nation’s highest court as an ally, and safeguard against lower court defeats and congressional opponents.”
The Post notes that Trump’s lawyers are pushing their cases to the Supreme Court at an accelerated pace in the hopes of getting the probable 2020 Republican candidate out from under a cloud of possible forced ouster and to get his policies implemented so he can claim wins for his agenda.
According to Elizabeth Wydra, president of the Constitutional Accountability Center, “President Trump views the Roberts Court as his potential, perhaps literal, ‘get out of jail free’ card.’ The question is, what does Chief Justice Roberts do?”
Princeton University political science professor Keith Whittington claims Trump may be in for a big — and unpleasant surprise.
“It’s one of the odd features of the Trump presidency that he says things out loud and in public that other people might say in private,” he explained.
What Trump does have going for him has been the high court’s recent rulings that have not considered the president’s on-the-record comments and tweets when reviewing his policies.
“With this court, they seem very inclined to put on blinders when it comes to really parsing the president’s words and understanding the motives driving the policy actions he’s undertaken during his presidency,” explained Kristen Clarke, president of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
As for all the president’s men who are advising him — regardless of what case law states — Trump has little choice but to reach as far as the Supreme Court as a “hail Mary” pass for his legal woes.
“More than anything, what’s the choice?” one adviser admitted. “He’s not going to just comply with Congress with their overreaching demands.”
