https://www.cbsnews.com/news/michael-coh...hollywood-tape/

The FBI search and seizure warrants executed against President Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen mentioned President Trump's name several times, sources familiar with the documents tell CBS News' Jeff Pegues. Sources who've seen the warrants told Pegues it appeared to them that the real target of the raids was Mr. Trump. One source called it a "search and destroy mission."

The search warrants also listed records related to the release of the so-called "Access Hollywood" tape, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News' Andres Triay and Len Tepper. The New York Times first reported the connection to the tape. The warrants executed at Cohen's office, hotel room and home became public knowledge Monday.

The FBI raid of Cohen's home, office and hotel room stemmed from information gathered during the course of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling but is part of a separate federal investigation. The searches were spearheaded by the FBI's public corruption unit.

Investigators were also looking for information related to non-disclosure agreements between Cohen and adult film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is cooperating with federal investigators.

Cohen has admitted to paying Daniels $130,000 ahead of the election, although the White House has continued to deny any sexual encounter between Mr. Trump and the adult film star

The raids were personally approved by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The "Access Hollywood" tape from 2005 was released in 2016, weeks before the presidential election, and included audio of vulgar comments by Mr. Trump about women.

Mr. Trump on Monday night called the raids a "disgrace" and part of a "witch hunt."

"It's a real disgrace," Mr. Trump said. He called it "an attack on our country," and he complained, "That is really a whole new level of unfairness."

Mr. Trump has declined to directly answer whether he will fire Mueller, but on Monday claimed "many people" have suggested he should.

"I think it's a disgrace what's going on," the president said. "We'll see what happens. ... Many people have said you should fire him."

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/13/politics/donald-trump-james-comey-book-revelations/index.html

It is nothing less than the most devastating, contemporaneous takedown of a sitting president in modern history.

The James Comey storm, brewing menacingly on the horizon for months, slammed into the White House just after 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, as the first leaks of the fired FBI director's explosive new book started gushing out.

Proving that revenge is a dish best served cold, Comey waited 11 months to exact his retribution for his dismissal by President Donald Trump last May. When it came it was unsparing, richly detailed and mortifying for the President.

He painted Trump as a relentless liar who is obsessively unethical, devoid of humanity and a slave to his ego, who is clueless about his job and unconcerned about a Russian assault on American democracy

Remember the last jacka** we had in the White House taunting " Mission Accomplished"?
Maybe he sizes up a war similarly like his presidency, a "legend in his own mind" and "If that's progress, I'll stick with going back to peace and normalcy"

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/14/politics/donald-trump-mission-accomplished/index.html

Less than 12 hours after he addressed the nation to announce a series of military strikes against Syria, President Donald Trump celebrated on Twitter.

"A perfectly executed strike last night," he wrote. "Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!"

Mission. Accomplished.
You might remember those two words emblazoned on a massive red, white and blue banner that hung behind the last Republican president -- George W. Bush -- as he spoke aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003. Bush's speech that day was regarded as a marker of the end of "major combat operations" in Iraq after just over a month of fighting.

As the war in Iraq dragged on for years to come and American casualties piled up, the "Mission Accomplished" banner became a punch line, a telling indication of the Bush administration's gross underestimation of the challenge posed by the conflict.
Years later, as he was preparing to leave office, Bush acknowledged the banner was a mistake.
"It was a sign aimed at the sailors on the ship, but it conveyed a broader knowledge," Bush said in 2008. "To some it said, well, Bush thinks the war in Iraq is over, when I didn't think that. But nonetheless, it conveyed the wrong message."
And now, just hours removed from strikes on Syria that were hotly debated even within his administration -- and for which there is no congressional authorization -- Trump is using those same words to declare victory.

What it suggests is either an ignorance of or a disinterest in recent history. Anyone -- and I mean anyone -- who has followed the political and policy debate in this country for the last 20 years knows exactly what the words "mission accomplished" conjure up. Particularly when in reference to a military strike against a foreign power. In the Middle East. With fears of escalation into a broader regional war rampant.

Words matter. Even if George W. Bush and the "Mission Accomplished" banner never existed, it's more than a little bit strange for Trump to declare victory so soon after he announced the strikes.

Here's the key piece of what he said Friday night
"The purpose of our actions tonight is to establish a strong deterrent against the production, spread, and use of chemical weapons. Establishing this deterrent is a vital national security interest of the United States. The combined American, British, and French response to these atrocities will integrate all instruments of our national power -- military, economic, and diplomatic. We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents."
If we are "prepared to sustain" our "response" until Syria stops the use of chemical weapons forever, it may well take more than a single night of missile strikes. And, isn't Trump the one who blasted the likes of President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for supposedly telegraphing the United States' strategic moves?

Trump tweeting out "Mission Accomplished" won't make one missile miss or knock one US ship off course.
But Trump would do well to remember the words of philosopher George Santayana: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Trump's comments cause him legal headaches — again

'For his lawyers, it must be like watching your toddler play in traffic,' one former federal prosecutor said.

President Donald Trump's penchant for freewheeling chatter on issues being litigated in court landed him in hot water again Thursday, potentially upending his attorneys' strategy in ongoing court battles involving his personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

In a matter of about 90 seconds in a "Fox and Friends" interview, Trump appeared to undercut Cohen's claim that he acted on his own in paying $130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election and managed to weaken his own attorneys' arguments in an ongoing fight over records the FBI seized from Cohen's home, office and hotel room.

"It's just a complete nightmare for his lawyers," said Ken White, a former federal corruption prosecutor based in Los Angeles. "The problem isn't just what he specifically admits in these statements. It's constantly generating inconsistent statements about issues that are going to be litigated, and that's what he has been doing."

"For his lawyers, it must be like watching your toddler play in traffic," White said. "You've got a client completely out of control."

For now, Republicans trying to work with Trump can honestly say,
"He's president. It's a fact. We've got to accept it and make the best of it."
But whom the Republican Party nominates in 2020 is a choice to be made, not a fate to be accepted. And we can do better than Trump.

Look at the different scenarios at play here in which Trump is single handedly destroying the country and even the globe. First day in office, we get to actually see his propensity for lying by the statement that he had the biggest presidential inauguration in history. Next he has successfully set out to undo any advancements that Obama and Democrats set in place such as, environmental improvements, banking regulations, a highly touted tax cut which adds 2 Trillion dollars to a budget Republicans dare not mention or approve 2 years ago. He has brought into the White House, scandals equal to or exceeding Richard M. Nixon's road to impeachment and last but definitely not least, the sad reality that he's a pathological liar who has destroyed people lives, fractured good will in regard to race relation and harmony within our society and culture. I love it when cwjga offers a defense toward Trump which we all know is like having a serial killer in our mist, who was caught on video along with having several eye witness observing a killing. but but but....... I'm embarrassed for you cwjga, solely for the fact that you'll attempt to travel 23,999 miles in the opposite direction (the earth is 24000 to get to your 1 mile destination.

Well, maybe he (Trump) is looking to be a one hit wonder. Reminds me of the German dictator Adolf Hitler, one kind act over a 2 week period should erase many years of genocide, murder and thievery. whistle
How many candidates in prison as we speak can qualify for the grand Nobel prize but ironically so, the first presentation was given to the man that invented dynamite. crazy

On MSNBC, they were discussing whether Trump would ever sit down with Mueller. Eugene Robinson said if Trump sits down with Mueller, in 30 minutes Trump will confess to three felonies that Mueller doesn't even know about. grin

Fox News is telling their viewers that the Mueller Probe has drug on for too long

Funny, because they didn't mention anything about the Hillary email probe or Benghazi probe:

Hillary Investigations: 72 Months, 0 Indictments

Trump/Russia - 14 Months, 23 indictments & counting.
