Republicans in Congress must now summon the courage to stand up to the racist ramblings of our "stable genius" president. Democratic and Republican senators must continue efforts to produce a bi-partisan Dream Act to be voted on by the Senate as part of the overall budget deal.

Are you angry about Trump’s racism and embarrassed by him at every turn? Channel that into a VOTE this November. Nobody gets to complain if they didn’t help get this shithole president out.

I've got news for those who thought Mexico was going to pay for Trump's pointless wall. It ain't Mexico who's gonna pay, it's you, the American taxpayer.

My shithole in Africa': Global reactions to Trump's comment

By David Williams, CNN

Updated 3:27 PM ET, Fri January 12, 2018

Alta Fourie's home in Bloemfontein, South Africa, has a perfectly manicured garden, lots of big windows and a vibrant, red tile roof.

You could call it a lot of things -- lovely, cute or charming come to mind -- but Fourie called it "my shithole in Africa."
CNN asked people from those places to which President Donald Trump reportedly referred to as "shithole countries" to share their reactions to his remarks. (Trump on Friday denied describing certain nations that way.)

The request got a huge response, with some angry, outraged, hurt or, like Fourie, just wanting to prove Trump wrong.

Two weeks ago a 26-year old soldier raced repeatedly into a burning Bronx apartment building, saving four people before he died in the flames. His name was Pvt. Emmanuel Mensah and he immigrated from Ghana, a country Donald Trump apparently thinks produces very subpar immigrants.

Graham of South Carolina released a statement that didn’t explicitly confirm what Trump said, but it didn’t contradict Durbin’s version of events.

“Following comments by the president, I said my piece directly to him yesterday,” Graham said. “The president and all those attending the meeting know what I said and how I feel. I’ve always believed that America is an idea, not defined by its people but by its ideals.”

Republican Senators Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Perdue of Georgia -- who attended Thursday’s meeting -- didn’t specifically deny Trump made the remarks but said in a joint statement Friday, "We do not recall the president saying these comments specifically but what he did call out was the imbalance in our current immigration system."

Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only black Republican in the chamber, was quoted by the Post and Courier in Charleston as saying that Graham told him the reports on the president’s remarks were "basically accurate." Scott, who wasn’t in the meeting, added, "If that comment is accurate, the comment is incredibly disappointing."

There's No Way Out

Trump’s presidency may be a dysfunctional disaster, but there’s no apparent way to end it.

Mike Segar / Reuters

David A. Graham 11:20 AM ET Politics

Last week, which brought the release of Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury, was rough for the White House. But this week has been worse still, and the damage has been almost entirely inflicted by the president himself.

If there’s no way for Trump to correct course, and no way for his opponents to force his removal him from office, that leaves only two more possibilities.

Trump could resign. It’s clear he isn’t interested in the work and is unhappy with the way he is treated by the press, the Congress, the courts, and foreign leaders. But Trump has had many opportunities to pull out, especially during the campaign, and never took them. His pride would seem to prevent him from resigning.

That means until at least the end of 2020, the situation will remain much as it is, with a president widely acknowledged to be dysfunctional and no way to change that. It is as though the United States is stumbling, never quite falling on its face but never fully righting itself, either, caught perpetually mid-stumble. The only certainty is more weeks like this one. There is no exit.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-ambassador-panama-resigns-says-cannot-serve-trump-163051490.html

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Ambassador to Panama John Feeley, a career diplomat and former Marine Corps helicopter pilot, has resigned, saying he no longer felt able to serve President Donald Trump.

Feeley's departure had been communicated to State Department officials on Dec. 27 and was not a response to Trump's alleged use of the word "shithole" to describe Haiti and African countries at a meeting on Thursday, U.S. officials said.

Feeley, one of the department's Latin America specialists and among its senior most officers, made clear that he had come to a place where he no longer felt able to serve under Trump.

"As a junior foreign service officer, I signed an oath to serve faithfully the president and his administration in an apolitical fashion, even when I might not agree with certain policies," Feeley said, according to an excerpt of a resignation letter read to Reuters on Friday.

"My instructors made clear that if I believed I could not do that, I would be honor bound to resign. That time has come."

With Trump, it seems necessary to retrieve the rich conceptual vocabulary of psychoanalysis. His aberrant behavior seems to demand deeper understanding. Why does he feel such a need to belittle and humiliate anyone who challenges his primacy, be it Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, Mitch McConnell or Kim Jong Un? What explains his habit of not simply denying criticisms made of him, but completely inverting them—to claim, for example, that he’s “the least racist person” of all, or that it was Hillary Clinton who colluded with the Russians in the 2016 election? How can he, without apparent awareness, embrace people one day, turn on them with fury the next, and then perhaps welcome them again as if nothing happened? These actions go beyond standard political spin and hypocrisy, beyond most politician’s self-aggrandizing or inconsistent behavior. Perceptive and psychologically conversant analysts should be able to contribute to our understanding of these sorts of patterns where political science and journalism cannot.

But there’s also a risk of repeating the errors of the Goldwater- and Nixon-era psychologists, who too often filtered their readings of those men’s personality through their own politics and failed to notice their high-level functioning in many areas. Trump, too, for all his juvenile, obnoxious and cruel antics, is a successful businessman and politician, one who functions in his job, however erratically. Moreover, as the psychiatrist Richard Friedman has argued, the character traits that make him outrageous aren’t necessarily symptoms of any deep psychological disorder; they may simply be the human traits of selfishness, pettiness, nastiness and shamelessness, in very high doses. Labeling Trump unstable or deranged does nothing to help us understand why he acts as he does. On the other hand, the dormant tradition of psychobiography, if practiced with due modesty and sensitivity, just might.

Deceased Navy vet's mother denied visa, forced to miss her son's funeral

Navy Veteran's Mother Misses His Funeral After Visa Requests Denied

The family of Ngoc Truong, a four-year Navy veteran who recently passed away after a battle with cancer, are dealing with another tragedy. According to them, Truong’s mother was denied a visa to come to the U.S. to attend his funeral.

“He’s already done for this country, but what has this country done for him? What did this country do for him?” Truong’s father said in an interview with WREG.

Truong died Dec. 17 after suddenly being diagnosed with leukemia. Services were held Dec. 26. He was 22 years old.

Written on his headstone is a version of the famous line from President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address: “Don’t ask what your country did for you, but ask what you did for your country”.

Though born in Vietnam, Truong was a U.S. citizen. He grew up in Blytheville, Ark., and after high school enlisted in the Navy, serving aboard the USS John McCain.

After four years in the service he left the Navy in October to go to school in Florida for graphic design. It was then he was suddenly struck with the fatal illness.

Truong’s parents are divorced, and his mother lives in Vietnam. According to his father, who runs a jewelry store in Blytheville, her visa application was denied twice. The episode has left him “fuming mad.”

In a statement emailed to WREG, the State Department did not explain why Truong’s mother was denied a visa.

“Visa records are confidential under U.S. law. We are unable to discuss specific visa cases,” wrote a State Department official.

CNN Communist News Network typical reporting fails to mention when Senator Rand Paul and other doctors went to Haiti it was Donald Trump who paid to restore the sight of 200 Haitians. Or that in 2006 among 81 votes in the Senate that Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer voted in favor of building a wall along the southern border. They were for it before they were against it.
And they didn’t even report what the President’s golf score was.
I laugh hearing people say Donald Trump is not my President because I can reply with Hillary Clinton is not my President. I thank you for not voting for Hillary.
