After seeing Spectrum add increase on top of increase, I need to look at pulling the plug on cable TV and switch to streaming. Has anyone in the Seneca Falls area made the switch and might offer helpful hints?

if you look in the computing and tech forum under satelite v cable tv (later changed to spectrum peeves customers) you will see a brief discussion on the best way to approach spectrum

if you have tv, internet and phone thru spectrum then the best thing to do is seperate the 3

once spectrum sees that you have all 3 services with them then they will continue to raise your rates because they think you will not drop some of their services

change some of their services for a few months and then go back to them for the lower 'new customer' rates

spectrum considers you to be a 'new' customer after 30 days of none service and you can get the lower rate for 'new customers'

have spectrum as your internet and use another company for your phone and another company for your tv

or change it around to fit your needs

netflix, amazon prime, hulu, roku... provides shows

if you have a cell phone then increase the data if it is more cost effective than having spectrum for all your internet needs

it depends how much internet you need

call them and ask why they increased it

if they say it costs more just laugh

tell them that they have removed a large amount of on-demand programs since january 1, 2018

that must have saved them a large amount of money

the price to watch a one time movie 'rental' seems to have doubled

then point out that just about every other commercial is spectrum boasting about how great their service is

if their service is that great do they really need to tell it to their own customers?

tell them to save the millions they spend on their own self promotion advertising and use it to provide better more affordable services

the 'zombie' commercial they have running is the worst yet

if you have been a long time customer point that out

do not let them give you the old double talk routine

if you talk to others that have the same service but you are paying more you

could call the public service commission to see if you are being overcharged

if you only view a few channels would it make sense to get your own antenna and

then you would not have to pay a monthly fee

see antennas priced between $30 - $150

the higher costs are for more channels / longer range

I will be gathering info to help folks not to pay the blood money for cable boxes and posting it soon. Spectrum has already started blacking out customers ahead of there stated letter.

I truly hope the person from charter/spectrum that is responsible for this steps on a lego bare footed daily for the rest of their life.

individuals that experience this disrespect should contact the public service commission at 1-800-342-3377 or the new york state attorney generals office or contact a local news station so that they can air the story on television

the more complaints they get the harder they will put pressure on spectrum

Cutting the cord will be discussed at a later time because that's where my house is heading. Ok this sounds complicated but it really is not we will start with that. A few things to remember are you have to maintain spectrum service and have wifi and a Roku streaming player in order to accomplish this.

After setting up your Roku (you don't need a subscription to any of the services that Roku is trying to sell) follow the link and video to learn a bit more on how it works.
