BREAKING: Jeff Sessions Orders New Look Into Uranium One Criminal Investigation
by Ryan Saavedra
December 21, 2017

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered prosecutors at the Department of Justice to begin interviewing FBI agents about evidence they uncovered in a criminal investigation into a highly-controversial uranium deal that involves Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Multiple law enforcement officials confirmed Sessions’ orders to prosecutors, NBC News reported exclusively in the early morning hours on Thursday.

At the heart of the issue is the 2010 Uranium One deal which Hillary Clinton signed off on while she was Secretary of State at the U.S. State Department.

I really don't have a problem looking into that investigation as long as they let Mueller continue unabated. Let the chips fall where they may. Trump is way too chummy with Putin for there to be nothing there. And Flynn lying certainly adds to it. This was a powerful Speech that Senator Warner gave:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-h...pardons-n831656

WASHINGTON — The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee is warning President Donald Trump against firing special counsel Robert Mueller or pardoning any targets of the federal probe into Russia and the president's Republican campaign.

Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said Wednesday that growing criticism of Mueller's probe pointed to an effort to lay the groundwork for Mueller's removal or other interference in the federal investigation. Warner says any attempt to remove Mueller would provoke a "constitutional crisis."

"Firing Mr. Mueller or any other of the top brass of this investigation would not only question this administration's commitment to the truth, but also to our most basic concept: Rule of law," Warner said on the Senate floor.

"It also has the potential to provoke a constitutional crisis. In the United States, no one, no one is above the law. Not even the president," he added.

Trump said recently that he would not try to push Mueller out, and a White House lawyer has repeatedly said the president is not considering any pardons.

Trump cannot directly fire Mueller, but critics say he could demand that top Justice Department officials fire Mueller and then remove them if they don't follow through.

On Russia and campaign ‘collusion,’ Trump picks the wrong fight

12/15/17 01:09 PM—Updated 12/15/17 01:31 PM
By Steve Benen

The original talking point from Trump World was that the Republican president and his political operation didn’t collude with Russia last year during its attack on the American elections. More recently, as the Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Russia scandal intensified, Team Trump shifted gears, insisting that even if there was collusion, that wouldn’t necessarily be illegal.

This morning, Donald Trump decided to switch back to the original argument, saying “no collusion” five times over the course of about a minute.

“Let’s put it this way: There is absolutely no collusion. That has been proven. When you look at the committees, whether it’s the Senate or the House, everybody – my worst enemies, they walk out, they say, ‘There is no collusion but we’ll continue to look.’ They’re spending millions and millions of dollars…. That was a Democrat hoax…

“There is absolutely no collusion…. So now even the Democrats admit there’s no collusion. There is no collusion – that’s it.”

For what it’s worth, I’m not aware of any Democrats who’ve made any such “admission,” though Trump has been known to embrace imaginary ideas as if they were true.

What Democrats are actually saying is largely the opposite. House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) explained over the weekend, for example, “The Russians offered help. The campaign accepted help. The Russians gave help. And the president made full use of that help.”

And by some measures, those details – which have already been thoroughly documented, and are not in dispute – amount to a fairly obvious case of collusion.

Perhaps the underlying problem in the political debate is that Trump and his critics are speaking past one another. For example, when the president says there was “no collusion,” and pretends that everyone accepts the accuracy of his odd claim, it’s not at all clear what he thinks that means.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/19/politics/trump-approval-new-low-history/index.html

By Ryan Struyk, CNN, Tue December 19, 2017

President Donald Trump's approval rating sank to a new low in CNN polling on Tuesday, earning the approval of just 35% of Americans less than a year into his first term.
That's a significant drop from the 45% approval rating that Trump had in March, shortly after taking office.

It marks the worst approval rating in a December of any elected president's first year in the White House by a wide margin — and only the second time since the dawn of modern polling that a president's approval rating sank under 50% at this point. A broad 59% of Americans said they disapprove of how Trump is handling his job as president.

Really? Funny how the last President ignored the rule of law.

Don't Fire Mueller, President Trump – Let Him Keep Making A Fool Of Himself Instead
Kurt Schlichter

My birthday is next week, and I am old enough to remember back when Robert Mueller’s Russia-Whatever investigation was about collusion. Remember collusion, that wacky concept from the heady days of early 2017, back when it was all Trump and Putin sittin’ in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g? Well, we aren’t hearing much about collusion anymore. In fact, we aren’t hearing anything about collusion anymore, except from Adam Schiff whenever he gets off the phone with Tater Stelter at CNN long enough to essentially insist that the collusion is all so very, very obvious, and that evidence is just a bourgeois conceit, and also please don’t look at the scheming bureaucrats behind the curtain.

Let’s see, Mueller got Paul Manafort for stuff he did back when the idea of President Trump was still a far-out Simpson’s gag. He got General Flynn for doing what Trump fired him for. He got some nobody named George Platypus or something for lying about something that means nothing. But did he get anybody for collusion? Anybody? Did his unbiased, Trump-hating, committed Democrat minions ever even leak any evidence of it, since they’ve leaked everything else? Hey look, tumbleweeds!

This pseudo-scandal is a joke, a scam, a desperate attempt by the establishment to try to claw back the power We The People relieved them of when we dissed their dominatrix Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit. And they are showing the same level of skill, savvy, and raw competence that led us to give them their walking papers.

It’s a toss-up as to whether Mueller is too dumb or too arrogant to bother hiding his team’s indisputable conflicts of interest and manifestations of improper intent that should shock the conscience of any American with a shred of decency – a category that excludes the vast majority of the mainstream media, liberals, and the cheesy Never Trump weasels of Conservative, Inc., who yearn for a return to the days of olde when people paid attention to them and booked passage on their sad sailing adventures.

Mueller is a bad joke who doesn’t seem to be in on it. He’s bumbling forward, apparently ignorant of just how horrible it looks – how horrible it is – to have hired no one but committed Hillary donors for his team. Actually, it’s much, much worse than that – he’s actually hired lawyers who represented some of the unindicted criminals associated with the Clinton mosaic of corruption. Perhaps in the world Mueller inhabits with tools like Jim Comey, another buffoon who loves to preen in the glow of a once-spotless reputation that he chose to Schiff all over, this plays. But in the real world, in our world, it’s a sham, and not a very good one at that.

The Russiagate non-scandal scandal is just another establishment grift, and it turns out that Mueller is the mark.

So, Mr. President, please don’t fire this guy. Let him stagger on for a while longer, destroying the façade of credibility our establishment betters thought they had constructed and that forms the basis of their shabby identities. He’s got nothing, and he will always have nothing, because the idiotic salve for the suckers that was Hillary’s excuse for losing to you – THE RUSSIANS DID IT! YEAH, UH, THE RUSSIANS! – was always a fraud, a way for that drunken aspiring tyrant and her coterie of slobbering courtiers to explain away their humiliating failure to beat you.

As the noose tightens on them – a noose they tied and slipped on themselves thinking they were going to use it on that infernal interloper – the endgame becomes clearer and clearer. The endgame is their own downfall. The dike is leaking like a sieve and the media liars no longer have enough fingers to plug all of the holes. You have senior FBI leaders taking out “insurance policies” against disfavored candidates being elected by the American people in the form of politicized and partisan investigations. You have these same bureaucrats with badges conspiring with a shady leftist oppo research group to fake evidence which they would then take to FISA judges to get warrants to let the Obama crew spy on the opposition. You have a special prosecutor who is grabbing potentially attorney-client emails because niceties like attorney-client privilege don’t matter when their establishment buddies’ personal power, position, and prestige are at stake.

Their cover-up is being uncovered, slowly, surely, relentlessly, despite the best efforts of their mainstream media bodyguard of lies. And they are afraid. Their panic accounts for the recent series of ridiculous provocations designed to psyche the president into firing Mueller and shutting down this prosecutorial Donner Party. Conning The Donald into precipitous action was their only hope, a ploy designed to create a martyr out of that sad-faced shrub.

When the transition email thing broke it was Oh yeah! Oh boy! Trump’s going to totally fire Mueller now! Social media was swamped by a coordinated Twitter tsunami of liberal femboys and celebrity fatties threatening to waddle into the streets – THE STREETS! – armed with their outrage and, inexplicably, cell phone chargers, to right this impending wrong. For its part, conservative Twitter watched this festival of fussy indignation and concluded that their proposed Second Civil War would go really quick and be really amusing.

This farce is grinding to a halt, threats that Mueller may try to drag it out for another year notwithstanding. Improperly seizing the transition emails was not a flexing of Mueller’s atrophied muscles but a confession that he is spinning his wheels. The transition, you know, came after the election that was supposedly influenced by all this invisible “collusion.” But hey – perhaps someone sent an email on a .gov account saying, “Gee, remember how we worked with Vlad to get him to buy $100,000 of Facebook ads promoting the ‘Hillary wants to outlaw the flag’ story from ‘Truz Newz’ targeted at working class whites in Wisconsin and how that won the election? Good times!” Unlikely. Even Team Smartest Woman In The World Who Still Lost To Donald Trump was smart enough to use its own servers for its illegal activities.

Mueller and his Loretta Lynch mob don’t have squat. They know it. We know it. Even somewhere in the back of their minds, past the voices and the demons, the Never Trumpers know it. The Grand Marshal of the HIPAA Court is not going to arrest everyone in the White House for treason. Mueller is going to come out with a report with lots of innuendo and a few outright lies, but no yellow scalp. A year from now – three years from now, and if the wins keep coming, seven years from now – Donald Trump will still be president.

Don’t fire him, Mr. President, at least not yet. Do something even crueler. Let Mueller and his pack of Democrat clowns keep making fools of themselves.

Why Robert Mueller is the most powerful man in Washington

By Joan Biskupic, CNN Legal Analyst and Supreme Court Biographer October 31, 2017

Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller's one-two punch on Monday sent a forceful message to President Donald Trump, the public and potential suspects about the case he is constructing of Trump associates' involvement with Russia during the 2016 campaign.
Mueller showed he can keep a secret and maximize the impact of what he makes public.

In the first major filings of his investigation into the Russian effort to influence the election, Mueller revealed how broadly he has taken his mandate, the kinds of records he has uncovered, and how he has leveraged at least one insider to cooperate.

His double-barrel strike was likely more potent than releasing on two different days the indictment related to former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former Trump campaign official Rick Gates, and the plea deal of George Papadopoulos.

"There's a 'large scale ongoing investigation of which this case is a small part,'" Aaron Zelinsky of the special counsel's office said during Papadopoulos' sentencing hearing earlier this month, according to a transcript unsealed Monday.

Looks like we are all in agreement Mueller should stay.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/20/politics/mark-warner-mueller-warning/index.html

Warner: Firing Mueller would be 'gross abuse of power'

By Jeremy Herb and Manu Raju, CNN

Updated 7:52 AM ET, Thu December 21, 2017

Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday that the firing of Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller would be a "gross abuse of power" and called for Congress to respond with "significant consequences" if President Donald Trump took that step.
Warner, a Virginia Democrat, took to the Senate floor for a speech, in which he said the firing of Mueller or the pardoning of those charged in the special counsel's investigation would represent crossing his "red line."
"Any attempt by this President to remove special counsel Mueller from his position or to pardon key witnesses in any effort to shield them from accountability or shut down the investigation would be a gross abuse of power and a flagrant violation of executive branch responsibilities and authorities," Warner said. "These truly are red lines and simply cannot allow them to be crossed."

"Congress must make clear to the President that firing the special counsel or interfering with his investigation by issuing pardons of essential witnesses is unacceptable and would have immediate and significant consequences," he added.

White House special counsel Ty Cobb told CNN in response to the speech that there is "no consideration" of firing Mueller.
"If the media is going to continue to ask for responses to every absurd and baseless rumor, attention-seeking partisans will continue to spread them," Cobb said. "For five months or more, the White House has persistently and emphatically stated there is no consideration of firing the special counsel, and the White House willingly affirms yet again, as it has every day this week, there is no consideration being given to the termination of the special counsel."

Warner's speech comes as Mueller is facing a growing number of Republicans who have been critical Mueller's probe for being biased against Trump. They've pointed to the text messages of FBI agent Peter Strzok, who was removed from Mueller's team after the anti-Trump messages surfaced.
Warner argued that the congressional probes into possible collusion between the Trump team and Russian officials -- the Senate Intelligence Committee, House Intelligence Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee all have open investigations -- were not the same as Mueller's investigation because Congress was not investigating potential criminal wrongdoing.

"It should be very clear that our committee cannot and will not stand as a substitute for Mr. Mueller's investigation," Warner said.
On Sunday, Trump told reporters he's not considering firing Mueller, but added that his "people" are "very upset" about the counsel's decision to obtain tens of thousands of emails from the Trump transition team.
After his speech, Warner told reporters he was motivated to deliver his speech before lawmakers head home for Christmas because he sees a "coordinate effort to undermine Mueller, and in many ways more broadly even the FBI."
But Warner would not discuss specifics about what he thought should be done if his red line was crossed, and Mueller was fired or those charged in the probe were pardoned.
When asked if crossing his red line was an impeachable offense, Warner said: "My hope is that other members will echo the call I made on both sides of the aisle, and I hope that the President will adhere to what he's said recently that he has no intentions."

Democrats have been pushing for the Senate to take action on legislation to protect the special counsel from being fired by the President. There are currently two bipartisan bills introduced in the Senate to do so, and the senators involved are negotiating to combine them into one measure.

Those calling for a speedy conclusion to the congressional investigations into Russian election meddling are either doing so for strictly political reasons, or they have no idea how long investigations take and what is required to do them well.

Recent indictments filed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in the Russia probe (and the prospect of others) should have already demonstrated to congressional investigators pursuing similar lines of inquiry that there were crimes committed, that there was a cover up and that much likely remains to be done to reveal the full extent of wrongdoing.

And yet, there are concerning reports that some congressional investigators are aiming to conclude their work as early as this month.

And though much of the internal workings of the congressional investigations is still unknown, it is hard for me, given my experaience with similarly complex investigations, to understand why, for instance, with the thousands of documents made available to the congressional investigators, senators asked Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner about his meeting with the head of Vnesheconombank Sergey Gorkov back in July.

Corporate investigations of financial crimes, even those involving significantly more resources and manpower than the Congressional committees, usually take years to complete. The Russia probes present a virtually unprecedented challenge for our democracy and our systems of accountability. It is unreasonable and inappropriate to rush the Senate and the House investigations — especially when the integrity of our democracy is stake.

Diana Pilipenko is the principal investigator for the Moscow Project at the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Previously she managed corporate investigations at Deloitte, a financial services firm.
