Garrison Keillor is still appearing in Ithaca this Saturday, for now

Garrison Keillor, who has been fired by Minnesota Public Radio for alleged “inappropriate behavior,” is still scheduled for three performances this week produced by DSP Shows, including Saturday at Ithaca’s State Theatre.

A statement from MPR released late Wednesday morning says the company is “terminating its contracts with Garrison Keillor and his private media companies.”

“Last month, MPR was notified of the allegations which relate to Mr. Keillor’s conduct while he was responsible for the production of A Prairie Home Companion,” says MPR’s statement. Keillor retired from Prairie Home Companion last year, and MPR says the show, now hosted by Chris Thile, will change its name.

Keillor is on tour this fall with Robin & Linda Williams, who’ve appeared on his show since its early days. “Tickets are still available” for tonight’s show at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, DSP Shows announced on the Facebook event page earlier this afternoon. They’re also scheduled to appear at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, Connecticut tomorrow, and at the State Theatre of Ithaca this Saturday.

Representatives from DSP Shows have yet to respond to queries posted by ticketholders on the event pages, or to a request for information from 14850 Magazine, but we understand the dust has yet to settle on today’s events.

“Garrison Keillor has been an important part of the growth and success of MPR, and all of us in the MPR community are saddened by these circumstances,” said Jon McTaggart, President of MPR. “While we appreciate the contributions Garrison has made to MPR and to all of public radio, we believe this decision is the right thing to do and is necessary to continue to earn the trust of our audiences, employees and supporters of our public service.”
