First they fired all of the delivery people and now send the paper via the Postal Service. Now the Sunday edition is down to one section, Life By The Lakes, so that there is no time-sensitive coverage.

None of this seems to have been announced or explained - they thought we wouldn't notice?

Notice what? Are you suddenly getting something other than what you're paying for?

I guess the difference between day-old news and 1.5 day-old news isn't huge, since no one really looks for "news" in the print media. It was a great first job to have as a delivery kid. Can't imagine the letter carriers are overjoyed.

they were having trouble getting reliable people to deliver the newspaper

usually offer a card/tip to the newspaper carrier around this time

will the mail delivery person be able to accept a tip for deliverying the newspaper?

A situation likely the result of receiving a lousy card rather than a good tip. whistle

No need. The USPS pays their carriers good wages, with decent benefits.

Nonsense. I challenge you to find another source for local news and information that small newspapers are uniquely qualified to handle.

That is absolutely UNTRUE. There are multiple sections (A-E) in Sunday's paper.

Who give's a whit WHO delivers the paper, just as long as the business-model works?

Where in the world do you people come up with your nonsense???

are you suggesting that the FLtimes changed their entire delivery system due to just one customer?

now the FLtimes just drop off the bundles of newspapers to the post office rather than having to deliver to every newspaper delivery person

would seem more cost effective

the FLtimes may convert the sunday paper to the saturday paper to allow for all of their newspapers to be delivered by USPS

OR... they may continue to maintain carriers one day a week, as they currently do.

I am so happy with the service. I had the circulation on speed dial because of poor delivery service these last few years and was just about ready to stop the service. I use it for the local news only since no local paper can cover national or international news as they used to. The first years we lived in Geneva (2005-2013) the service was excellent and then it fell apart. My paper would arrive anytime from 2:30 to 7:00 or not at all. Now I get my paper every day and on Sunday my paper is at my house by 8:00 am. Love it.

I agree, tag2. We had a similar experience before we went to only e-edition. It's just sad to see the change - it was my first real job, as it was for many.
