It is the same truth printed over and over but you don't seem to understand so we have to keep trying.

The dump and blue green algae are environmental problems made worse by a president who could care less about the environment.

Trump Is Making Canada Great Again

While America closes its borders, its northern neighbor is poaching some of the best tech talent in the world.

By RICHARD FLORIDA and JOSHUA GANS October 01, 2017

It’s no secret that the United States has long dominated cutting-edge technologies, from personal computers and biotech to smartphones and social media. One big reason: America’s track record of attracting global talent, like the Scottish-born steel magnate Andrew Carnegie or the Hungarian-born Andrew Grove, a pioneer in the semiconductor industry, or, more recently, Google’s Sergey Brin—and many other entrepreneurs in between and afterward.

But that edge may be disappearing thanks to the new president. Just eight months into office, President Donald Trump has moved to cut legal immigration by half over the next decade, increase security along the border, build a wall with Mexico, ban travel indefinitely from several countries and overturn DACA, the Obama-era policy that grants work permits to undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as minors. The Trump administration has also suggested limiting “startup visas” for high-tech entrepreneurs entering the United States, and massively cutting America’s funding for scientific research. Trump’s aggressive “America first” posture on trade and international diplomacy has transformed the United States into something of a pariah nation, out of touch with the basic norms and values of advanced democracies.

Yup we should be far more worried about Coumo. He is just an idiot.

Gov. Cuomo's Transgender Travel Ban Forces U-Albany Football to Sleep 70 Miles Away from its Opponent

New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo’s executive order banning non-essential travel by state employees to North Carolina in response to the state's stance on transgender issues has forced the University of Albany’s varsity football team to sleep over 70 miles out of the state prior to its Saturday game, reports the Times Union.

On Saturday, the U-Albany Great Danes are ranked 19th in Division 1 FCS and are playing the 23rd ranked Elon Phoenix football team of Elon, North Carolina. As if a game on the road against a conference opponent was not challenging enough, the Danes are forced to sleep outside of the state of North Carolina because of the state’s former stance against transgender individual’s using the bathroom of their choice.

In 2016, North Carolina passed and signed into law a bill that required individuals to use the bathroom of their biological sex at birth, not the sex they identified by. In response, NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo placed a travel ban for state employees and barred any use of state funds in the Tar Heel State.

Despite North Carolina repealing their original transgender bill and allowing transgender individuals to use the bathroom of their choice in March 2017, Gov. Cuomo still kept his executive order travel ban in place.

Because of that, the Great Danes are staying at a hotel in South Boston, VA, which adds nearly an hour and half to their commute. The team, to their credit, is taking the distance in stride saying it will not affect their game today, which kicked off today at 2:00 pm.

"All I know is that it's going to be an interesting weekend, but we're not going to let it faze us," redshirt sophomore quarterback Will Brunson said.

"It's definitely not beneficial," U-Albany senior fullback-tight end Anthony Manzo-Lewis said. Adding, "There's nothing we can do at this point. Suck it up, and that's all we can do."

The National Collegiate Athletics Association temporarily suspended scheduling national sporting events in North Carolina, but re-continued last April after parts of the 2016 transgender bill were repealed. In 2016, Governor Cuomo's ban forced U-Albany's mens basketball team to cancel their away game against Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

The governor has made no signs that he is going to lift his travel restriction any time soon.

The number of people without drinking water in Puerto Rico increased by more than 10 percent toward the end of last week, even as President Donald Trump on Sunday was characterizing the hurricane relief efforts as “amazing.”

Fifty-five percent of the island’s residents were reported as not having access to drinking water as of Saturday, up from 44% reported on Wednesday, according to figures from the U.S. Defense Department. Meanwhile, 95 percent of people were without electrical power as of Saturday, the DOD reported.

At a press conference on Sunday morning ― 11 days after Hurricane Maria made landfall on the island ― Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello expressed both confidence and frustration over the ongoing relief efforts.

Food and water are getting there, it is increasing, the logistics and the visibilities [of the aid effort] are increasing as well, although as I’ve stated before we recognize that we still need to do much more,” he said.

Rossello went on to discuss the “disadvantage and inequality” that he said his island’s residents have faced for “more than a century” when compared to the U.S. mainland.

“Even after the storm hit Puerto Rico, even when it was evident that it was a disaster in the U.S., only half of our U.S. citizens in the mainland knew that Puerto Ricans were U.S. citizens,” he said.

A poll by Morning Consult found that only 54 percent of Americans were aware of the citizenship status of Puerto Ricans.

He went on to stress the poor health care received by the island’s roughly 3.4 million residents, compared with that available for those on the mainland. He also said that Puerto Rico’s military veterans “don’t get equal treatment,” despite the island having a storied history of military service.

“I invite everybody to reflect on this situation,” he said.

The Republican-led Congress failed to reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) over the weekend, spreading uncertainty and panic among some states that funding for the program would dry up and threaten the lives of the nine million U.S. children enrolled in the program.

Lawmakers missed a Sept. 30 deadline to reauthorize the Clinton-era initiative, which provides insurance coverage for kids in families with lower to middle-class incomes at the cost of some $14 billion per year. Because of the way its funding is dispersed, however, money will not run out for most states immediately.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said last week that an “overwhelming number of states have some money to continue to spend” on the program.

“So think that in other words, there’s a few days leeway — there might be a few weeks leeway,” he added. “But I can’t be specific because I don’t know but it’s too bad it’s not done right now

After a cold open that found Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump royally botching his response to the Puerto Rico hurricane aftermath, Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” anchors came out swinging in the Season 43 premiere.

“Trump says the people of Puerto Rico ‘want everything to be done for them,’” Colin Jost said. “Then he told his caddy to repair his divot and drive him to the next hole. Hey, Trump always said he was going to get things done faster than any other president. And now I believe him. Because it took George W. Bush five years to get his Katrina.”

Michael Che had even harsher words about Trump’s Twitter attacks on San Juan’s mayor, who the president said “was very complimentary only a few days ago” and “has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.”

Oh really, Donald? You bitch,” Che responded. “Was she nasty to you? How nasty? Are you shaking? Do you want to smoke a Virginia Slim until your hand stops moving?”

“This isn’t a complicated issue, man, it’s hurricane relief,” he continued. “You just did this very same thing for white people, twice. So, tell Melania to put on her flood heels, get some bottled water, some food, pack up some extra Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl T-shirts and write them a check with our money, you cheap cracker!”

“In one month you have mishandled Puerto Rico, DACA, the NFL,” Che concluded. “It’s like when anybody darker than your golf pants has a problem you’re thinking, how can I make this worse?”

There is nothing Alec Baldwin could do to top that.

More GOP senators willing to tell Trump to take a hike

An increasing number of Republicans have nothing to lose in crossing the president and Mitch McConnell — a warning sign for tax reform.

By BURGESS EVERETT and SEUNG MIN KIM

10/04/2017 05:06 AM EDT

There’s a growing faction inside the Senate Republican Conference, and it looks like bad news for Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump: The devil-may-care caucus.

Unbeholden to Republican orthodoxy and freed from the burdens of imminent reelection campaigns, more GOP senators are flexing their independence in the aftermath of the party’s failed effort to repeal Obamacare. Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee is the latest addition to the ranks. Days after announcing he would not seek reelection in 2018, he threatened to buck Republicans on tax reform and stood by his earlier criticism of Trump as lacking the stability or competence to be president.

Corker joins longtime GOP contrarians John McCain, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Rand Paul in a group that’s willing to vote principle over party line, even if it means sinking some of the party’s cherished agenda items. Roy Moore might be next: The rabble-rousing conservative is favored to win an open Alabama Senate seat after being bombarded by millions of dollars in McConnell-sanctioned campaign ads.
