McGregor has a punchers chance but Mayweather will dominate imo. Huge payday for both. Interesting insights of McGregor. I think Botter nails it.

Win or Lose vs. Floyd, Conor McGregor Likely Will Never Return to the UFC

Report
Jeremy Botter

June 16, 2017

On Wednesday, the impossible dream, the flight of fancy, the ridiculous notion became reality: Floyd Mayweather, owner of all sporting pay-per-view records of note, will exit a two-year retirement for the August 26 boxing match against Conor McGregor, the brightest star mixed martial arts has ever seen.

McGregor is the highest-paid Ultimate Fighting Championship athlete ever, but the leap he is about to make is an extraordinary one. He says he'll go from his comparatively low estimated paydays to over $100 million in one night.

And then, according to UFC President Dana White, he'll come back to the UFC for a lightweight title defense in December, where he will presumably go back to making $3 million guaranteed for his fights. From $100 million to $3 million, for the same amount of work.

Sure he will.

Fight-hype tour over finally. Things get real Aug. 26. Both cat's will go home rolling in dough, laughing at the world.

Conor has size, good pop, and youth in his corner. Matters not. Champ goes 50-0.

Here's why...

Fascinating stuff. Arguably the most challenging human vs. human competition. Even the most physically complete fighter can meet defeat without a fine-tuned winning attitude.

No doubt that applies to mountaineering too!

Digging from the deepest pockets of human constitution. No room for lies, pretense or posturing. Pure, minimalist and raw, man against himself.

I'm really not a fan of Floyd, but I hope he knocks Conner out in 3 rounds or less.

Interesting analysis from the Champ...

Floyd Mayweather: I've 'lost a step'; Conor McGregor has edge on paper

Aug 9, 2017

"Floyd Mayweather spent much of his promotional tour last month mocking Conor McGregor's skills and confidently predicting he would dominate their Aug. 26 boxing match, but he struck a more deferential tone Tuesday, acknowledging that he has "lost a step" and that McGregor, at least on paper, has the edge over him.

In an interview with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, Mayweather, 40, pointed to McGregor's advantages in size and age as reasons why the UFC fighter poses a legitimate challenge.

Mayweather, however, emphasized that he believes an "older" Mayweather still reigns supreme against McGregor, telling Smith, "I didn't say I couldn't fight. I just said I'm not the same Floyd Mayweather I once was."
