https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-close-is-donald-trump-to-a-psychiatric-breakdown?ref=homeHow Close Is Donald Trump to a Psychiatric Breakdown?Last fall, prominent psychiatrists broke with the American Psychiatric Association to warn that President Trump is dangerous and mentally unstable. A bitter controversy started. Rosemary Sword Gail Sheehy 03.23.18 11:21 PM ET NOTE: Due to an editing error, an earlier version of this piece misidentified the professional organization that imposed the gag rule on psychiatric professionals. It is the American Psychiatric Association, not the American Psychological Association. The Beast regrets the error. With reports that a giddy commander in chief is running around the White House like a kid freed of any adult supervision, having dispatched every moderate who hasn’t resigned in hopes of saving a shred of his integrity, Donald Trump now appears to be in a state of mania as he escalates his efforts to bolster his fragile ego before he goes into the cage with special prosecutor Robert Mueller—or fires him. This was exactly what the contributors to the book The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump warned about six months ago. The psychiatric professionals who contributed to the book have monitored and come to know Trump’s character better than most clients they have treated or people they have interviewed. As the special prosecutor’s noose tightens around the president and his cultish family, it is increasingly clear that he is an imminent danger to the public, and this impinges on professionals’ duty to society. Sheehy wrote about the book and its genesis in these pages last October (Sheehy and Sword also contributed to the book). Lawmakers with experience as prosecutors or foreign affairs experts are sounding red alerts about how far out of control is this tormented tweeter. In this White House it’s now every man for himself. As authors of the book warned, Trump trusts no one. Predictably, that has taught everyone who works for him that they can’t trust their boss. Praised today, fired tomorrow. The authors of the book warned that the Trump effect was creating a “malignant normalcy,” a collective psychological anesthesia in the face of people’s free-floating fears about the stability of this president. Last fall, it was the kind of hush that falls before an impending hurricane or an October Surprise. The book warned that the worst was ahead. Trump’s paranoia, exaggerated by the real and imminent threat of prosecution for obstruction of justice, money laundering, and physical intimidation of women he has bought for sexual pleasure, is reaching a break point. Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal warns of a “catastrophic crisis” pitting an unhinged president against the rule of law and the future of democracy. “It’s an onrushing train heading straight at us,” warned Sen. Chris Coons this week. The Democrat from Delaware likely has inside knowledge from his seat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

slimeballs. https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/26/us/emma-gonzalez-photo-doctored-trnd/index.htmlA doctored animation of Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez ripping the US Constitution in two went viral on social media after Gab, a so-called "free speech social network" that features the controversial Pepe the Frog as its account image, posted it on Twitter.
The tweet gathered 1,500 retweets and 2,900 likes and only after a few hours did Gab specify the fake animation was "obviously a parody/satire." The original animation is from a Teen Vogue story released March 23 featuring Gonzalez and other teen activists, as Allure & Teen Vogue communications director Jaime Ellyn Marsanico confirmed to CNN. It shows Gonzalez ripping a target poster, not the Constitution. Teen Vogue chief content officer, Phillip Picardi, also set the record straight on Twitter: "The fact that we even have to clarify this is proof of how democracy continues to be fractured by people who manipulate and fabricate the truth," Picardi said. The most popular debunk was from Donald Moynihan, a professor at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, who said: "Just a sample of what NRA supporters are doing to teenagers who survived a massacre (real picture on the right)": However, this series of debunks did not stop the fake image from going viral, crossing platforms, websites and blogs. For example, actor Adam Baldwin, who has a verified account on Twitter, tweeted the doctored animation to his 270,000 followers. The tweet was still online at the time of writing. Over the past few weeks, Gonzalez has become the face of the #NeverAgain movement that flooded Washington, D.C. and other American cities over the weekend for the March for Our Lives rally. Her iconic speech in Washington, which included a prolonged moment of silence, is the latest in a series of appearances that made the 18-year-old a popular household name since a gunman killed 17 people on February 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. But her gun-control activism also attracted a smear campaign and personal attacks from conservative figures and far-right fringes.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/analysis-trump-finds-leaving-syria-043909573.htmlIn heated exchanges with his national security team in recent weeks, President Donald Trump repeatedly made clear he saw little incentive for the United States to be involved in Syria's intractable civil war.
Then he pushed the U.S. military back into the quagmire.
In doing so, Trump is trying to confront a dilemma that haunted his predecessor, Barack Obama. Syria's seven-year civil war presents few fast or easy solutions for the U.S., yet the geopolitical rivalries at play, the presence of the Islamic State group and other extremists, and the atrocities perpetrated by the Assad government make the situation impossible to ignore. Thus far, Trump and his top advisers have sent mixed messages about what Friday's U.S., British and French strikes may mean for his administration's future commitment in Syria. The strikes themselves were limited — 105 weapons launched against three targets. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis described the action as a "one-time shot" in retaliation for the Syrian government's apparent use of chemical weapons in an April 7 attack that killed more than 40 people. Trump, however, cast the strikes in more sweeping terms, promising he was ready to keep the U.S. military engaged if Syrian President Bashar Assad were to use deadly gases again. "We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents," Trump said in a televised address to the nation from the White House on Friday night. His comments were echoed Saturday by Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, who said the president told her the military was "locked and loaded" if Syria launched another chemical weapons attack. The president's statement was a marked shift from his recent posture on Syria. Earlier this month, he privately told advisers that the U.S. was getting "nothing" out of being involved in Syria and he made clear he wanted the 2,000 American troops currently there fighting ISIS militants out by the fall.
That order left many of Trump's national security advisers on edge, concerned that pulling out even that small U.S. force would result in a power vacuum that Iran could fill.It did win him praise from political supporters who perceive Syria as a costly wasteland and see Trump as a president who promised an "America First" agenda that did not include sustained American military commitments overseas. The importance of that pledge to some Trump backers quickly became apparent, with even the relatively limited American intervention in Syria leaving them deeply frustrated. "This is not why Donald Trump got elected," said Laura Ingraham, the Fox News host who has been supportive of the president. Ann Coulter, another conservative commentator, spent the weekend highlighting angry messages on Twitter from apparent Trump supporters, including one who wrote that while the "the direct damage was some buildings in Damascus; the collateral damage was Trump's political support base." If Trump was bothered by the growing criticism, he didn't show it. He took to Twitter on Saturday morning and wrote "Mission Accomplished" — adopting a phrase that haunted President George W. Bush during the Iraq war. For some, those two words represent the short-sightedness about how quickly the U.S. can become entangled in a protracted Middle East conflict. Trump's view of the situation on Syria has shifted repeatedly in recent years. As a private citizen in 2013, he said Obama should "stay the hell out of Syria." Trump condemned Obama for declaring that Syria's use of chemical weapons would cross a "red line" for the United States and he said it made Obama look weak when he didn't follow through with a military strike after Assad used deadly gases against civilians. Less than three months after Trump took office, the U.S. assessed that Assad had again used chemical weapons to kill Syrians. Moved by the images of dead children, Trump stunned many of his own supporters by saying that the action had crossed "many, many lines" for him. He ordered a U.S. airstrike on a Syrian air base. Since then, Trump's views on the situation in Syria have evolved. Earlier this year, he began telling advisers that as soon as the U.S. could declare victory against IS, which has taken hold in Syria amid the chaos of the civil war, he wanted American troops out.
At a recent event in Ohio, Trump said of Syria: "Let other people take care of it now."
Just one week later came the attack that drew Trump back in.

BREAKING NEWS! WOW!https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/s...in-next-90-daysAdult film actress Stephanie Clifford’s lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said Sunday that he expected criminal charges to be revealed against President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, within 90 days.
“I strongly believe that within the next 90 days we’re going to see an unsealing of an indictment against Mr. Cohen for a host of very serious offenses, and I believe, Jake, that is going to be a significant domino that’s going to fall in connection with this,” Avenatti said told CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday. “I think he can be indicted for bank fraud, wire fraud, campaign finance violations,” Avenatti added. “I think there is a whole host of potential criminal conduct that could be charged. According to his attorneys, the FBI seized thousands if not millions of pages of documents in connection with the raids going back some 30 years. This guy is radioactive right now, and this is not going to end well.” Avenatti and his client, who goes by the name Stormy Daniels professionally, had previously sued Trump over Clifford’s right to tell the story of her alleged affair with the President. In 2016, Clifford signed an NDA covering the alleged affair that she now argues is invalid because Trump didn’t sign it. Clifford also sued Cohen for defamation after, she said, Cohen implied she was lying about the affair. Cohen’s home, office and hotel room were raided Monday as part of what prosecutors later revealed was a months-long investigation of his business practices, among other matters. Avenatti said Clifford is set to attend the Monday hearing at which Cohen will present a client list to U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood, part of his attempt to argue that documents seized in the raids are protected under attorney-client privilege.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-other-...s-done?ref=homeAlana Evans, an adult actress who says she was invited to join Trump and Daniels in a hotel-room romp, opens up about the extreme harassment she’s received since coming forward.
When The Wall Street Journal first reported on the $130,000 in hush money that President Donald Trump’s longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid porn star Stormy Daniels, all parties involved maintained an air of deniability. At the time, Cohen even provided a letter allegedly signed by Daniels denying any “hush money” payment or any “sexual and/or romantic affair” with Trump. They weren’t counting on the other woman—the one Daniels and Trump invited over for that first encounter in Tahoe during the July 2006 American Century Championship gold tournament—to come forward. Porn star Alana Evans, a close friend and Daniels’ then-neighbor, happened to be in Tahoe at the same time. Evans recounted exclusively to The Daily Beast the conversations she’d had with Daniels at the time, thus corroborating the Trump affair claim. “Stormy calls me four or five times, by the last two phone calls she’s with Donald [Trump] and I can hear him, and he’s talking through the phone to me saying, ‘Oh come on Alana, let’s have some fun! Let’s have some fun! Come to the party, we’re waiting for you.’ And I was like, ‘OMG it’s Donald Trump!’” Evans previously recalled. “Men like him scare me because they have so much power and this was way before his presidential nomination. So I bailed on them and turned my phone off.” The next day Evans apologized for bailing, and asked Daniels how her night was. “She tells me, ‘All I’m going to say is: I ended up with Donald in his hotel room. Picture him chasing me around his hotel room in his tighty-whities.’” As an AVN Hall of Famer with over a decade in the porn business, Evans is accustomed to being a public figure. But when the statements she made about Trump went viral, the type of notoriety she encountered was shocking—some might even say life-changing. With one interview, she became “the other woman,” and the one person who could confirm the affair because she hadn’t signed an NDA or been paid off. In a new interview, Evans opens up to The Daily Beast about life now, the death threats she’s received, and the extreme lengths some Trump fans will go to harass her. She’s also trying to take advantage of the platform she has now to educate fellow performers, attempting to make the adult industry a safer, healthier place to work. When your statements about Trump and Stormy were first published, how did people in the adult industry handle it? At the time this all happened, I’d been fighting to get our testing procedures updated, and I wasn’t well-liked at that moment because I was the voice speaking out, taking on the system with my union team. I went to a party and people I’d known for decades gave me the cold shoulder and didn’t want to be seen talking to me.
