Missing teen who ran away from Auburn found in Western NY

DUNKIRK, N.Y. -- A teenager who ran away from a Cayuga County residential center was found over 150 miles away in Western New York.

Morgan Eppinger was found Wednesday in the City of Dunkirk in Chautauqua County, said Investigator Mark Schafer, of the Auburn Police Department. The 16-year-old girl had been missing from Cayuga Centers in Auburn for over a week.

Eppinger may have run away from Cayuga Centers with a teenage girl who later died.

Eppinger and Destani Williams, 17, ran away from Cayuga Centers on May 15. Police said it appears the girls may have left the 101 Hamilton Ave. center together.

Five days later, Williams showed up over 150 miles away in a Dunkirk hospital.

Williams was unresponsive when she was dropped off at the Brooks Memorial Hospital emergency room on Saturday, police said. She died at the hospital.

Williams' cause of death will be determined after toxicology tests are completed, said the Dunkirk Police Department. Investigators are working to identify who brought the teenager to the hospital.

Five days later, Eppinger was found in Dunkirk -- the city where Williams died.
