Inmates fill sandbags for home, business owners

High water on Lake Ontario is affecting the shoreline of the lake and our bays, causing erosion and flooding. An inmate work detail supervised by correction officers has been working since April 20 filling sandbags for homeowners and business. The detail has been working out of the Williamson town and Sodus Point village highway departments. Correction officers and town highway superintendents of Ontario, Williamson, Sodus, Huron, Wolcott, village of Sodus Point and Wayne County have coordinated this detail. Thank you to the inmates on the detail for their work and efforts in helping the communities. This work detail will continue as long as there is a need.

You should thank the environmentalist too , they were the ones who caused this whole mess. They thought they had to save the wetlands and the creatures that live there, when they should have kept their nose out of it. The system that was in place to control the lake levels worked fine, but no they thought they were smarter than the people who put the original plan in place. Nature adapted to the lake levels just fine but they thought they had to fix something that wasn't broke.
Do we really have to make everything IDIOT PROOF ?
