Latest TW Cable bill is past outrageous. I have the standard TV bundle (no premium channels), telephone, and standard internet (download 15Mbs). I'm thinking of switching to either Direct TV or DISH, but both require a contract, and I'm concerned about quality of TV reception (my house has a clear view of southern sky) during inclement weather, as well as the availability of internet service. I couldn't stand going back to DSL. Any suggestions or comments about switching.

Are you on a current promo with Time Warner? If you are not you can call and speak with someone and ask for customer retention dept. and tell them you have found a better deal than you currently have and be completely serious about it get what it would cost you through verizon for the triple play package and tell them they need to be comparable or you are changing. Also add the next line (they offered me no contract) 1-800-756-7956

What gets me is there is no appreciation for long time customers. They advertise for new customers $89 mo. for all the bells and whistles. Ability to record multiple DVR and watch in any room you choose. I am paying more than double that amount and using the same old equipment I have had for years. Definitely not feeling appreciated.

You say that your monthly bill is double the $89 rate for new customers, so I'm guessing that you have TW Cable like I do, right? My last bill was more than $180. What I'm looking for is some information on customer experience with satellite TV. I think I can get internet only from TW with same 15Mbs speed $35 a month.

Call them and try the retention dept.

that is too high

you have to call when the bill increases and ask them to lower it

TWC was bought out by charter (spectrum) - $60 Billion sale price

they will be offering a smaller amount of packages and the prices may be lower

may take affect around the beginning of the year as they transition to the new company

I am paying $30 more than you are for the same thing. Not sure about the internet speed. I think mine is slower.

I don't really want to go satellite but this is getting ridiculous. Like being able to have a TV in my bedroom and a TV in the guest room and I think that would be extra on Satellite.

I spoke to TW a few months ago. Asked them how much just internet would cost at my current speed (20mb). They told me $59 a month. This is higher than what I pay now bundled with cable. My plan is Sony Vue on my Roku much cheaper than cable, however you need the internet.

I won't be saving much but a few dollars once you figure in taxes.

As far as Charter taking over I will be surprised if they lower rates.

Ditched that ever-deepening TWC money pit a few weeks ago.

We're enjoying the recently updated rent-included wifi for online news, weather, ect.

Also, Netfix allows us a myriad of programming options for under 10 bucks per month.

Not an option for everyone of course, but happy becoming one less customer for TWC/Spectrum.

if you have a digital box in both rooms then that may be why yours is higher

if your neighbors have wifi that reaches your house just ask them to use their guest wifi and pay them $15 or $20 per month just for the internet

non secure internet use only

You could do that... and it might even be legal (depends on your ISP's end-user license agreement), but to charge for it, is almost certainly illegal.

Most importantly, if someone does something illegal such as copyright infringed file-sharing, kiddie porn (Howdy Neighbors!!! eek ), anti-government activity, etc. on such a shared network, you could very, Very possibly be arrested and debriefed by The FBI, your ISP could throttle back, cancel or permanently ban your access to their services.

And of course, then there's the immediate slowdown of your bandwidth.

The potential for mischief is beyond imagination. IMO, beyond foolish, bordering on idiotic.

if you use the internet sparingly just go to the local public library and use their internet

donate the $35 you save per month to the library
