Khaliq Gale, who is facing a felony assault charge for allegedly stabbing a man in the leg in Ithaca, posted bail on Saturday and was released from ​Tompkins County Jail .
A corrections officer at ​the jail said Gale, 21, was released at 2:41 p.m. on Saturday after either paying $1,000 ​ in bail​ or putting up a $2,000 property bond.
Gale ​ was booked into the jail 24 hours earlier after he turned himself into the Ithaca Police Department on Friday ​ ​ accompanied ​ ​ by his attorney ​, ​Seth Peacock. ​ ​
Police ​ ​ had ​ ​ identified ​ ​ Gale earlier in the week ​ ​as the sole suspect in the stabbing of a 27-year-old Dryden man on Ithaca's Stewart Avenue bridge on Sept. 28.
Gale pleaded not guilty to charges of assault in the second degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Peacock ​ said on Saturday that Gale ​ had​ "turned himself in voluntarily, pled not guilty and is prepared to vigorously defend against these charges."
