Republican sources within the beleaguered House of Representatives and Senate say partisan divides and personal dislikes reached “breaking point” this past week and blame the dishonest president from their own party for most of the mess.

“I’m supposed to work with the son-of-a-bitch because he’s the leader of the party but I can’t stand him,” says a GOP member. “I despise him.”

The opinion of that one Republican is becoming the norm in Congress. In a private conversation within the GOP cloakroom this week, another Republican said he missed working with Barack Obama.

“We disagreed on most things but he is a better man,” he said. More than one Republican nodded quietly in agreement.

Several refer to Trump as the “Tasmanian Devil,” the cartoon whirling dervish of Warner Brothers cartoons.

Republicans say they can no longer trust Trump on any deals because he changes his mind and goes back on his word too often.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson calls Trump a moron. White House chief of staff John Kelly told members of Congress the president is “uninformed.” Others call him a “clown.”

“He is destroying the Republican Party and our nation,” says another to his colleagues.

LOL, I find his first year anniversary very appropriate and fittingly ironic. Remember our first glimpse of his lying as a POTUS? A foolish debate over crowd size followed up by an entire year of scandals, lies, Russian intervention, arrests, more lying, racism, misogyny, name calling, lying, failure to help neighboring countries facing crisis after major hurricanes, lying...well you get the drift. whistle

And it ironically ends with a government shutdown by a business man who wrote a book called The Art of the Deal. He said he could make better deals than anyone. He said only he could save America. We would tired of winning under him. Have you ever so much B.S? I just heard Franklin Graham on TV supporting him and praying for him. All of this totally flabbergasts me. I don't understand how his supporters can look themselves in the mirror.

The presidential idiot just don't get it!!!! attempts to suggest that most Americans are like him, money hungry and unethical has been defied once again, people want respect and the ability to be treated as humans/ After 12 months of touting a economy, these protests are highlighting a far greater and substantial message that some things are more important than money.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/us-economy-grew-26-in-4th-quarter-below-forecasts

America’s gross domestic product increased at a rate of 2.6 percent during the final period of 2017, weighed down by bigger business inventories and a wider trade deficit, according to U.S. Commerce Department data released Friday morning.

The measure came in weaker than economists had expected, considering data that showed a surge in American consumer spending. The Trump administration has repeatedly vowed to juice the economy to the point that it exceeds 3 percent GDP growth.

Defeat is inevitable. Everybody knows it, even Trump

Washington’s legal immune system is about to expel an infection from the body politic

Lucian K. Truscott IV 01.27.2018•8:00 AM

I remember the day I first realized that Richard Nixon was doomed and one way or another would be removed from office.................

Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller has worked his way through the White House staff and the Trump campaign, taking testimony from one witness after another, just like the Watergate special prosecutor worked his way through the Nixon White House and campaign. There is only one witness left to interview: Donald J. Trump.

There is one difference between the two cases. Special Prosecutor Leon Jaworski never questioned Richard Nixon about his role in the Watergate burglary and cover-up. He didn’t have to. On July 24, 1974, the Supreme Court decided in United States v. Nixon that the president had to release the White House tapes. Fifteen days later, the inevitable happened. Facing impeachment and the probability of being prosecuted after leaving office, Nixon made a deal for a pardon and resigned.

Now Washington’s immune system is about to expel yet another infection from the body politic. The end game is here. Even Trump knows it.

Trump is screwed. If he orders Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein to fire Mueller, Rosenstein will refuse and resign. Then Trump will have to go through the sordid spectacle of working his way down the ladder at the Justice Department until he finds someone who will be craven and sycophantic enough to agree to fire Mueller for him.

At that point, considering all of the other information that's already been made public, it would be "prima facie" evidence of obstruction of justice. No jury would fail to convict him. Note that this is based only on what has been made public so far. Lord only knows what Mueller and his team have been hearing from Mike Flynn and others or have uncovered on their own that hasn't been reported yet.

But strangely enough, terminating Mueller's investigation and hoping to somehow weather the shit storm that will ensue may well be Trump's best hope at staying in the White House and out of prison.

The longer the investigation goes, the more dirt that will be uncovered, the more indictments that will be dropped, and the more people who will flip. Who do you think leaked the story to the NY Times yesterday that Trump actually ordered White House counsel Don McGhan to start the process to fire Mueller but then backed off when McGhan threatened to resign? My bet is that it was either McGhan himself or someone in his office. If they're smart ... and they are ... they're probably looking to cover their own asses at this point. They can see what's coming and they don't want to be without a chair when the music stops.

Remember that obstruction of justice is just the tip of the iceberg here, the "low-hanging fruit. We still have conspiracy with Russia to rig the election, money laundering, campaign finance violations, tax evasion, racketeering, and possibly even human sex trafficking to consider. Felix Sater, formerly one of the Russian mob's main bag men here in the U.S. and a former card-carrying member of the Trump organization, has been singing to Mueller and his team for months now. Lord only knows what's he's been telling them. It even looks like Paul Manafort's toady Rick Gates may now be looking to cut a deal to save his butt.

What happens if/when somebody like Jared Kushner is indicted? Think he'll be willing to take a bullet for Don-Don and risk a looooooooooong stint in "Club Fed" by keeping silent? Me neither.

If I were Trump, I'd do whatever I have to do to kill Mueller's investigation now and hope that enough congressional Republicans are still afraid enough of my pull with the party's hardcore base to allow me to somehow weather the impeachment push that's sure to come. Granted, the odds aren't good, but they're better than continuing down the path I'm on now. I'd rather take my chances now while my party is still holds a majority in both houses. It now seems very likely that the Democrats will re-take the House in November, meaning that impeachment would be a foregone conclusion in January 2019. Just think about how many indictments will have been handed down by then and how many new "blockbuster" news stories will have been relesed.

Trump's only prayer is to kill Mueller's investigation now. It's just like Adolf Hitler's desperate attempt to split the allies in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. It's a long shot, but it's all he's got at this point. If the investigation continues, it's only a matter of time before he's driven from office and prosecuted for his crimes.

Good point!

*************************************************

Mueller needs only to ask Dishonest Don ONE question.

"Did you try to fire me?"

If Donnie says, "Yes", that is obstruction of justice.

If Donnie says "NO", that is perjury.

In a move intended to undermine special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election, President Donald Trump on Friday approved the declassification of a Republican-authored memo that alleges wrongdoing at the highest levels of the Justice Department and the FBI.

Republicans have hyped the memo’s release for weeks, calling it “worse than Watergate,” while Democrats and the FBI have warned that the document omits key context and that making it public could damage national security and further undermine the public’s faith in the nation’s premier law enforcement organizations.

But the four-page document, which was drafted by Republican staffers in the office of House Intelligence Committee chairman and Trump transition team member Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), reveals little new information. Its authors focus on complaints of liberal bias among mostly Republican law enforcement officials, while omitting information that does not fit their narrative. The resulting document is boring and tendentious, and it’s hard to understand why Republicans were so excited to get it out and why the FBI and Democrats were so determined to keep it secret. It’s such a dud that it was probably more valuable to Republicans when it was still a secret document.
