Recently a new icon appeared on my Task Bar. When I checked to see what it was it said "Get Windows 10". I am currently using Windows 7 Home Edition. Why did this just appear on the Task Bar?

If my Windows 7 is working for me what would I gain by upgrading to Windows 10. I have friends with Windows 8 and wasn't impressed with that at all.

Windows 10 is pretty much windows 7 with all the new elements of windows 8. I have it running on my one system its really nice. I really enjoy the voice command feature Cortana.

If I install it and try it, can I uninstall it and go back to Windows 7 if I don't like it? Is it buggy?

Don't install it right off the bat, I would wait until August. I will find out about the rollback and post information here about it if in fact it is possible.

if you are interested in features of a new product you can look at youtube as people will post reviews of current products

usually check a few different videos to get a wide variety of insights

Is there any more word on whether you can uninstall and go back to Windows 7 if you don't like Windows 10? I have the impression that it may do a lot of monitoring of your activity and use it to customize the way Windows 10 works on your computer?

You have 1 month to go back to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 after installing Windows 10. So make sure you make up your mind before the option disappears. If you have a Toshiba laptop then for the love of sanity wait to upgrade it (lots of random issues currently)

What do you mean monitor your activity?

I am upgrading my Nokia Lumia Windows phone to Windows 10 for phones next week.... I should make a video.

Here is a great informational video on Windows 10 and what to expect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRs4hz1YEQc#t=59

I was watching computer demonstrations on QVC and Home Shopping network of new computers with Windows 10. Both seemed to be indicating that Windows 10 was going to be intuitive and monitor your initial usage and customize certain programs according to the way you are using the computer? Voice recognition was one they mentioned.

An insightful, advanced discussion/explanation of Windows 10 (pros and cons).

Video comes in just under 45 minutes, but definitely worth watching!

Thanks for the help Dr. D and Timbo. Sounds like holding off a little while might be a wise decision.

Timbo I will definitely watch the video. Thanks.

Never a bad idea to let the bold deal with the initial bugs inevitable with new releases.

Every feature can be turned off and limited BY THE USER. This article is a complete lie.

Thank you. That is good to know. I have to start doing research and give them a little time to work out any bugs that happen in new software.

Apparently I was wrong on 1 front, Cortana search through Bing.com does randomly report to MS for what the call improvements to its search system.

I down loaded Win 10 On Friday of last week and deleted it on Wednesday of this week. I liked some features but found problems with Edge and other programs. In addition my speakers dd not work well with Win10 and my Bluetooth device was not available. It required a reinstallation which I struggled with and finally gave up. At that point I decided to go back to Win 7 until I am sure of Win 10. I also am concerned over privacy matters. They mentioned a huge update as of an unspecified date in November and said I would have to wait a month before I could install that update.

It did speed up my PC and I noted it loaded much faster. However The negatives outweighed the positives in my view and I elected to stick with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future.

You have ran into the same thing that a lot of folks have brought their machine to me about, the initial install is full of problems for some until they install all the windows updates by checking it themselves. I really wish that MS would rollup the updates into the OS install instead of having the end user faced with the initial problems of the new OS.
