Burglars strike Ithaca’s The Piggery, break window and steal cash
Ithaca, N.Y. — Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning, a burglar or burglars broke into Ithaca’s The Piggery and stole “a significant amount” of cash, according to Piggery office manager Megan Carey.
“It just feels intensely violating to have something like this happen,” Carey said in an interview Sunday afternoon, “especially for a small business like us.”
Ithaca police are investigating the crime, according to Carey. Carey said a break-in was also reported recently at the Bowl-O-Drome that sits about a block away from The Piggery.
The weekend burglary of The Piggery follows two similar crimes at the offices of Ithaca to Go.
That office — nearby on the western side of town — saw two safes stolen from it on July 7. Then, on July 10, someone again broke into Ithaca to Go, stayed for a few hours and left with ice cream sandwiches.By: JEFF STEIN | 8 HOURS AGO
