The American Medical Association joined a growing list of medical groups rejecting the Republican plan to replace the Affordable Care Act Wednesday, saying it will hurt patients.

The AMA said not only is the proposed American Health Care Act being rushed through Congress, but it's loaded with unacceptable provisions from cutting Planned Parenthood funding to repealing a vital public health fund.

"That just won't do," Dr. Andrew Gurman, president of the AMA, said in a statement posted to the association's website.

"While the ACA is imperfect, the current version of the [American Health Care Act] is not legislation we can support," Gurman added. "The replacement bill, as written, would reverse the coverage gains achieved under the ACA, causing many Americans to lose the health care coverage they have come to depend upon."

In addition to the AMA, five other groups representing half a million doctors have also spoken out strongly against the proposal.

"We are concerned that by rushing to a mark-up … in the Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means Committees, there will be insufficient time to obtain non-partisan estimates of this legislation's impact by the Congressional Budget Office, or for medical organizations like ours and other key stakeholders in the health care community to offer substantive input on the bill," the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists: and the American Osteopathic Association said in a joint statement

Good. Less "mopping up" for us come mid-term elections.

It's very evident from 7 years ago that the GOP had no healthcare agenda or policy only fair or unfair criticism of the current ACA. Now they expose their hypocrisy and lies by offering a quickly put together health plan that has very little support, especially from the American Medical Association. Lets see how many spineless Conservatives caves in to Paul Ryan and Trump, the few that stands to benefit but in actions only (repeal the ACA) In all reality, their actions will mimic the debacle created by the 2009 Recession where millions of individuals lost their healthcare through Conservative policies and missteps. 8 years of criticism toward the Democrats have taught them nothing but the ability to do nothing outside the realm of heading toward another financial meltdown.

Former HHS Secretary: Yes, There Is A Point In Saying That Obamacare Is Killing Rural America
Matt Vespa

Former Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius agreed to two points made by NBC’s Chuck Todd: a) Americans in rural America are getting financially killed by Obamacare. Bill Clinton was not incorrect in saying that the law is the craziest thing in the world; and b) health care choice is a rare event outside of the cities. Remember during the 2016 election, where the former president ripped Obamacare, saying that middle class families can’t afford it because their level of income does not allow them to accept the subsides under the bill.

“You’ve got this crazy system where all the sudden 25 million more people have healthcare and then the people are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half,” said Bill at a campaign rally in Flint, Michigan last October.

Current HHS Secretary Tom Price defended the new GOP replacement bill on Meet The Press saying, “I firmly believe that nobody will be worse off financially in the process that we're going through.” Guy will have more on this later this morning.

The New York Times and The Washington Post have pushed pieces showing how Trump supporters will be badly hit by this bill by their projections. The Post had a lengthy piece about the rural poor and health care.

“They are poor, sick and voted for Trump. What will happen to them without Obamacare?” was the teaser below the headline: “In a place of need, an unhealthy contradiction.”

Yes, it’s not really all that subtle. It’s a way to show how Obamacare is great. One story in the Post piece sowed how Medicaid covered a patient’s visit when before that wouldn’t have been the case. Still, what about choice? What about liking your plan and keeping it? Those turned out to be the biggest lies used to sell this terrible law. Have costs gone down? No, even though more people are insured.

In rural America, there is very little choice regarding health care, Sebelius agreed. In fact, in 2017, one-third of all counties will have just one health care insurer. It’s also not the best care. Yes, some patients can get doctor’s visits covered by Medicaid, but is Medicaid goof, quality care? No. Let’s circle back to the UVA study on the program that health care policy wonk Avik Roy wrote about [emphasis mine]:

Despite all of these adjustments, surgical patients on Medicaid were nearly twice as likely to die before leaving the hospital than those with private insurance.
Patients on Medicare were 45% more likely to die than those with private insurance; the uninsured were 74% more likely; and Medicaid patients 93% more likely. That is to say, despite the fact that we will soon spend more than $500 billion a year on Medicaid, Medicaid beneficiaries, on average, fared worse than those with no insurance at all.

Yeah—people with no insurance fare better than those enrolled into this government program. That’s a red flag. With already poor quality of care in rural America, couple with skyrocketing premiums, it’s not like the Left has the high ground on this subject. Everyone agrees Obamacare needs fixing, even Democrats. If they have better ideas, they had time at the committee mark ups. They decided to complain instead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And yet liberals want the government to take care of your healthcare. go figure

ROTFLMAO, it's one thing to lie but why all the large fonts? (in forum etiquette, this is considered screaming) You people are getting desperate aren't you? The Trump administration is getting nervous about the fact that medical experts and the CBO realize problems worse than the ACA.
Secondly cwjga, the fact that people lives aren't about Conservatism ,Liberals or Independents exposes a great deal of ignorance which is the bottom line, you're so brainwashed that you need outside intervention in telling you how to act, feel or understand. Question son, at the age of 50 plus do you think that you're beyond the stage of acting like a child, thinking like a child and behaving as such? Nothing worse than observing a bunch of adults embarrassing themselves by supposedly telling their offspring to behave and grow up while hypocritically or secretly going on social media only to act so adolescence. Fact usually has the last say but history will record a new culture of people who seem to raise their voices repeatedly in attempt to drown out fact. Cwjga, could you explain medical coverage for young, old, pre existent medical issues, out of pocket expense, co pays, exclusions, inclusion, covered medical procedures etc. I'm laughing because fools for the most part, open their mouths before understanding what they speak of....hint, fools are like crayons, they come in every conceivable color and brand, not as you ignorantly imply that you Conservatives have all the answers. I would say that it's befitting and proper time that an ignorant White poorly educated man realize that he is in fact...ignorant and most intelligent Whites are sick and tired of you dragging them into your sea of ignorant bliss (some are feigning ignorance) and wake up to the fact that intelligent people irrespective of race, political affiliation or gender wants a safe and secured life. Lastly son, our current president has proven the facts that ignorance, racism, economic standing, education or the lack thereof, has no particular side of fence to take up resident but is just like water, it goes wherever it pleases except when said owner takes intelligent precautionary actions to divert it to the areas where it can't be served for destructive actions.

After 7 years of complaining about Obamacare, this is the best the Republicans can come up with?

http://www.cnn.com/videos/cnnmoney/2017/...ans-new-day.cnn

A new report by the Congressional Budget Office estimates that a 64-year-old making $26,500 per year would pay $14,600 under the proposed American Health Care Act.

Dems did not have to explain the ACA, remember "we have to pass it to see what's in it"
so why do the Reps.

Why do you want people to die on government healthcare?

I'm so ecstatic that we have Conservatives like yourself who are usually a day late and dollar short. Where do you receive your news which always appears yesterday's and past tense. Even the GOP now admits that more than likely the current bill won't pass the Senate but we have cwjga who rushes into the room screaming about repeal and replace. You remind of a car with a broken gas needle, if you traveled to Buffalo NY and back home, how much gas do you now have? Mr. Einstein still states that the needle is showing full. wink
BTW cwjga, on another subject, are you still maintaining that Trump was wiretapped by Obama? The current up to date news states otherwise but 'proceed Governor"

Isn't the Republican plan also government healthcare?

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-obamacare-idUSKBN16D2RC

Trump and fellow Republicans in Congress campaigned last year on a promise to dismantle the signature domestic policy achievement of Democratic former President Barack Obama.

However, they face resistance from conservatives in their own party who have condemned the bill as too similar to the law it is meant to supplant.

Kyles, you've hit the nail on the head. I'm constantly browsing electrical brochures looking for bargain and over the years, have found identical item having the same quality but differ in name and pricing. Bottom line, as the name implies, Obamacare has existed for 7 years because the GOP can't find an acceptable replacement at the same comparable price. Give them time after the basic embarrassment of this current debacle dies down, they will offer Obamacare 2.0 but call it anything but, as long as it doesn't have a name associated with Democrats and the former POTUS.

Sounds appropriate. Once we receive our new coverage, Trump-Ryan will guaranteed the doctors and hospitals their payments after we receive medical care. Last resort, the Mexican can pay for it

Well it appears that the symbolic repeal and replace on the 7th anniversary of the ACA just received the death knell @ 3PM

Cwjga, you posted this on 7/01/2014,
4 years after the passage of the ACA, now here we are 3/23/2017 and the lying GOP hypocrites never put anything together then nor 2 weeks ago, which is now very obvious.

I went back into the archives on the topic, it's pathetic that Conservatives seemingly get pleasure in taunting Liberals in regard to Obama and Hillary but get very defensive and thin skinned when the roles are reversed. grin
