It is largely the nicotine addicts keeping the business's prosperous. All fourteen members of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors believe the Indians should pay all taxes same as all other citizens. This is also the belief of the local state senator and state assemblyman. But the Indians and their high powered attorneys manage to keep this tied up in court for year after year after year. If the county gives up the court fights, they are giving in to lawbreakers. It is certainly a sad situation.
You've stated that Seneca County gets monetary assistance to offset legal expenses from the state? Where does the state generate this money? I fully understand your long drawn out fight but ultimately or realistically you're receiving benefits (legal assistance) that someone else pays for. Is it fair to blame just nicotine addicts for the prosperity?
We are supposed to get money from the state in the budget just passed. We haven't got any money yet. If nobody bought anything at their stores, they would go out of business and problem would be solved.

The state gets money from many sources, sales tax, income tax, car registration and on and on. This has to be just about the dumbest question I have ever seen on here.

The money comes from all taxpayers including those in Seneca County. I am sure there are many things in the budget that Seneca County residents help pay for that do not benefit us directly.

Thanks for making my point......Maybe in your convoluted mind, that concept will come to you......we the tax payers foot the bill.
Man, I had assumed that this would take several postings to get to this end. ROTFLMBO
Thx. THx Thx. laugh laugh laugh
Could you at least ponder a stupid/odd response before rattling off that one?

We New York state tax payers pay which is not you. Of course it comes from taxpayers. Where did you think the money was coming from? Wow. Taxpayers pay for all types of crime with prisons etc. I don't see your point?

A little local government economics 101, with the exception of NY sales taxes, the town, county and schools keeps their own money and are assisted by the State, who get it's money from NY State tax payers.....see the cycle there? wink

Depends on which prisons you're referring to, State or Federal?
We all pay Federal taxes out of our pay checks and individual state residential tax.

No. I do not know what you are driving at? How about state income tax? Entrance fees on state parks, hunting license fees, etc?

I believe you said that you own property near Interlaken that your mother left you? Do you pay property and school tax on it? Since you are part Indian you would not have to pay and they could not foreclose on you.

I was thinking of NY state prisons but federal prisons are also paid by taxes. I still have no idea what you are driving at?

Well, this is one of the most baffling debates I ever had on here. LOL Good night.

A little education my boy, if you didn't know anything about the birth of children born before the 80s....there were no venue for stating bi-racial heritage...so to answer your knowingly ignorant question.....I and my parents have always paid full assessment. Now a question for you, one of my Seneca Fall buddies stated that he knew a guy on Ovid street that once flew a Confederate flag on his front porch. Based on some of your rhetoric and postings, would you happen to be just that fellow?......you fit the type.... you know.......ignorant, narrowed minded in regard to minorities and totally clueless. cool

Kyle: I think everyone should be of mixed race.

VMS: I think that eventually, most everyone will be,

Timbo: Unless you know something about biology that the rest of the wold scientific community doesn't, then everybody already is.

Geneticist have concluded definitively that all of human kind has descended from just two "proto-matriarchs" One that originated in what is now Mongolia and the other in Sub-Saharan Africa.

1443948 - Yesterday at 03:40 PM [Re: kyle585]
Timbo: There is no such thing as 100% white. As I've repeatedly told you, "racial" purity is a biological impossibility and the term "white" is scientifically meaningless. (MEANING Timbo is the only one allowed to blame the whites for everything and no one else can say that word without being a racist.)

1443945 - Yesterday at 03:36 PM [Re: kyle585]

Kyle: Tell me what laws are unfair or illegal.

Timbo: Any that were a result of force, coercion or intimidation. In other words, EVERYTHING THAT ORIGINATED FROM THE LAWS ESTABLISHED BY WHITE MAN.

#1443961 - Yesterday at 04:12 PM Re: Timbo
Kyle: All current laws and treaties between the US and Native Americans? Wow

#1443960 - Yesterday at 03:59 PM [Re: kyle585]
Timbo: I didn't say that "all laws established by a white man are bad", did I?

1443962 - Yesterday at 04:17 PM [Re: kyle585]
Timbo: I'm saying that... as it applies to treaties and laws established therein, VIRTUALLY (bing bing bing QUALIFIER meaning to imply ALL BUT being that I cannot prove anything specifically like I ask everyone else to do, that any situation proving me wrong, which I will deny anyway with deflections and name calling, are a mere exception.) ALL (UNPROVEN LIE with no specifics inserted to instill white guilt without any proof) are a DIRECT ( again presumed with no specifics) result of coercion, intimidation, threats of harm or death and regardless of past Indian (amalgam race) "ignorance", they acted in MOST ( what? Another QUALIFIER? ) every case, in good faith and HISTORICALLY ( MEANING yet another qualifier with NO specifics inserted to instill white guilt without any proof), white man (which is really just an amalgam race) did not, (again, no specifics) thereby violating the SPIRIT (another qualifier meaning only in his opinion) of the agreements or by establishing laws which do NOT meet the BRITISH PRINCIPLES ( wow, he hides behind the skirt of the very ones he blames everything on ) of Contractual Jurisprudence that our very legal system is based upon.

Timbo: Unfamiliar with the word "virtually", are you?

NOPE, not anymore. ROTFLMAO

You imply disparity where none exists. Try explaining specifically where you see it in my comments, or are you instead hoping to rely only upon vague innuendo, in an attempt to convince other simple-minded folks of such gibberish?

They get it from the tribal casinos.

Buzz - don't fall into the Timbo racist trap. It's not racial, it's political. If the properties were owned by individuals rather than purchased by the tribal government, they could be foreclosed on. No sovereign immunity defense by individuals.

Any casino anywhere is a blight on the community. All I'm suggesting is that a non-tribal casino would be a buffer. The State would probably approve the one in Rochester anyway.

I grew up in the state of New York and have a recurring question.....how did man create laws that gave him permission to take public lakes(public property managed by the state), in this case the Finger lakes, sell lake front property to private individuals who in turn land lock the public lake to the extent that this lake has only 1 or 2 access points for the public to utilize the still public lake?
Tribes, which are quasi sovereign, not sovereign and not nations, built casinos before there was any control. IGRA was passed to put controls on them.

If tribes want to put up churches, hospitals, universities, or non-profit entities, they too will be tax exempt. It is called equality under the law.

One can access Cayuga Lake at Longpoint State Park, Aurora, Union Springs, Cayuga ,Mud Lock, Montezuma Refuge in Aurelius, Cayuga Lake State Park in Seneca Falls, Stewart Park in Ithaca plus several Marinas. Must be you never got out of Romulus much.
